You Were Warned
Sadragon I pondered on what I had seen Merna display. When she was around Pierre she was happy go lucky! Away from his seeing eyes, a different Merna emerged. I could see how the bond was affecting her. She spent hours in a chair looking out over the water, blinking only when she had to! I knew it was not enough but I made a suggestion to the Master that maybe Ashur should be placed on guard duty around her place more often. In the hopes of lessening the effects she was feeling. I even went as far as suggesting seeing if Merna would make it so that the Master bloodline could have an entryway onto the property. I remember Ashur's composure as he waited for his father to make a final decision. “Bring the topic up with the hybrid. If she agrees, then it will be!” Patrol around my mate’s and Merna’s place was consistent. As much as I did not like it, I could not be stationed here all the time. The Master had to make things appear as if there was no plot going on. Of all the individuals that reside in the Master’s kingdom, Ashur and I spent the most time here. I wanted to tell Ashur that I knew about his mate, just so he knew I understood everything that he was going through. It was the Master’s wish that I not speak about the topic. So until Ashur says something to me … I will watch from the sideline, understanding the yearning he felt to be with his mate! As always when I came here, Merna was outside glancing out at the water. “I have a question for you?” I said once I was beside her. Merna’s tone was robotic, “You want me to allow Chaos and his family onto the land?” She turned her head towards me. “How … You already know?” My tone was of shock. Tapping the side of her head, “remote viewing! I also have been working on listening into others' conversations. It is still weak but it is getting a lot better than it was before!” I smiled at her which made Merna smile in return, “I would say that eavesdropping is rude, but you would have to be caught first!” I said to her, “So will you let them on your property?” Merna sighed, “I do not know!” I could understand her hesitation. “Look I know Ashur will not do anything to upset you or jeopardise anything with you!” I pointed out my truth. “That is not what I am talking about!” Merna began, “I still do not know who is after me?” She explained her concern.“Hear me out!” I made sure our eyes were locked, “There is more protection in numbers! Your bubble of protection is amazing, but outside of here … you are in more danger!” I was hoping that Merna would bite the bait I was giving her. “If!” Merna placed her finger up in the air, “I decided to do this … I will need a vial of Chaos’ essence or fluids!” She informed me. It was not a complete yes nor was it a no. I could work with this. Merna turned her head, doing the same I could see Ashur standing at the edge of the trees. I could understand the frustration he was feeling. Knowing that I could reach Merna, yet he could not. Merna placed her hands on her chest having difficulties breathing, with a single tear rolling down her face as Merna’s eyes were locked on Ashur. “I just do not know who I can trust!” Merna wheezed. Rubbing her back, “Breathe slowly!” I whispered in her ear, “The pain will only last so long!” Merna bobbed her head up and down as she took her sight off of Ashur. “I spoke to her!” I said to Ashur as I spotted him glaring at Merna. “Is she okay?” Ashur asked, sadness written on his face. Without saying a word both Ashur and I had a silent conversation. Unspoken words were all we needed to understand the other. Both of us watched Merna flop on her back rubbing her chest, trying to bring comfort to her aching chest. “She is a strong woman … Fate would not give me someone that is weak willed! Will she allow us in her domain?” I took time to think about what I was going to say. “She does not trust anyone, she is just starting to like me. I think that if my meaning was any different … I would not be allowed around her either.” “I take it, we will have to wait longer!?” Ashur’s tone was low. “I was told to get your father’s fluids! It was not a no though it was not a yes either. It is the best I will get out of her for now!” A smile hit Ashur’s face, “I will take it! Has she said anything else?” I looked at Merna, should I come clean and tell Ashur what I know and put him out of his misery or stay silent. I grunted, choosing to remain silent. I did not know who could overhear our conversation. “Her dreams remain the same! I do know by what I have seen!” I stopped talking glancing around to make sure we were alone. Moving closer to Ashur, “her skills are improving!” Both Ashur and I halted our conversation as we witnessed Merna getting up and aiming her feet toward the dwelling. Before walking inside, her eyes landed on Ashur. No words were spoken, the sadness in both their eyes was enough. A single nod was all Merna gave us and she was inside. “What does that mean?” Ashur was quick to ask me. I shrugged my shoulders, “It could me several things … greetings … maybe this is her way of saying yes to my request … maybe she was acknowledging you!” I whispered the last part so that only Ashur could hear. ‘What are you implying my friend?’ Ashur linked to me. Sighing! I chose my words carefully, ‘I imply nothing! There are no words that need to be spoken to understand what ails Merna and her condition!’
