You Were Warned
Merna I was becoming more fluent with manipulating and manifesting! With a couple of well chosen words and smiling sweetly, Pierre and I were signing the paper of ownership to our new place. Of course, the realtor was aiming to get more money for the cottage. The realtor was trying to convince the owner to wait a bit longer so the bidding war would work in his favour. I also knew that the higher the bid, the more money the realtor would get from the sale of this four season cabin. This is where I came into play. Some things were not disclosed in the ad. Things I was sure stopped anyone from wanting to buy the place. I had so kindly pointed out the fact that no one had shown interest in the location in a year. The ownership had changed hands five times in the last decade, which told me there was something wrong with the property ... like a curse! As I was speaking I pointed to a cupboard door that was slowly creaking open. I smiled at the realtor, “Like I was saying!” The previous owner looked at the door, “You said cash correct!?” He said with a pale expression. That is when the realtor was compliant with our offer. Miss. Cambell was so kind as to say that she would finalize everything in five business days. The previous owner took the money and handed Pierre the keys to the cottage. Once the ex-owner and realtor left Pierre and I walked around the place. “Nice touch by opening the cupboard door!” We both laughed, “You know we could have started bargaining to lower the price of this place!” I gave Pierre a wicked smile. “For the size of this place and how well maintained it appears … it was worth it!” The place had five bedrooms and one-half bathrooms. The bonus part of this place was it was a four-season cabin, with everything a modern family would need or like. My favourite part was the dock that went out into the Paudash lake. There was another dock that went out to a small little island near the cottage. Pierre and I figured that the monthly bills, not including gas for the car and truck plus food ... we were looking at no more than two thousand a month. Between my business and collecting rent, I would be able to live more than comfortably for many years. "I will have to set up wards before we put one box here!" I informed Pierre, "It will not take long before they find me!" "The parasites?" Pierre had given them the nickname that suited them all excessively."Yes!" I continued to glance out at the lake. "If we leave now, we will get back just after one!" Pierre smiled down at me, "I would have thought you would want to spend the night!" I peered over at him, "We have our sleeping gear here, all we have to do is unpack them and sleep in the living room!" I made the suggestion. "You take the master bedroom, I will go into one of the other rooms!" He told me with a pat on the shoulder. I pulled out my phone to see if Cancer had messaged me! "Waiting for someone to call?" Pierre noticed my actions. "Cancer!" I exclaimed. "Next lesson?" Pierre inquired. Inhaling deeply, "Yeap!" I exhaled, "He is to call once he has finished his tasks. With the time difference, I am not sure when he will call. I think there is like a two hour difference!" "You get the bags!” Pierre stated, “I will start dinner!" "I will get the bags, and drop yours near the main entrance. then I am going to set up a ward that will work for the night!" Glancing up at the sky, “I think there is like three hours of half decent light for me to work with.” Pierre raised a brow! "Do not worry! I will make sure Sadragon is able to enter so you can have your snuggle time!" "I DO NOT SNUGGLE!" Pierre yelled playfully. "Sure! That is what she said!" I laughed as I jogged to the truck. I could not help but notice a couple of faces studying me as I moved around. One of those faces I had remembered as being Alma. The first thought that came to mind was, I did not think she would leave Zefer's side ever. I shrugged my shoulders, 'I guess I was wrong!' I thought to myself. I had dropped our belongings near the front entrance. Rummaging around I found what I needed to start making my wards. My phone started to ring once my wards were up for the night. Not recognizing the number. "Hello!?" I answered it. The line was full of static, "get out of my house!" I thought about the research I did on the place before coming here."Would this be Mr. Fulford?" There was no reply. "Mr. Trent?" Again nothing. "Mr. Cardriff?" "GET OUT!" The male voice screamed in my ear. "Well ... it did not take you long to start harassing the new owners!" I smiled to myself. "Know who you are dealing with ... Mr. Cardriff?" That was the only warning I was going to give him. I hung up the phone, glanced around the tree line one last time and headed into the place. "PIERRE!" I yelled. "In the back ... it is barbeque night for us!" He yelled back to me. Strolling towards the back I spotted Mr. Cardriff opening the cupboard doors. Hearing heavy footsteps coming towards me, Pierre pointed to the cupboard door opening, "You … or … A guess?" He asked. "Soon to be evicted if he does not close them and stop messing around with things here!" I kept my sight narrowed on the unwanted spirit. "I will only say this once, behave or I will evict you from the land! The choice is yours!" I placed my hands on my hip, "Close the doors now!" I ordered. Slowly one at a time, the cupboard doors closed. "Thank you!" I said once the last door was closed. Directing my feet to the back door, I jumped slightly once I spotted Sadragon sitting on the deck not far from where Pierre had been cooking. Sadragon was smiling at Pierre, "a man that can cook! I will never go hungry!" I strolled over to Sadragon and started to laugh as I sat down, "something tells me it is not Pierre's cooking you are interested in but him in general!" From the barbeque, "stop talking about me like that!" Sadragon and I laughed out loud, "You have never liked public displays of emotion or affection!" "Damn right! It is meant for the bedroom!" Pierre snorted out trying to act angry. My phone began to ring again, "Hello!?" Once again it was an unknown caller. "They are here! RUN! The demons are here!" I heard the voice of Mr. Cardriff warning me. "Who was that?" Pierre asked as he gave me a plate full of food."The guest! Letting me know the demons are here!" I relayed the information. Sadragon started to chuckle, "Old man Cardriff! That is a name I have not heard in over a hundred years. I thought he left after we chased him and his family out of here." Pierre sat down, "What do you mean?" Chuckling, "He was one of the many founders for the human borns to make settlements here!" Sadragon began his story. "At the beginning, our Master did not mind that he was here, they were respectful. Slowly Mr. Cardriff tried to take more!" He paused for a second. "The Master claimed their only son and ran the rest of the family out of the land. After that day we made it our business to make sure all newcomers understand the laws of the land. What the Master expects out of everyone. This way there is peace and balance!" I pointed behind me at the tree line, "would that explain why I saw Alma and several other faces?" Sadragon straightened his back, "you saw them?" "UM!" I began, "Was I not supposed to?" Sadragon shrugged his shoulders, “Nothing surprises me about you anymore!” “Give it time!” Pierre started to laugh, “She will shock you somehow!”
