You Were Warned

Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Unknown Unknown With only one entrance, this marble chamber was crafted to suit my desires. A sharp eye would see gold-coloured tiny veins venturing from the ceiling, down the walls to the floor. The primary source of light was a smokeless fireplace. The mantel was made from gold and designed in the old-fashioned 15th style. In the center of the chamber was placed my throne. Arranged in a way so I could overlook the fire. Others would say this was hellishly uncomfortable; for myself, a simple single straight-back armchair was all I required. Beneath the throne were the hides of the insolent, brazen, and traitors. Their moans and pleas bring a toothy smile to my face. They used to walk on the backs of others; now, I walk on theirs. I sat in my favourite spot I readied myself as I saw what was going on through the eyes of my serf. Via the sights of my serf, I had a flawless presence of Merna. “The deal is straightforward little pet … you need to persuade everyone to depart and get to the road before the moon is at high peak!” I spoke out loud to no one but myself. I redirected my concentration via the sights of my hunter; I observed Markous. The link between myself and the hunter was complete. I could fill the desire of the hunter to end this human born’s life. “You are not permitted to end his existence!” I mentally told the hunter. I could feel his displeasure, “yes Master!” Markous was yelling derogatory words toward the group that was leaving the field. Steve glanced over his shoulder only once, shaking his head in disappointment, then followed Merna and the rest of the group. I returned to the blubbering fool, “what do you think," I was talking to my loyal hunter. "Should I make Markous into a footstool?” I waited for Sadragon to reply. “Or should I give him to my daughters as food?” I heard Sadragon let out a low chuckle. “Then it shall be, he will be shovelling out the shit gutters!” "Master may I speak frankly?" Sadragon's eyes were fully dilated with a thin rim of dark brown for colour. "Speak!" I permitted him to speak. He began, "The human born, that seems to be found of the red head!" "What about him?" I grumbled. "He is my mate!" Sadragon declared. I gave Sadragon my undivided attention. "Are you sure of this?" "The pull is weak! Yet, the desire to be with this man is strong!" Sadragon lowered his head, "I ask permission to pursu the bond?" I slapped Sadragon on the back, "You may collect your mate when the time has come." I was smiling. Even though Sadragon is a loyal member of my kingdom. Over the centuries I have viewed Sadragon more as a friend and less of a servant. "My little pet was given the chance to leave with everyone. She needs to get everyone out before the moon is at high peak." I could see worry in Sadragon's eyes. Patting Sadragon on the back, "do not worry my friend! One of the human borns remains at the campsite. Go! Make sure the possible becomes the impossible. Take a mage with you, and complete the task!" A wide smile crossed Sadragon's face. "With pleasure my master!" Dissipating out of sight I sat on my throne, "things are looking up!" As I neared the entrance to this chamber, I could hear one of my siblings giggling. “What do you want sister?” My tone was annoyed at her invasion of my chamber. “Boring and dull as always, when will you up-grade to meet the times in fashion and art?” Her voice echoed in my ears. I huffed out, “Get to the point dear sister. I am losing patience!” I could have gone another million years without hearing or seeing them, and I would have been happy. "I could not help but come to you with the greatest news! You have a hybrid on your land ... I have come to let you know that we will be collecting her now!" My sister sounds so happy. A grin graced my face, "Not this time!" "What!?" My sister sounded as if I said something in a different language to her. "We all know how much you detest human borns! I am doing you a favour by coming here and retrieving the female!" I repeated myself, "not this time!" I swear I could see the wheels in her little mind turning, "Then it appears you have the first bid ... though if you are not successful we will have our turn ... it is only fair after all!" She seemed disappointed. "Don't sound so disappointed sister!" I was starting to get annoyed with my sister's voice being in my head. "I can't help but wonder why you want this human born?" She dared to question my actions. I let out a loud growl, “This hybrid is different!” My sibling made a sound of being shocked, “You don't collect hybrids!” “I did not say anything about collecting Merna, now did I!" I pointed out one of her mistakes. My sister's temper swiftly changed, “Our eldest sister will not like this turn of events!” She spoke sharply. I started, "As you already know and so eloquently pointed out ... I have the first bid." I thought about my second point, “Besides every one of us, is entitled to our council!” I made known my actions to want my little pet. Huffing, “Our eldest sister will not like this!” She warned me. "And since when did you ever want a consort? You have always ruled alone!" "My reasons for wanting a consort is none of your business!" I paused for a second. Lowering my tone, “When did our dear eldest ever like anything that I have done?” I pointed out. My sibling did not respond to me but retired as swiftly as she had arrived.
