Revenge of the Rejected
“I guess you are smart enough to recognize my voice, quickly.” She chuckled lightly. Charles had excused himself from Mr. Grayson. He knew that for whatever reason she had called him, it wasn’t good. No matter the plan she had, he had to be one step ahead of her as he couldn’t allow a woman to trump over him especially when he had a lot to do. He was aware that if Josephine had something on him, he wouldn’t be able to achieve his goals anymore as she would find out more secrets about him, and control things from there. “What do you want?” I questioned, coldly. Then she chuckled loudly, and exhaled like she really enjoyed her laughter. “it isn’t a question of what, but who, my darling.” She replied. “Josephine, I do not have time for your pranks and all. Get straight to the point. I’m very busy.” Charles snapped at her, but ensured that his voice didn’t make Mr. Grayson suspicious. “Oh, I see. Alright, let’s meet tomorrow evening at Grand Hotel. I’m currently lodged there.” She informed, and hung up. She was so annoying that Charles could almost throw his phone out in anger, but it was going to be her turn to get angry soon, because he had just what to clip her down. He slid his phone back into his pocket, and went back to Mr. Grayson. They continued to have their conversation until Mr. Grayson’s time was up. They shook hands, and parted in their cars. Charles started his car, and headed towards the court. He was ready to be in court to make his father know how big he is for his father to handle. A smirk came on his face while driving with the thought of how things were going to play out. He was going to finish his father off. Then a call came in, and it was from James. “Hey James, how are you feeling right now?” he asked, out of concern. “I’m good, boss. But an info just came in. It seems Mark’s hideout has been found out. I’ll text the address to you right now.” Mark informed. Charles felt waves of joy wash over him as he hung up, waiting for the address. He never thought that he would find Mark so easy, seeing the way he had been hiding really well. But he was glad that he finally got him. A text came in, and he checked the text address, and smiled.“Oh, Mark. You are going to regret this.” He said to the air, and turned his car around. He had planned to go to the court, 2 hours early to prepare himself, and to stay calm and collected before it commenced, but catching Mark right now, was more important, as far as he was going to be able to make it back to the court before the case commenced. He drove off with speed to the address that was sent to him, and when he got there, he discovered it was a house which was in a very quiet street. Charles walked up to the house, and knocked on the door, hoping to hear a word from Mark, but there was no response. Then he pushed the door gently with a finger, and was surprised it opened. Charles wondered if Mark was at home at all, but he kept going in. The house was empty. “I should probably try the basement. That might be his hideout.” Charles thought to himself, and walked down the basement. Many cobwebs hugged him, and he removed them out of annoyance. The basement didn’t look like someone had been here for years. With anger, he stomped back upstairs, and dialed James’ number. “What the hell is going on? There is no sign that anyone has been living here.” He said, in between his teeth. “I was about calling you. I just found out that it was a false lead.” James informed, feeling bad. “Wait, what! A false lead?” “If this a false lead, then it means I was led here to something which they have planned against me.” Charles thought to himself, and before he could take action, he heard the doors. He noticed a few men in masks, surround the windows, and they threw in a poisonous gas and shut the windows. Charles couldn’t endanger his life by speaking further to James because of the gas. So, he ran back to the basement, and noticed that there was a poisonous gas timer there. In a minute, the gas was going to burst out and he would be dead. He looked around immediately for any tool he could use, and lucky enough for him, he found an axe. He immediately slid his phone into his pocket, and ran up the stairs into the sitting room which was filled with gas. He had removed his suit to use to cover his nose and mouth, although, it didn’t mean the gas wouldn’t find its way up to his nostrils if he spent too much time there. His phone began to ring, but he paid no attention to it, and he struck the door with an axe in one go. Thankfully, it was a wooden door, although, strong, but he believed it couldn’t be too strong for an axe to take down. Charles continued to strike the door with the axe, and he began to sweat. He was hoping that the gas wouldn’t find its way up to his nostrils yet, so he kept on trying. He tried several times before a hole was made with the axe, and slowly, the gas began to seep out of the sitting room. The door wasn’t like one which had a door knob, if not, he could have broken that, instead. Even the windows weren’t glass to make things easier, but he kept on striking at the door until there was big enough space for him to pass through. He ran towards his car, and continued coughing as his throat gave him sharp pains. His eyes were red, and he felt dizzy a bit which made his knees give way to the ground, helplessly. As he coughed, he covered his mouth with his hand, but when he removed his hand, he noticed blood.
