Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 41

Chapter Fourty One Charles got back home, and laid down on his bed. The whole court issue that was going to happen between he and his father was going to take place after 3 months, which was the election. He needed to focus on the election, and anything that would deviate his attention which could also cause him to lose the election, would be disregarded. Even with the threats he was getting, and the suspicious movements he was noticing, he wasn’t that much bothered. Charles was bent on attaining success, and he saw all that as obstacles to make him lose his focus on his aims. A message popped up on his phone, and it read: “There is a meeting which would happen at our conference hall, tomorrow. Please ensure you attend.” Charles smiled, and felt proud of his achievement. He never saw himself going towards the political line when he met with the system, but George had pushed him. And once he was done with his little revenge with the position of a governor, he was going to resign. His assistant governor was going to be from his same party, so immediately he resigns, this party would still be in charge, because his assistant was going to take the post up as acting governor. Charles felt smart as all his plans were visibly favoring him, and had the potential of working out. He went under his bed cover, and shut his eyes, with a relaxed mind, until he dozed off. The next day, Charles woke up, feeling good, and highly motivated. He walked over to the bathroom, and washed himself up while humming to beautiful happy songs. After he was done washing up, he walked out to his room, and put on one of his expensive suits. He dressed up like a fine man as his watch complimented both his tie, and shoes. As soon as he was good to go, he walked out, and strode downstairs. “Good morning.” Vera greeted him, noticing his positive demeanor today. “Good morning, Vera. Ready for the day?” Vera smiled, and clutched her hand to her bag. ” Yes.” She replied, with a slight smile. On the other hand, Angela also woke up in a good mood. She had a plan she had planned to execute today, so she was quite excited as she got prepared for the day. She didn’t like the way Charles looked unbothered, and unmoved about her threats, so she was bent on proving her threat to be dangerous, with a saddening outcome for him. Her phone rang, and she picked it up, then answered the call.“Alright, I’ll meet you there soon.” She said over the phone, then hung up. She hummed happily, and when she was about to pull off her robe to have her bath, a knock came on her door, and Mark walked in. “Knocking doesn’t mean you are allowed to come in, young man!” She snapped at him. “Don’t be so mean. After all, I’m not a stranger.” Mark defended himself, and rolled his eyes. “I was about to pull off my robe!” Angela shot him a glare. “Alright, alright. That’s bad of me. Not cool. Anyways, I came for something.” Mark said, and cleared his throat. Angela calmed down, and folded her arms, staring at him with curiosity to know what he was here for. “I need you to give me an amount of money. I want to use it for something important.” Angela busted into uncontrollable laughter, stomping the ground with her feet as tears rolled down her cheeks. “Are you mocking me now?” Mark said, through his teeth, getting annoyed. “Uhm… Not really. You brought this upon yourself though. You were planning rashly until you were scathed by Charles’ plans. Anyways, so as not to waste your time, I don’t have any amount to give you.” Angela said, sneering at him. “Come on, Angela. I know how close you’re getting to the governor. I know he’s sending you a lot of money, so why can’t you help me? You’ve not even heard of the amount I want from you, but you’re shunning me already.” “You have to earn your worth. Alright, because you’re my brother, I’ll give you a chance to prove your worth. Want to hear it?” Angela proffered, unfolding her arms. Mark was clearly not okay with this, and he could feel frustration rising in him, but he decided to keep it down. After all, whoever is in need of help couldn’t dictate how he wants to be helped. “Alright, I’m all ears.” He reluctantly voiced out. “Okay. If you’re able to get one very useful information, or framed up truth about Charles, I’ll consider giving you any amount.” Mark inhaled sharply, and thought about it. He was not so sure about anything regarding Charles as he felt Charles was no longer the easily picked on man he knew. But he decided to accept it. “Deal.”Angela giggled, then dismissed him, and walked into her bathroom. “Money is power.” She said to herself as the shower sprouted warm water on her body. She loved the fact that she was able to talk to anyone anyhow, or control them just because she had money, and connection, and she wasn’t going to stop there. She planned to aim higher and higher, until she was considered as the most powerful woman. Angela washed herself up, and when she was done, she headed out to a café which was a bit far from her home. She got to the café, with a cover up dressing as she didn’t want anyone to notice her speaking to anyone, in case of anything. “Welcome, ma’am.” The man she was waiting for, greeted her. “Thanks. So, are you ready for the job?” She asked immediately. She wasn’t interested in wasting time as she had other things to do for the day. “Yes, ma’am.” “Alright, I want you to handle this information about Charles, well.” She said as she handed over a document to him. “Noted, ma’am.” “Your work is to continue ruining him on the day of his election even when other bought reporters back down, or information runs out. I need you to ruin him completely.” Angela said, through her teeth, with her eyes, glaring wickedly.
