Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 253

Charles couldn’t get rid of the whole shock immediately. These three seemed like unlikely allies. If someone had predicted that Vera was going to partner up with them in the long run, he wouldn’t have believed. He was lost for words, and the only thing he could do next was to applaud them. “I really don’t get it. How could abducting James be worth all these?” he questioned, finding it difficult to understand how they would think a stupid idea was worth how they waned to get back at him. “Shut the hell up, Charles! You have nothing reasonable to say. We have had what we want, and it feels so good to know you’ve experienced defeat. If you thought you could have a nice life without me in it, then I hope this incidence have taught you that you can never be as big as you want.” Vera said, looking like she could hit him with any sharp object if she was allowed to. Then Tyson pushed James towards Charles. As Charles wanted to bend down to pick James up, Tyson shot him in the leg. “Ahhh!” Charles groaned out loud in pain as he held his leg. “Charles, are you okay?” James asked, looking worried as he managed to drag himself near Charles. Tyson, Carlos and Vera made to run away, but they were stopped by cops who had surrounded the silo. “Shit! You bastard!” Carlos cursed out loud, feeling very much betrayed and outsmarted by Charles. They hadn’t come to their senses that Charles would always outsmart them, and now that the cops had finally caught them, there was no escape for them anymore. “Raise your hands!” The cops yelled at them. “And don’t move!” They instructed them as they closed in on them and began to check their whole body to be certain there was no any other harmful and dangerous tool with them. They seized the guns and the money which was with them, and handcuffed them. The paramedics rushed towards Charles and James, and wheeled them into the ambulance. The cops had prepared for any kind of situation because they were well aware that if Charles didn’t put up a fight with them, they could still try to pull up something. “Are you okay, sirs?” The paramedics asked them as they placed them on the stretcher in the ambulance. “Yes.” They both responded, although, Charles seemed to be in pain as his wound was fresh. They drove them to the hospital to ensure they were taken care of. Charles had also instructed Mr. Van to be there for when they would pronounce judgement on Vera and his step-brothers. He wanted their judgement to be a quick one, and it was easy because they had actually tried to get a hold of Carlos and Tyson before, but they had escaped. Mr. Van attended the court meeting, and waited for the judge to finalize his judgement after weighing all the things they did. “Miss Vera would be sentenced to two years imprisonment. Tyson and Carlos Lincoln will be sentenced to six years imprisonment.” The judge pronounced and the court meeting ended. Due to Charles’ influence, Vera had gotten a lesser jail term as he decided to go a bit easy on her, hoping that the 2 years imprisonment would teach her some lessons which the freedom he once gave to her, didn’t teach her. ~A few days later~ Charles and James had recovered and were back to their various homes, with the situation of things lighter than before. He woke up, feeling elated one morning, and then went to his balcony to take in the morning breeze, and allow it to caress his skin. Although, he had lost quite a lot, especially in his previous home; his favorite and most expensive antiques, but he was willing to stand again, and gain more wealth. After all, when one fell, he was meant to rise again, and possibly do better. He leaned his phone against his ear as his call with James, connected. “So, let’s meet up today to talk about the business proposals that are here.” Charles said calmly. “Alright, boss. You got me.” “Invite Mr. Van as well.” “Certainly.” James responded brightly, and the call ended. He smiled, and took in a deep breath, happy to finally breathe fresh air, and not the sickening air the hospital surroundings brought. Although, he spent only a few days there, but to him, it was more like a few years. He had missed out on a lot of things, and he was missing his freedom. Although, Mr. Van was handling the company well and giving daily reports that pleased him, but it still felt so good to be back in business and ready to work. As he leaned on the balcony rails, a notification from the system popped up, and had Charles’ attention as he wondered what task the system had for him, this time. “CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY BEATEN ALL DEADLINES GIVEN TO YOU IN THE COURSE OF GIVING TASKS THAT HAS AMOUNTED TO ABOUT A HUNDRED. YOU ARE THEREFORE REWARDED WITH A PREMIUM TICKET TO REQUEST THE SYSTEM WHENEVER YOU NEED IT.” Charles was happy with this information. It meant that he didn’t need to carry out tasks before he could be rewarded with points to get a skill, neither did he need to be given money that came with deadlines to be spent. “Thank you so much, system.” He appreciated it, feeling really happy. He was glad that the system had done a good work in his life. In fact, the system had transformed his life, and he was immensely grateful for it. Gradually, it vanished before his eyes, and Charles said goodbye. The premium ticket must have certainly appeared in one of his vaults, so he was going to pick it up whenever he needed it. He turned away from the balcony rails, and went back into his room to dress up and get ready for his meeting with James and Mr. Van. He drove off to the meeting place, and they talked about a lot of things which turned out successful. Charles stared at both of them as they related well. Both of them had been a positive influence in his life, and with them, he was certain that he would become the biggest billionaire in the world, which he already was, as his investments were now yielding massive fruits.
