Revenge of the Rejected
Vera felt hopeless and like she was doomed. She knew how important it was for a lady to have her purity to herself, and it was obvious that these guys would still ask for sex some other time, and there’s no way in the world that she would be able to decline their request and gradually, she would be their underdog with no respect. Before anything else could happen, someone grabbed her arm out of nowhere, and was able to dodge some hits from the Pride Boys. Vera had no time to see who it was; all she just wanted at that moment was to get far away from them, without them having to achieve the bad goal they had of her. As they got out of the school, they kept on running, and this time, Vera had the time to look at who it was. “Who are you? And why did you save me from them?” She asked inquisitively. At least, anyone would like to know who their savior is and what pushed them to save them. “I’m Andrew, but I will tell you the rest of the details, as soon as we get to a safe place.” Andrew said to her. While Andrew was running with her, he hoped deep in his heart that it would be easy to convince her of who she really is, and that she doesn’t belong to this world. Most people wouldn’t understand that truth. To them, it’s going to seem like they’re speaking some bullshit just to abduct them easily. When they got to a deserted garage, they both took time to catch their breath. Vera bent to her knees, trying to regain her breath, while Andrew leaned against a wall, “So, who are you? Do you work at our school?” Vera bombarded him with questions that showed the level of her curiosity. “Alright, calm down. Like I said earlier, I’m Andrew. I don’t work here, neither am I from this world, alright? I need you to tell me all that has happened of recent in your life.” Andrew demanded, now focusing on her. Vera took in a deep breath, then let it out. “I need to go. I can’t be seen here with you. Lord Daniel is going to kill me.” She said, looking worried. She knew that if Lord Daniel got a whiff of whatever was happening right now, she would be in great trouble, and even more trouble because she was currently with a man, and not a woman. “Hold on. Hold on. I know how weird this may seem, right now. But I’m your savior.”“Yeah, I know. Thank you. What more do you need from me?” Vera questioned, beginning to sound defensive. “You need to calm down. I’m the one who will save you from whatever problem you’re having in this life. You just need to be calm, and believe me.” He knew that any world one enters through the time machine, had a problem which most times, proved difficult to go through. And he knew how difficult it might be to get Vera convinced that she didn’t belong here. “Are you sure you’ll save me from whatever problem I’m going through?” Vera asked, hoping she would truly be free from the grasp of Lord Daniel, Michael Deaton, and Professor Darwin. “Yes. I give you my word. All you need to do is to trust me.” He assured her, and Vera nodded her head, then decided to speak out. “Alright, lately, I’ve been feeling weird, and it’s even more weird to tell you that it feels like my life started from when I was auctioned off to a Mafia Lord, but then, I do have flashbacks of my past. But coming back to the major problem I’m facing, there’s this Mafia Lord I was auctioned to, and he has made my life a living hell, and will continue to do that if I don’t do the things, he wants me to do, perfectly.” “Really!” Andrew exclaimed, but mainly to show her that he’s listening. “Yeah. He wants me to get every necessary information from another Mafia Lord.” “Hmm. Like acting as a spy.” “Exactly. But that’s too dangerous for someone like me. I’m not to even talk to anyone else, let alone, make friends. I’m in bondage and isolation, living in fear, every second of my life, and I’m tired of it. If you can really take me out of this misery, I’ll really appreciate it.” Vera said, with a pleading expression. She was already beginning to rub her palms together like she really just wanted to get out of here. Andrew felt for her that she must have really gone through a lot in the space of a few days, staying here. “Alright, I understand you. You said this man is a Mafia lord, right, and the person he is sending you to is also a Mafia Lord?” “Yes, you’re right. They both are.” Vera responded hastily. “Alright, that’s the more reason we need to leave now. They would be more skilled than me in fighting, and I can’t possibly win against him or his people, so we have to ensure we do not cross paths, or it’s already a lost game.” Andrew said as he placed his hands on her shoulders, just so they could both look into each other’s eyes, and she would see the seriousness of the situation. “Alright, I understand.”“Good. So, let’s leave now.” Andrew said as he made to move. But Vera held his hand back. “What?” Andrew asked, out of curiosity. “Well, I need to do something very important or I will be bothered, and regret for the rest of my life.” “And what’s that?” “I need to apologize to someone. She is my course mate, but has tried several times to be my friend. All I do is to chase her away just to avoid getting into trouble with Lord Daniel. Now that I’m leaving, I just need to make up and apologize.” Vera said, and Andrew sighed. “Alright.” He responded. But then, he hoped deep in his heart that he wasn’t making a mistake by allowing her to go somewhere first. They have been lucky not to have cross paths with Lord Daniel, but if they linger too much, they might get unlucky, and there’s no way they can get help, because it’s only by chance that he got lucky to get into the same world which Vera was in. Charles and James may get into different worlds, and there would be no one to save them. ***************************** “Do you think Andrew could have gotten into the right world and seen her?” James asked as he stared at the time machine worriedly. “Well, even if it’s a problem to find her, if he finds her, that’s good. But when he does, I feel the major problem is trying to convince her. You know how Vera is.” Charles spoke, staring into blank space. “That’s true. Even apart from her being a hard nut to crack, anyone who is appeared to, all of a sudden, and is told they don’t belong to that world, would find it difficult to believe. It’s more like coming to me right now, and telling me I don’t belong in this world. I’m going to put up a fight, and run as far as I can, from the weirdo.” James blurted out. Charles smiled because he was right. No one would want to believe a such a thing, not even him. It’s only a child one could easily convince. On the other hand, Andrew was still debating whether he should allow this happen or not, but he decided that it’s for the best. If he doesn’t allow her, it could cause her to make a fuss, therefore making it difficult for them to leave quicker than they should. “Where’s this place you’re talking about?” Andrew asked.“I really don’t know. But I’m thinking of sneaking back into school to ask of where she lives.” Vera replied, still looking determined to do, despite the fact that she had low chances of coming back, free. Andrew connected his palm to his face, and dragged it across his face, and let out a frustrated breath. He had never thought he would have to face this stress after meeting with Charles. “I wonder why a sensible woman like you would be so inquisitive to an extent of going into the time machine.” He muttered under his breath. “What did you say?” Vera asked, not making out what he had just said. “Nothing. You know what? I’m just going to find out her house on my tech device.” Andrew didn’t have any problem doing that because he’s a good expert in technology. Besides, all he had to do was to find the information of those who had a major role in her life, here in this world. And judging from what she explained earlier, he found the lady, easily. “Alright, found her. Let’s head to her house.” “Wow! How did you do that?” Vera exclaimed. “That’s not the focus right now. We need to get there, and do what you need to do before Lord Daniel interrupts or make things difficult.” Andrew said, and moved further, without trying to look at her reaction. They walked from houses to houses, and ensured they laid low, without greeting anyone, or poke nosing into anyone’s business until they got to Claire’s house. “You’re sure this is her house?” Vera asked as she got to the doorstep. “Why not find out first?” Andrew uttered, trying not to show his frustration. “Alright, alright.” Vera responded, then rang the doorbell. She rang it twice before she heard footsteps walking towards her. “Who is it?” Claire questioned from the other side of the door. “It’s Melissa. Please open up.” “Melissa?” Claire exclaimed softly, and opened the door. “Wow. How did you get to know this place?” She asked, out of curiosity. “Well, I just had to find it. This is my uncle, by the way. I came to apologize before we leave.”“Leave? Leave to where?” Claire asked, looking surprised. Uhm… Hello Claire. Can you allow us in, first?” Andrew interrupted. “Oh, sure! Pardon my manners.” Claire said, then allowed them to go in before shutting the door behind her.
