Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 164

Apart from James being happy about the fact that they had taken Mr. Lincoln down, he was also happy that he and Amelia would finally settle things between them. Then he scrolled through his contacts, and dialed Amelia’s contact. “Hello Amelia.” “Hey James.” She responded in a delighted tone. “Well, I called to inform you that we’re finally done with the most tasking part at work, so if we could meet tomorrow to sort things out, that’ll be nice.” James spoke, hoping Amelia wouldn’t have changed her mind since the last time they spoke. “Oh, that’s sweet. It means you still have a few things to do at work, if you say you’ve only done the most tasking thing.” “Uhm… Yes. But that doesn’t affect our meeting. We’ll be finalizing what we’re working on, in three days.” James informed her. “Alright then. That’s fine. But then, if you insist on us settling things tomorrow, we will. Although, we’ll still have to go to see my father, but that’ll be after you’re finally free from so much tasks.” Amelia uttered, over the phone. “Alright, agreed.” James said, with a smile on his face. After they hung up on their call, James walked into his bedroom with a delightful heart. He couldn’t wait to see how tomorrow’s events were going to unfold. But one thing he hoped for was that things would be settled completely between them, and when involving her father. He pulled off his clothes, then went to have a shower to cool down his head from the whole heat of thinking and planning well for Mr. Lincoln and his family to go down. While he was having a shower, he hoped that Charles would find something or someone who will renew his hope of having a love-filled life as the people who were meant to love him, failed to do so, except his mother, of course. Just like he was all crazy, he wished Charles would find a person who he would go all crazy for. After having his shower, he cleaned himself up, increased the intensity of the chill coming from the Air conditioner in his room, and then laid on his bed comfortably until he slept off. The next day, James cleaned up his whole house, trying to impress Amelia when she comes into the house. They had agreed to meet in the evening, so he had time to prepare all he had to prepare.“Oh, yeah! I need to prepare a delicious meal.” James voiced out, with eagerness. He picked up his phone, then searched on the internet for delicacies he could make that would sweep Amelia off her feet. He rose to his feet when he figured out the meal he was going to prepare. Then he strode out to get the ingredients in the market. He was a busy man, so he rarely cooked in his home, and for a meal of such, he certainly didn’t have the special ingredients needed. Also, to ensure he had not lost his magic touch, he was going to watch a video online on how to prepare the meal, and then would prepare a little for himself to be certain he was giving out the best to her. While in the market, he noticed someone who looked like Mark, although, he only saw the person’s back. “This will cost you 10 dollars and 2 cents, sir.” The market woman informed him, but James’ attention was on the man who looked like it could be Mark. The man wore a dark cap, so he couldn’t tell from the person’s head. “Hold on, please.” He finally spoke to her after giving the man a long look. The moment the man started moving, James began to walk towards the man to capture his face from an angle to confirm if it was Mark, before he would follow him to his hide-out. But all of a sudden, a number of people came from nowhere, playing music like they were advertising their talents, and people who didn’t have much to do, gathered to listen to them. “Excuse me.” James voiced out as he tried to wade his way through. The moment he was able to get out of the crowd, he didn’t see the man in sight anymore. James ran to the nearest corner to see if he would catch sight of the man walking down to another path, but he saw no one. “Shit!” He cursed out loud. If he had seen the man’s face, and confirmed it wasn’t Mark, it would have been much better, rather than being disturbed by what wasn’t confirmed. But then, he shook his head, and decided to take it off his mind. “Mark has been in hiding and has remained low ever since he had been labeled wanted. He couldn’t possibly be a threat now, and if he were going to be, not anytime soon. Not when he would have heard of the Lincolns’ fall.” James thought to himself and went back to the woman he needed to get something from. Surprisingly, the crowd had disappeared, so he had an easy way, back. After getting all, he needed from the market, he drove back home, and began cooking until nightfall when he was expecting Amelia any moment from now. He had installed dim lights in the living room to make things seem more romantic, and then even dropped rose petals on the floor which would lead her to the center of the living room. In no time, he heard a knock on the door, and he adjusted his clothes, then cleared his throat as he walked towards the door. As he opened the door, his eyes widened in surprise as his eyes beheld a sight he had never seen before. ~ “Boss, when do you plan to make an appearance?” A man asked respectfully. “Soon, very soon. But seeing how intense things have been, I’ll have to re-strategize, and this time, Charles wouldn’t know what hit him.”
