Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 143

Tyson and Carlos’ face expressed disbelief. They couldn’t bring themselves to believe that they had actually pitched their tent in their enemy’s camp, and now that they couldn’t pay up, he could do anything that pleases him. Sandra felt so embarrassed, and all the words she had spat out, just when she didn’t know that he was the owner of the resort, made her feel more embarrassed. She cleared her throat, and tried her best to push away her pride. After all, there was nothing she could do, right now. “I wasn’t aware you’re the owner of this resort, and trust me, it wasn’t intentional.” Sandra chuckled awkwardly, trying to act nice. But even the way he had been treated when he disguised as Andrews made him more bent on ensuring that they suffered for their misdeeds. “Now that you know, I believe you know what next to do. Pay up or work here at the resort.” Charles replied firmly. Sandra chuckled awkwardly again. “Please Charles. Like I said, we are kind of stranded. Our cards have been declined. Kindly overlook our charges since our family is involved. We are family, isn’t it?” “Mother.” Tyson voiced out, displeased with the way his mother was sucking up to Charles, all because of their present situation. “Family? Since when did you regard me as a family?” Charles chuckled as he dipped his hands into his pockets. “Pay up or you work here to make up for your payment.” Then Charles turned to the security team and the manager. “Ensure that they don’t leave until they settle their bills.” Charles ordered them, and walked out on them. “Charles! Charles!” Sandra yelled out his name, but he ignored her. When she tried to follow after him, the security team prevented her from moving any forward. “Ma’am, you heard him right. What option do you want to choose?” The manager asked, still acting polite. Sandra exchanged looks with her sons, and they all knew that they had no choice than to comply with what Charles. They agreed to work at the resort, and then they were led to the toilets by two of the staffs that were assigned to oversee whatever they were to do. “Why would you ask us to clean these messy toilets!” Sandra shot at them, feeling irritated, and disgusted. The staffs laughed in a low tone. They were glad to finally give them a pay back which they deserve. They also planned to give them more low jobs which would infuriate them. “Please clean all these up. You have a lot more to do and if you keep slacking off, your time, working here, might exceed a week.” One of the staff informed them. “To hell with you and your boss!” Sandra yelled in anger. Charles on the other hand had also gained another company which belonged to Mr. Lincoln. He knew this particular firm was more precious to him than the others which he had lost. Gradually, he had planned to take over, and make himself known as the CEO. He was going to plant himself deep to an extent that Mr. Lincoln would never be able to uproot him out if he tried to. He headed home with James as they planned to make a little celebration over what they had achieved so far in a little time. “Cheers to winning more fights.” James raised his glass of wine to make a toast. “Cheers.” Charles chuckled, and clinked glasses with him. “I can’t believe your father’s family are now going through what they made you go through while you were in disguise.” “I know right? By now, they ought to be feeling Andrews pain.” Charles laughed out loud. “Exactly.” James chuckled, then a beep from his phone interrupted them. But James didn’t bother checking it out as he was having a fun time with Charles presently. “So, what other plan do we have to work on?” He asked Charles who was sipping his wine. Before Charles could respond, another beep interrupted them. “I think you should check your message out. I have a feeling more beeps will come in if you don’t respond to it.” Charles smiled, and sat up. James knew he didn’t really have any important thing that needed attention, but to acknowledge Charles, he decided to check the message out, and to his surprise, it was a message from Amelia. James’ eyes opened wide, and then he rubbed his eyes to be sure he saw right.“What’s going on?” Charles asked, wondering why James had that baffled look on his face. James slowly turned to look at him, still looking lost. “A…Amelia messaged me.” James voiced out, with tears filling his eyes up. Charles didn’t really know what advise to give to James as he didn’t want to lead him astray, or make him lose his chance of getting his love. “I think you should just follow your heart. If you want to leave now, and meet up with her, you can.” Charles said to him, making him know it wasn’t a big deal. James was torn between two decisions. He knew he had once let Charles down over Amelia, so he couldn’t really read the room if Charles was truly okay with it. “I… I don’t want to let you down twice, so I won’t meet up with her.” James said, with a determined mind. “Come on, James. We aren’t in the middle of a meeting right now. You should go to meet her.” Charles urged him with a smile. “No, apart from that, I think I don’t want to meet with her. After all, all she has ever done is to inflict pain on me. She keeps going on and off and I need someone stable.” James uttered, and gulped down his drink. Charles couldn’t force him especially he was a little confused with what James really wanted. “Alright, be my guest.” Charles said, with a slight smile. They both talked about a lot, and all they wanted to achieve together until it was late in the night when James had to leave. “Alright, you can take the day off tomorrow. You really tried.” Charles commended him, then patted him on the back. James bowed a little in appreciation, then walked out of Charles’ house, and headed to his home. While he was in the car, he stared at Amelia’s message intently. A part of him wanted to meet with her so bad, and another part of him was scared to meet her as he didn’t want to get his heart shattered beyond how it was, now. “Let’s meet.” “I know you might be skeptical about this, but I want to see you.” Those texts didn’t hold any suspense in the air. There was nothing evoking enough for his curiosity to be at its peak. If he went to see her, the only reason would be because he still loved her very much, and wanted her to be soft to him.As he got to his house, he parked his car near his front porch, and when he got down from his car, he stopped in his tracks as his eyes fell on someone he never expected. Amelia.
