Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 127

Charles was really excited on the inside, and out of instinct, he could have jumped on it immediately, showing how much he had been waiting for such an offer, but he composed himself. “What do you say to it, young man?” Sandra questioned. She was also wondering why he had not said yes just immediately after she gave him the offer. This got her more interested in him as she stared at him, scanning him from his head to his toes. She thought to herself that he would make a good employee if he didn’t usually jump at any offer which anyone made to him. At least, that would make him a trustworthy employee. “I actually I’m surprised, ma’am. I didn’t know what I did to deserve such kindness.” Charles finally spoke, acting like he was really touched by her offer. Sandra changed her standing position, and exhaled. She was glad because his response sounded like things were going to be positive which meant that he was going to say yes to it. “You seem like a unique man who has unique abilities. Your handiwork got you this offer, and not just my kindness alone.” “I still appreciate it, ma’am. I will gladly work for you.” Charles accepted, and thanked Sandra so much that she chuckled. “You’re welcome. So, I need you to start work at out home from tomorrow morning. Our garden needs a lot of care.” She smiled, and then walked into the building. Charles gestured victoriously, using his arm, and then he chuckled out loud, feeling elated that his plan was now working. Then he glanced at Simon who looked like he was feeling a bit down. Charles knew that Simon would have wished he was the one Sandra saw but Charles just had to accept the job offer because of his plan. Besides, the Lincoln’s family weren’t a family you would love to work with, in the long run. “You don’t have to be sad about this. I’m sure a better offer is headed your way.” Charles tried to cheer him up, and then continued with his work. After closing for the day, he went to the usual spot where his driver usually waits for him, and then he got into the car, transferring the happy mood to him. “Alright, drive me back home!” He instructed joyously. “Sit, it seems you had a really good day today. It’s different from most days when you come back feeling exhausted.” His driver smiled as he started the car.“I know right? I had a really good day today.” Charles said, and then brought out his phone to reach out to both James and Vera through a duo call. “Hey boss. Seems everything is good over there.” James said as he stared inquisitively at Charles. “You are right. I just got an offer to work internally for the Lincoln’s.” Charles revealed, and both Vera and James rejoiced happily. “Oh, my goodness. How did you do it, boss?” James asked, quite interested in the story. “Let’s just say I impressed her with my unique style.” Charles smiled, and Vera and James both laughed. “So, are we celebrating this new win?” James asked, in a celebrative mood. “Definitely, but now. Let’s achieve something bigger first. As you know, it wasn’t long since we celebrated something else.” After a long conversation, Charles ended the call, and as he got home, he took a shower first, and then watched more videos on how to do better at gardening, and also learnt a few professional terms in case he was being challenged by anyone. All through the night, he indulged himself in so many plans he could utilize to take the Lincoln’s family down, and when he was done, he smirked, feeling relieved. “Just the same way an ant gradually destroys a home is the same way I’ll destroy yours too.” Charles voiced out, and then got ready to go to bed. The next day, he got ready for work, and headed to the Lincoln’s home instead. He was invited in by a maid, and ushered to the sitting room to wait for a while. Charles ensured his disguise was still perfect so as to avoid anyone recognizing him out of the blue. Sandra on the other hand was in her personal room. Her friend had slept over in this room, so she woke up this morning to meet her. “How was your night? I hope you enjoyed your stay?” “Yes, I did. You really are lucky that you got married to Mr. Lincoln. I’m always happy whenever I’m coming over to your place, because I know you’ll treat me well.” Her friend, Isabelle uttered as she stretched happily. “Definitely.” “By the way, what about the man you hired? You said something about he catching your eye.” Isabelle brought up his topic.“Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean catching my eye in the sense that I like him, and want to have something to do with him.” “Then what?” “First, I really like his uniqueness, and secondly, he seems so familiar that I want to keep him by my side until I figure out who he is. Thirdly, I’m going to use him to my advantage for something.” “Wow. This sounds interesting. So, you have some cards up your sleeves, and the young man doesn’t know a thing about it.” Isabelle chuckled. “Of course. Why should he notice?” “Anyways, try to fill me in on any juicy update. I’ll always be available to listen.” Isabella winked, and got up. “Sure. You’re leaving already?” Sandra asked as she stood up as well. “Yes. I need to settle some things at home. You know there is this Governor I need to milk, and to milk him, I need to get his trust.” Isabelle smiled, and winked at Sandra. Sandra chuckled modestly. “Just the same way I made my way to Lincoln’s heart. I wish you luck, my friend.” Sandra uttered, and they both laughed. A knock on the door interrupted them, and Sandra walked up to the door, and opened it. It was a maid who had come to inform her on Charles’ arrival. “Mr. Andrews is here, ma’am.” “Great.” Sandra thought to herself.
