I Became a God After the Apocalypse Game
Once everything was ready, Aiden set off. Compared to the monsters he had faced before, the Redmaw was clearly on an entirely different level. Even with all his experience, Aiden dared not act carelessly. After all, this was his first time encountering a Redmaw. That short stretch of road alone took a full ten minutes to cross. Fortunately, it did not alert the Redmaw. "Looks like it worked." Staring at the golden treasure chest just within reach, a blaze of excitement rose in Aiden's eyes. The hidden scroll was finally about to be his! He reached out. The instant his fingers touched the chest, it let out a sharp crack. The treasure chest, which had been sitting here for ages, slowly opened. The wind grew stronger and stronger as a massive creature rose to its feet, like a moving mountain of flesh. The raging wind inside the cave stemmed from the Redmaw's breathing. Its pair of vertical pupils locked onto Aiden, its gaze icy and filled with menace. … However, before it could make a move, Merrick—who had been ready all along—raised a hand and unleashed a spell. A thick bolt of lightning came crashing down, slamming the Redmaw back onto the ground. With a divine-level expert like Merrick stepping in, Aiden felt little pressure, yet he still moved quickly and looted everything from the chest. Inside, there was a piece of parchment and a golden gemstone. "Even the contents of the chest are different…" Aiden fell into thought. In his previous life, he had only obtained one hidden scroll. He'd never come across this parchment and golden gemstone before. Were these truly the key to unlocking a hidden class? "Forget it. Either way, something guarded by a Level 100 boss can't be that worthless."Though he was puzzled, Aiden steadied himself and studied the information on the parchment. 'Parchment brings some kind of use.' Unfortunately, it bore no important information. Aiden then turned his attention to the golden gemstone. 'The Cooldown Stone, Apocalypse Grade.' 'Cooldown Powers (Active Skill): The Cooldown Stone holds immense power. It can ignore item ranks and reset the cooldown time of other items. Cooldown period of three days.' "Holy sh*t!" Aiden cursed without thinking. It was another Apocalypse item! Though it did not increase his attributes, the effects attached to it were absurdly powerful. It could reset the cooldown of other items while ignoring rank! Did that mean it could even reset the Tome of Carnage? "Let's give it a try." Aiden forced himself to calm down and immediately activated it, selecting the Tome of Carnage as his target. A flash of white light swept over it. Aiden quickly tapped into the panel. The next second, he was taken aback. The Slaughter of Carnage, a skill derived from the Tome of Carnage, had its cooldown period of nine days reset to zero. It worked! "What in the world…" Aiden grinned widely, and he burst into laughter. With the help of the Cooldown Stone, the original cooldown period had dwindled significantly! For now, the Cooldown Stone had basically become an attached item to the Tome of Carnage. "Nice! Looks like this trip was worth it." Aiden was in a great mood. Whether the parchment turned out to be useful or not, the Cooldown Stone alone was more than worth the effort he had put in. "If I could take down this weird boss too, we'd have bigger gains." He looked at the Redmaw, its health bar steadily dropping under Merrick's relentless bombardment, and the urge to jump in started to rise. But it was only a passing thought. This time, the deal with Merrick had not been made through the Supreme Hall, so they were not in an employer–employee relationship, nor were they in the same category. If he dared to interfere, that would count as stealing the boss. With an act that bad, Merrick would have every reason to strike him down. Not only would he make an enemy, he would also lose his attributes. Aiden weighed the pros and cons. In the end, he quietly retreated to the exit and waited for Merrick to finish off the eerie boss. After all, there was no way he could deal with the monsters of the Dragon Mountain Range alone, lest he wanted to die and respawn in the city. Boom! Boom! As expected of a divine-level sorcerer, Merrick's power was truly terrifying. Even at Level 100, the eerie boss didn't even have much room to fight back. Its HP dropped at an incredible speed. "Alas, divine-level NPCs are the most powerful," Aiden muttered as he watched the show. In his past life, there had been plenty of divine-level players, but he had never heard of anyone who could solo a Level 100 eerie creature. In his opinion, perhaps the player who had raised the Netherwyrm could do it, but they were a mysterious figure who had never revealed anything. Give it another 20 minutes, and this boss should be dead, Aiden thought to himself. It was just enough time before the cave sealed shut. Reality matched his guess. Under Merrick's overwhelming assault, the Redmaw's HP plummeted. It was purely a one-sided slaughter.
