Chapter 39 First-Class Citizen

Aiden felt a jolt of confusion. When Lady Riley spoke, it wasn't just him who was surprised. Madonna and Elise were stunned, too. Both of them stared at Lady Riley in disbelief. They all understood just how heavy those words 'first-class citizen' were. And it was not limited to Leafport's first-class citizens. This was a Dominion citizen we were talking about. That meant if Aiden were granted that status, the whole Dominion would recognize it. Even in Crownspire City, his rank would hold. After that, settling in any central hub was easy. Buying property was no problem at all. His social standing jumped by several levels compared to what it had been before. Most of Kroger High's local NPCs did not have this kind of privilege. Take, for example, some of the commanders in Leafport. They ran things locally. They commanded respect and had numerous strong fighters under their command. However, if they went to another central hub, their status would be no different from that of any ordinary person. That was because their authority came only from Leafport's recognition, not from the Dominion as a whole. Indeed, many of those individuals were influential, and every city would welcome them. That was a different matter. Right now, Aiden was just a drifter. Suddenly, he might become a Dominion first-class citizen. The news hit him like a shock. More importantly, only members of the royal family could grant that kind of status anywhere in the Dominion. No one else could do it. Even a lord who controlled Leafport and its armies did not have that authority. So that means Lady Riley is actually part of the royal family? "No wonder." In that moment, everything clicked for Aiden. I finally get why a duke's widow can keep her footing in Leafport for all these years without anyone daring to cross her. Turns out she's connected in ways that actually matter. Aiden drew a breath and looked at Lady Riley. "May I ask, Your Grace—are you connected to the royal family?"Lady Riley rested her cheek on one hand and purred lazily. "Oh? Why? Can't I be tied to the royals?" "No, it's just… I was a little surprised," Aiden explained with a small smile. Figures. "Alright, it's just a title. No need to make a fuss," Lady Riley said coolly. "And don't call me 'Your Grace.' I don't like that." Aiden blinked. "So... what should I call you?" Lady Riley gave a soft laugh. "Just call me Sienna Hawk. You've done me a huge favor. No need to be so formal." Aiden didn't put on airs. He nodded. "So, Sienna, can I take that to mean we're friends?" "Friends?" Lady Riley, or rather Sienna, paused for a moment. Then, her smile opened up like a flower. "You can think of it that way." A chime sounded. 'Ding! You've gained Sienna's friendship.' Aiden's brow lifted slightly. A friendship with a royal was not something anyone treated as trivial. The quest "Lady Riley's Request" is so worth it!Elise and Madonna quietly stepped back a few paces. We've been following Sienna around for a good while now, and we've never seen her smile at any guy like that. Knowing her, she isn't the type to fall into some cheesy love-at-first-sight moment. At the very least, she doesn't hate Aiden. That's a big deal. They exchanged a glance, each catching the surprise and a flicker of envy in the other's eyes. Aiden, of course, had no idea what was going through their heads. He hesitated for a moment, then turned to Sienna. "By the way, Sienna, there's something I've been meaning to ask." "Go ahead." "Since you're royalty, do you happen to know the Royal Chief Beastmaster?" "You mean Uncle Steven?" Sienna blinked at him in surprise. "How do you know him?" "To be honest, I'm hoping to pick his brain about some Beastmaster-related quests," Aiden said with a wry smile. "I'm already Level 11 and still haven't gotten my class change mission. Master Geuder in the city told me to see Mr. Read about it." "Darius sent you?" Sienna's eyes widened in genuine shock. It felt like every time she thought she had this striking young man figured out, another secret popped up. "Not even the Beastcaller could satisfy you, huh?" Aiden scratched the bridge of his nose. "Something like that." Sienna nodded slightly, lowering her gaze in thought. "Got it. I'll get in touch with Uncle Steven. The moment I hear anything, you'll be the first to know. But heads up, he has a bit of a weird temper. You'll need to bring something that piques his interest." Aiden brushed aside the covering at his chest, revealing the Medal of Dominion. "This should do it, right?" For a split second, Sienna's eyes went blank. "If it's the Medal of Dominion, then yeah, that will work." She drew in a breath, momentarily at a loss for words. After all, Aiden is buying up most of Westhand, and he has the Medal of Dominion, too.
