SCARLET’S POV As soon as their names left her mouth, a great wind blew and when it stopped, standing beside Mildrid were the witches, Luesa and Eval. “You...” I stuttered. They are the ones, the same witches that I have brought. They stood beside Mildrid with their heads facing the ground. “Yes, Scar. They have long been meaning to get at you” Nana revealed. “To get at me, but why?” I asked. What has this got to do with me? This question was waiting to be answered, and as the second passes, I got impatient. “What has this got to do with me? I murmured. “Yes, my queen, it has always been about you from the very start” she replied. “About me, how?” I asked. Nana is even getting me more confused. At this point, Chamlee and lord Nathan walked over to me and led me to sit on the throne. Mia passed a glass of water to me and I gulped it down at once. “I will tell you all about it, my queen. I think that will answer your question and tell you all you need to know” she said. I nodded and she began. “After the witches of the dark wind were defeated by the moon goddess and chased out of the land, the three brothers from Diamond Cut Pack were made the alphas of the Pack. Soon there was a need to oversee the affairs of the other two Packs, and so the brothers shared the Pack among themselves with the oldest retaining Diamond Cut Pack. And that was when it was time for the moon goddess to leave but there was a bit of a problem” “A problem” I muttered. “Yes a problem and that is where you come in” she replied. “Me...” I mumbled. This was hundreds of years ago, how did I get into the story. I know my family, I know my older brothers and younger brothers, and even mama Ruth knew the day I was born. I could no longer keep the egg safely with me as the witches of the dark wind had gotten a hint of its existence and sought to destroy it. I realize that I had to do something to protect the egg or completely defeat the witches of the dark wind. I had already altered my name for Nayina to Nana just to be discreet about my identity, and the witches were operating in secret, so the idea of defeating them was completely ruled out as I could not tell where they are “On a good day, I set off on a journey where I came across the three alphas, Fred, Jake, and Ray. That was over two decades ago. All I needed from them was a little assistance but they declined an old lady’s request. On that day, I had wanted to hand over the stone amulet to alpha Fred with the motive that even if the precious egg was captured and destroyed by the witches of the dark wind, they would never be able to reclaim the three brother Packs. The stone amulet would be with alpha Fred and should the egg live, she will reclaim the amulet when the time comes and take back what was hers. “When the three alphas refused my request, I secretly placed the egg into alpha Fred’s belongings on that day. This was to keep the egg safe until it hatches and only then would I entrust the stone amulet to her”. “I have the egg?” alpha Fred was astonished. Nana continued. “You had the egg, Fred, until it got to beta Tim and finally consumed by ma Patricia, and then Scarlet was conceived. To my utmost dismay, when she was born, she was frail just like her egg. She had stayed too long in her shell that adjusting to the world became almost impossible. With this realization, I could not entrust the stone amulet to her yet. It would be useless to her weak self until she had her wolf” “But I had my wolf at sixteen, nothing happened. You never gave me the amulet” I said. “Yes and that was because I could not come to look for you in Diamond Cut Pack. You were easy prey to the witches, and they must never know that you were already hatched or your true identity so I had to stay away from you even at that time. However, I had hoped that you would run away from the mansion once you get your wolf. I had thought that you would soon get tired of the torture and come to the woods where I waited joyfully to receive you but you never did. At that point when you were going to be given up to a ruthless alpha as a wife, I hoped you will finally see a reason to run away, but you never did. Deep within you, you could not stop loving those that were supposed to be your family even when such gesture was never reciprocated” she stopped.“I...
