LANDON’S POV “I... I.. am Gina. You can call me Gina” she replied with her teeth exposed in what appeared to be a sheepish and ridiculous smile. I would have sworn that she was mad, but hearing her speak, I knew that that was not the case. But why does she look so haggard and smelly with dust and dirt all over her? And why was she talking to herself? But then there was something familiar about her when she spoke that made me feel obligated to listen to her. She has never met me, that I am sure of. And even if she had, she would not be able to recognize me because I disguised my appearance before coming here. “Yes, Gina, what is the problem?” I asked. In response, she inhaled with her mouth wide open and I felt I had made the wrong choice listening to her. She is truly a madwoman and I do not need to stand here with her. I wanted to go in but Lalic pulled me back. “Let’s wait, uncle Landon” he appealed. It was against my will but I had to listen to Lalic. He is young and might not understand the unserious nature of people. “Oh... please don’t go. I... actually, I am here to see the queen, it is very important. My friend sent me to her but for days I have not been able to meet with her” she begged with all seriousness. “I am not the queen, you can meet one of the servants for that” I replied. I know from the start that this discussion was heading nowhere but I tried to be patient and accommodating all for the sake of Lalic. Anyways, I cannot guarantee how long my patience would last because I have already decided that if this lady tries to piss me off any further, I will walk out of here. “Yes, I have. And the queen said she would meet me by 4:00 pm, but believe me, I feel that there is no time” she begged. Okay, at one minute she is sounding alright and at another, she is saying nonsense. It is almost 4:00 pm and why can't she hold on a little while longer? What exactly does she intend to achieve by wasting my time? I could as well go in there and ask the queen never to meet with her but that is if truly she has an appointment with the queen “See, whatever it is, wait till you see the queen” I replied dismissively but she was not ready to give up. “Sir, this is very important. I am only able to speak with you because I am very sure that you are one of the Pixies. I can't speak about this to any of the servants” she begged. “Oh, I see. I will tell the queen that you are waiting” I replied and wanted to go in and again Lalic pulled me back. “If it is very important, why must you wait for days? You should have taken the risk and spoke to a servant about it” Lalic asked. He is taking this mad woman seriously and I could not help but pity him. Anyway, just out of curiosity, I will wait and see where this leads to. “You won't understand, my good little friend. This must not get to the beta in any way. I have to be careful because of him” she replied while lowering her voice. Hearing of beta Tim, my antenna stood still and I became interested. She continued. “I am scared that I might mistakenly relay my message to an ally of the beta and this would get my friend and me in deep trouble” she stopped. “Oh, I see...” Lalic murmured. It is obvious that he was confused about what to say. However, after a few seconds, he said to her. “Not to worry, I believe you, and I will let mother know about you immediately” Hearing Lalic refers to the queen as mother, she immediately bowed. “Oh, my prince, my king I am sorry to bother you, I never knew who you are” “It is okay, this here is my uncle, Landon. The queen is my mother. I will talk to her on your behalf. You can stand now” Lalic said. “Please, my prince, if I am not been too demanding, this is very serious and I need to speak to the queen now” she begged and reluctantly stood. But then something doesn’t seem right. She is sane, that I am very sure of, but what is the relationship between the queen and her said friend and how do beta Tim come in? Maybe I should get to the root of this, and find out more about what she speaks of. “Your friend, what does she have with the queen, and what is beta Tim’s role in this?” I asked. “Sincerely, sir, I don’t know about her and the queen...” she replied. Her response got me completely disappointed. I can't believe that I was trying to hold a conversation with a lunatic and so I almost screamed at her. “Then why do you want to see the queen by all means on her behalf?” At this point, she drew back and began to tremble. “She... she told me nothing.... she sent me...” she was already crying. “Please don’t cry” Lalic consoled her. “Take it easy with her, uncle Landon. Can't you see you just ended up scaring her?” “She is insane, Lalic, we can't waste our time with her” I retorted in spite. “No she is not, just watch,” he said and turned to her. “So, aunt Gina, I believe you don’t know the relationship between your friend and my mother, but then, you must know what this got to do with the beta. Please tell us why the beta is interested in this” he requested. She began to fuddle her fingers and was moving her lips nervously. “Please speak, we will get across to the queen, I promise” Lalic urged. “The... the beta... you see...” she stopped. “I am listening, aunt Gina,” Lalic encouraged. She smiled and blushed. She looked so stupid that I felt like punching her. “You see, Dawn is...” Hearing the name Dawn been mentioned, I went mad almost immediately. “Dawn... did you say Dawn...” I screamed and walked closer to her. “You know her?” she asked with eyes wide open. Now it was my turn to beg for her attention and I pleaded with her. “What about her, what does beta Tim want to do to her?” “Dawn is the beta’s daughter, that is their relationship” she replied. “Of course, I know she is his daughter, please where is she” I begged. I know something is wrong with Dawn and that is why I have come here. I came to the Packhouse first to find out the situation of things from the queen. Now, where is Dawn, and what happened to her? “She sent me to the queen, she asked me to reach the queen for her” she replied. “See, Gina, I came here for Dawn. I knew something wasn’t right. I am her mate” I yelled in anxiety. “You... oh my goodness. I think beta Tim is going to kill her” she exclaimed. “Kill here, where, when, for what?” I demanded at once. “At first he took her to the dungeon and after I rescued her he caught her and took her away somewhere else. I have been trying to reach the queen since then but all to no avail. I fear he might have killed her” “Kill her, but why? Please take me to her right now” I demanded. “I don’t know where he took her to. He said he won't return her to the dungeon” she replied. “Did he say where he is taking her to?” I asked. By now, my patience was running out and my wolf was raging inside of me. All I want is to have my Dawn back to me. “No he didn’t...” she stopped and started to think. “Did you remember anything, did he say where he would take her to?” I asked. “I think something about taking her somewhere that has been able to hold her captive all these years. That is what he said. But honestly, I don’t know where that is” she revealed. Somewhere that has been able to hold her captive all these years. This must be a riddle, but I think I can unravel it. “I see, if there is a place like that, then it must be the mansion. You wait here for the queen, while I go to the mansion right away” I replied.
