BETA TIM’S POV My eyes were focused on the three alphas. I know what the two alphas from Crystal Realm Pack and Black Moon pack are here for today. In the past, I would have been scared of them, but now thanks to Mildrid, I am scared of no one, not even the almighty alpha Fred of our Pack, Diamond Cut Pack. I listened to them speak, the two alphas, as they relayed their fears to my alpha. They are nothing but scared little puppies. I wonder how the wolves in them fare. How would an alpha wolf survive in men as weak as the two of them? Alpha Jake of Black Moon Pack used to be one fierce alpha, but since the issue with his mistress, Violet, he has gone completely soft and indecisive. Now I regret that I gave my daughter to someone like him. Even the weakest and most irrelevant of werewolves in Diamond Cut Pack has more prestige than him. He disgusts me, I felt like chewing him up and spitting him into a bunch of dirt. Sitting here with them, all that I was waiting for was to hear any of them mention my name or make any reference to me. They both know better than to try such. I may be only a beta, but a beta of Diamond Cut pack is a much higher position than any other position in the three brother Packs. I am only answerable to the alpha of Diamond Cut Pack, alpha Fred. If any of them should make the mistake of pointing fingers at me, then I wouldn’t hesitate to use my powers on such a person. I would not think twice before doing that. Where were they when I took over the mantle of going to defend our Packs? If they had been man enough and not caught up in the web of women, then they would have come up with a good strategy and we would have surely defeated that despicable queen of the Pixies. It was just me in that battle, a lonely beta, and I was able to bring the king of Pixolands down. Then think of what the battle would have been if I had three alphas with me, the Pixies would stand no chance against us. Not in the least. “I think we have to act and no need to wait any longer,” alpha Ray said. “What do you think, Jake?” alpha Fred asked. “I would have said we wait, but given the situation of things, waiting does not seem to be the right thing. If we should wait then it will be said that we are waiting for our deaths like cowards. See, we are not the only ones in this, we have our people too and it is our duty to always put them first in whatever decision we make” alpha Jake responded. “You are right, Jake. It will be more honourable that way. At least our people will be aware that we took some steps to salvage the situation and that we did not just sit down waiting for our doom. We are doing this for them” alpha Fred concurred.“Sitting back would have been the best option should we have some ways to defend ourselves from possible invasion,” alpha Jake said. “But then there is none. I would rather insist that we face the reality on ground and not try to build any castle in the air. We should go ahead of the Pixies. I would have suggested we sent spies among them to get information on what they are up to, but since their coalition with the rogues, their security has been watertight. There has been zero tolerance for intruders. All their surrounding lands are their allies. They have the rogues in the far north and Wild Cloak pack up east. There is no way to penetrate them. Their allies would rather die than allow you access to Pixolands” alpha Ray explained. “Wow... Ray, that is a nice digging you did there. Who would have thought that the Pixies were this equipped?” alpha Fred commended. Even I too am impressed. Alpha Ray did go to great lengths to come up with all of these facts. The Pixies are no easy Land to mess with. “I’ve got some allies, and this is as much as they would agree to give me. The piece of information is to save my head if not they wouldn’t have agreed to tell” alpha Ray revealed. “In such case, surrendering now that we still have time is the best. We cannot gamble with the lives of the few members of our Packs that are left. Who knows, we can even enter a treaty with the queen, and her reign over us would only last during her lifetime. In such way, we don’t end up losing the legacy that was left behind by our fathers, and the fathers before them” alpha Jake said. “To bargain with the Pixies for the brother Packs, then we need like two times the size of the brother Packs to exchange. But considering the circumstance surrounding this, we might need to have the whole world to exchange for it” alpha Ray replied with a deep sigh. “Hmm... then how do we go about this?” alpha Fred asked. “You have never given this a thought before now have you, Fred?” alpha Jake asked. “Not at all. Please you should forgive me. Too many things happening all at once and I don’t even know where to look any more” alpha Fred replied as he scratched his hair. He turned to me and asked. “Tim, your daughter... Dawn” My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Dawn, but I immediately comported myself. He must never find out that Dawn has gone missing. That will be too bad for me. “Oh... Dawn. My alpha, I am so happy that you have finally decided to mention her. You can fix the date and I will get her ready” Now, where do I start looking for that god-forsaken girl? Her marriage with the alpha is a union that I have planned for all my life. It is the only way that I can make my lineage stronger and rise above betas. I must make sure that I employ enough mercenaries to go look for her and bring her back here within twenty-four hours.“Has she been found yet, I mean since she went missing? You never mentioned it” he asked. He is aware of Dawn’s missing status? I am doomed. Now how do I begin to explain? “My... alpha I... it was... the battle...” I stammered as I struggled to respond. “Not to worry, Tim, you should have sent people to search for her immediately. Please don’t forget to do so after now” he ordered. “Yes, of course, my alpha. I will get her and make her yours immediately” I replied in delight. “I already made it clear that I can get my own mate, Tim. Please go get Mildrid now, we have to discuss this situation with her. She should have a way out” alpha Fred ordered. “Are you... do you think we need her here?” alpha Jake asked. “Yes, we are already registering some progress” alpha Ray added. “We need her here. Tim, please go get her” alpha Ray replied. “Yes, alpha” I bowed and walked away.
