The Heiress Who Took Revenge

Chapter 659 A Hypocritical Family Dinner

"You’re probably dying of happiness inside, aren’t you? You’ve been completely distracted ever since you’ve been by my side these past few days. Since everyone is eating together tonight, you can feel free to take a few extra looks at her." Tracy deliberately looked toward Zayden after speaking. Zayden, however, didn't give her so much as a glance. Tracy loved to maintain a facade of generosity, but in reality, she was constantly observing his every expression from the shadows. If anything failed to meet her expectations, a sharp slap across the face was usually what followed. But these days were not going to last much longer. Zayden remained silent, but in his mind, he had already begun the countdown to the moment he would leave. "Come on, let’s go see what that troublesome Ms. Eliza has been up to now." Tracy truly couldn't understand it. Even if Eliza was lucky enough to be born into the right family, why was fate so unfair? Why did every member of the Sue family have to treat her so well? It was enough to make anyone burn with envy. Just because Eliza had a sudden whim to investigate an irrelevant organization like Saint Corp, Tristan had poured massive amounts of manpower and resources into helping her. What did Saint Corp have to do with the Sue family anyway? Lately, the entire household had been turned upside down because of this, with Ronaldo and Christian running errands all day long. And now, just because of Emilia’s death anniversary, they had gone through all the trouble of bringing Eliza back home with such fanfare. They were treating her far too well. It was as if even if Eliza asked for the stars in the sky, Tristan would find a way to pluck them down for her. When Tracy reached the main hall, the kitchen staff was frantically busy preparing for dinner. The spread consisted entirely of Eliza’s favorite dishes. It was supposed to be a simple family dinner, yet there were nearly thirty dishes being prepared. It seemed they truly intended to pamper Eliza like a princess. "Ms. Tracy." The butler approached her. Upon seeing him, Tracy put on a beaming smile. "Has Eliza arrived yet? I came early specifically to see if there was anything I could help with." "Since you are already here, Ms. Tracy, please take your seat. She is on her way and should be home shortly." "Alright." Tracy’s face always wore a refined, sweet smile that made it impossible to detect her hostility. She took her seat at the table with Zayden. Sure enough, it wasn't long before Eliza arrived, flanked by Halbert and the other two brothers. Seeing the Sue brothers hovering around Eliza, Tracy felt a pang of jealousy, but she maintained her dignified smile. "Hello, everyone." "Mm." Ronaldo gave a slow, measured nod. Christian responded warmly, "You’ve grown even more beautiful." "You’re joking. Look how old I am now." Before Eliza had been found, Tracy had always been the one following them around. The Sue brothers were kind to her, but their kindness was always tinged with a certain polite distance. At that moment, Tristan walked down from upstairs. It had been several months since her last visit overseas. Eliza hadn't seen Tristan in a long time and expected to feel a sense of estrangement, but as soon as she saw his face, an instinctive sense of closeness washed over her. Though they weren't related by blood in the traditional sense, Tristan was the first person who had ever made her feel the warmth of a real family. "Tristan." "It’s good to have you back." A gentle smile appeared on Tristan’s face. As Tracy watched Tristan smile at Eliza, she remarked, "You clearly missed her quite a bit. Eliza should be able to stay for a while this time, right?" Tracy was desperate to know how long Eliza intended to stay with the Sue family, especially since Nolan hadn't accompanied her. It didn't seem like Eliza planned on staying for long. "Now that Eliza is back, she’ll be staying for at least a week before she leaves. It’s not often Tristan gets to see her, so of course he wants her to stay home for a few days." Halbert answered Tracy on Eliza’s behalf. Hearing that Eliza was only staying for seven days, the smile on Tracy’s face instantly brightened. She had worried Eliza would be staying for weeks; a mere seven days would pass in the blink of an eye. "Let’s eat." At Tristan’s word, everyone took their seats. The table was laden with Eliza’s favorite foods, and Tracy busied herself serving Eliza. "Tristan had the kitchen prepare all of this specifically because he heard these were your favorites. We never get this kind of treatment when we're home." Tracy’s face was full of nothing but affection for Eliza, looking every bit the obedient and sweet younger sister. But only Eliza knew that back in Westbrook, Tracy had been working with Elaine to sabotage her. Clearly, for Tracy, the Sue family's favor was everything. Even if she despised Eliza, she would continue to play the part of the welcoming sister as long as the brothers were watching.
