The Heiress Who Took Revenge
“Where’s the surveillance footage for this restaurant? Get it for me now.” “It’s available, but the two of them are in a blind spot behind a pillar. We can’t see anything.” Hearing the security guard, Colton’s face darkened. This Matteo was definitely trouble. A negotiation this secretive… he was clearly just being deliberately mysterious. “Forget it. We’ll go eat too.” Colton grabbed Lewis’s arm, and the two ran toward the mall’s fifth floor. It was the weekend, and the mall was extremely crowded. Colton and Lewis finally made it to the restaurant, only to be told they needed to queue. “Queue? Do you know who I am?” Colton was about to pull rank, but Lewis stopped him in time. The waiter thought they were there to cause trouble and immediately said, “I’m sorry, sir, but it doesn't matter who you are. You have to queue. There are six tables ahead of you. Please wait a moment.” The waiter handed Colton a queue ticket. Lewis knew Colton had a short fuse. He put a hand on Colton’s arm and said to the waiter, “Get your manager. Don't let anyone know.” With that, Lewis pulled several bills from his pocket and pressed them into the waiter's hand. The waiter, seeing the cash and the two impossibly handsome men, finally did as Lewis asked and went to get the manager. The manager, hearing someone was looking for him, hurried out. He recognized Colton and Lewis the moment he saw them. They had come by yesterday to arrange surveillance and had, with a wave of their hand, booked out the entire restaurant. Today, the restaurant was at their service. “My sincere apologies. That waiter is new. I’ll take you in right now.” Colton wasn't in the mood for flattery. “Cut the crap. We need a table next to those two, in a spot where we won't be seen.” The manager glanced at Nolan and Matteo, who seemed to be deep in conversation. He nodded at Colton and Lewis. “Right away, sirs. I’ll take care of it.” As the manager left, Colton and Lewis kept their eyes fixed on Nolan and Matteo.Inside the restaurant, Matteo had already noticed Colton and Lewis at the entrance. Although they had never been formally introduced, he knew who they were. “Mr. Hayes, did you have those two follow you because you don’t trust me?” Matteo’s unhurried words made Nolan realize this conversation could not be overheard by a third party. He took out his phone and called Colton. Outside, Colton had just answered when he heard Nolan say, “You don’t need to watch. Get out.” After saying that, Nolan hung up. Colton, standing outside the restaurant, was anxious. He was worried about his best friend, and his friend was telling him to back off. Lewis was also worried; Matteo was not someone to be trifled with. This meeting was strange, and Lewis was still suspicious of him. “If Nolan said so, let's go. With Nolan’s skills, Matteo can’t do much to him anyway.” The two walked away from the restaurant entrance, but they kept their eyes on the door. With this many people around, Matteo shouldn't be able to try anything. At that moment, a waiter inside, following Colton's earlier instructions, placed dishes on the table. While the two were distracted, the waiter slipped a listening device under the table. Colton had prepared for everything. He put on his headphones. “Now we’ll know what they’re saying. If anything sounds wrong, we rush in.” But just as he put the headphones on, he heard nothing but static. Lewis pulled the headphones off Colton. “Did you really think Matteo was as stupid as you? That he wouldn't bring anti-surveillance equipment?” “I…” Colton’s face darkened. That bastard. “So what now? We just sit here and wait?” “It's all we can do for now.”
