The Heiress Who Took Revenge
“So what now? Does this mean we have no way to find Eliza?” Colton was exhausted. “What is that old bastard thinking? Does he want to use Eliza to threaten us? Or threaten the Sue family? Does Nathaniel have the nerve?” Nathaniel had indeed been arrogant in his youth, but this was no longer his era. Even his own men didn't dare stir up trouble recklessly. Nathaniel himself might talk tough, but he hadn't made a fatal move in years. This was a society ruled by law, not the chaotic times of his youth. That's why Nathaniel ordering Matteo to grab Eliza seemed so unbelievable to them. Who was Eliza? The precious daughter of the Sue family, held in the palm of their hands. By taking her, Nathaniel was preparing for an all-out war with them. Colton felt this didn't seem like Nathaniel's style. But the surveillance footage confirmed he knew about it, and Matteo had always obeyed Nathaniel and would never act alone. Besides, Matteo was supposed to be their guy. “Let's just find a way to contact Nathaniel first.” Henry felt the most important thing was to get in touch with him. Since Nathaniel had taken Eliza, he would certainly contact them. He must want something from them. Just taking her was pointless; he had to negotiate. When that time came, they could consider whatever demands he made. Just then, Nolan's phone buzzed with a text. The number was unlisted, but Nolan had a feeling it was from the Hartwell family. He opened it. The message was from Matteo: Eliza was moved by Nathaniel. He's working with Cramer, trying to profit from this. Seeing the text, Colton swore, “Fuck! I knew that old bastard was up to no good! So he's working with Cramer!” He looked at Nolan. “What’s the plan? We’ll follow your lead!” Another message from Matteo came through: "Tomorrow, noon. Come to this address." Matteo sent an address. Nolan zoomed in and saw it was a restaurant in a downtown shopping mall. Meeting in a place like that was unlikely to attract attention. For Eliza's sake, Nolan knew he had to meet Matteo. If he didn't, he might never find out where she was. Nolan replied with a simple "Okay" and closed his phone.Lewis, watching from the side, felt something was wrong, though he couldn't put his finger on it. He said, “You should bring backup to the meeting tomorrow. I have a bad feeling about this.” There were still too many unresolved questions. Perhaps as an outsider, Lewis felt that Matteo himself was the bigger problem. But Colton didn't think so. He was convinced it was the old bastard Nathaniel, trying to squeeze them for profit. Everyone in Westbrook knew Nathaniel had a bad character. Nothing he did would surprise them. Colton said, “We’ll all go tomorrow. I want to see what Nathaniel is really trying to pull.” Lewis shook his head. “Too many people will draw attention. I'll have men posted around the mall. If there's any trouble, our guys will move in immediately. I don't believe Nathaniel won't release her if we get our hands on Matteo.” “Okay.” Nolan agreed instantly. He just hoped Eliza was safe in Nathaniel's hands. Otherwise, he would never let Nathaniel and the Hartwell family off the hook. Meanwhile, Eliza hadn't touched any of the food Matteo had brought. When Matteo entered the room, he saw her sitting silently on the bed. The food he’d brought was untouched. “You really don't want to live.” Matteo had thought Eliza was a smart person who would eat to preserve her strength. He hadn't expected her to be so stubborn, refusing to eat even when she knew it was the only food she'd get. “You sent the text to Nolan today, didn't you?” “You're very smart.” Hearing Matteo confirm it, Eliza clenched her fists. This meant Matteo had already arranged to meet Nolan. And Nolan, worried for her safety, would definitely meet Matteo immediately. Matteo observed her reaction, knowing she was worried. He said unhurriedly, “You worry too much. You know what Nolan is like. He won't be easily manipulated. I still need to gain his trust. Otherwise, I'll never be able to complete my plan.”
