The Heiress Who Took Revenge
“This is reckless.” Even the usually composed Lewis felt Nolan had lost his composure this time. But to find Eliza as soon as possible, Colton and Lewis joined the chaotic search, going door-to-door through the villa district. After ensuring each house was clear, they continued their canvassing. “I did see two strange cars this afternoon,” one maid answered. “One was a terrifying-looking man with a scar on his face, yes, and he was carrying a sack.” Hearing about the sack, Colton and Lewis immediately identified the suspect. It had to be Matteo who had kidnapped Eliza and hidden her in this villa district. Nathaniel and Naomi had followed close behind. Because there were other residents in the district, the servants had noticed Matteo. “Is it this house?” Colton pointed to a villa. The maid nodded. “That’s the one. I'm absolutely sure.” Lewis asked several other maids, who also confirmed seeing Matteo take Eliza there. But Nolan was faster than both of them. He had already kicked open the iron gate and was heading inside. Seeing Nolan like this, Lewis and Colton rubbed their temples. While they understood Matteo had taken Eliza, Nolan's actions still amounted to trespassing. The Nolan of the past would never have done such a thing. But now that Eliza was missing, Nolan didn't care about that. After kicking the door open, he rushed in to search for her. Colton and Lewis didn't dare delay and immediately sent their own men to search every room, determined to find her. But when they entered, they found it was just an empty house. There was no one inside. Even after searching the underground garage, it was still empty. “Maybe those people saw wrong. It must not have been this villa. I'll have my men check the neighboring houses.” Just as Colton was about to send his men next door, Nolan noticed the cracks in the floorboards. Although the floor had been cleaned, traces of blood were still visible in the cracks. The blood hadn't dried yet; it must have been left a very short time ago. Upon seeing the blood, Nolan’s face grew even darker.Colton and Lewis’s faces changed, too. If Eliza had been in this villa, this blood was very likely hers. Colton couldn't help but call out Nolan’s name. Nolan's hand was trembling as he touched the bloodstain. The blood had been intentionally cleaned up, which meant there had likely been a large amount of it. Nolan couldn't bring himself to think about whose blood it was. He didn't dare to imagine what he would do if it was Eliza's. “Actually, I don't think this blood is necessarily Eliza's. What if she was already rescued?” Colton tried to lighten the mood, but Lewis elbowed him. All three of them knew that, in all likelihood, the blood was Eliza's. Just then, Henry arrived with his men. When he saw Nolan on the ground staring at the blood, his face changed. “What happened?” He had only been gone a short while. Why was there blood in the room? “Sample it immediately!” Henry was the calmest one there. Right now, identifying the blood was the most important task. “You, take some men and search this place top to bottom. Then go to the district's security office and get the surveillance footage. Report back to me immediately.” “Yes, Mr. Foster.” “We don't need to panic yet. Now that we know this is the last place Eliza disappeared, I'll have people investigate the surveillance in this district. We should be able to find her soon.” Henry’s words seemed directed at Nolan, but also at himself. He knew what kind of person Nathaniel was. If Nathaniel really intended to move against Eliza, he must have a reason. But they still didn't know why he would have Matteo take her. “Didn't we say Matteo was on our side? He probably wouldn't let anything happen to Eliza. I think Eliza is, at worst, just injured. And this blood might not even be hers.” Lewis also tried to console Nolan. But Nolan knew very well that he didn't need consolation. He needed to find Eliza, doing whatever it took.
