Beta Dezra’s p.o.v. Damn, there is no way to hide the truth anymore. What the fuck did I ever do to her? Why is she out to ruin me and my family? “Princess Dezra, how did you feel when you shifted into a Lycan at seventeen?” The Captain asks me and for a moment, I am not sure how to answer her question. “I mean, were you happy to become your Brother’s Beta?” “I never wanted this position. I don’t think a woman should hold this position, I never have.” I answer her with the truth. I never felt it was a woman’s place to order men around, to outrank her Mate. I prayed to the Goddess every day to grant me a Wolf; after I turned seventeen, I would pray for only boys to be born into my bloodline. “Did Prince Darron know who you were when you both met?” The Captain asks me. She definitely knows more than she should or than I wanted anyone to know. “Yes, he knew who I was.” I answer her. I am forced by Vaughn’s order to answer her questions, but I don’t have to elaborate or add information she didn’t ask for. She picks up the same file as when she was questioning Darron about Iron Moon Pack. It looks like a Pack file, but I can’t see if it is a personal file or not.“Do you know who his ancestor is, Princess Dezra?” The Captain asks and for a moment, I allow myself to fight my Brother’s order; this is a question I don’t want to answer. “Yes, I know who his ancestor is.” I answer her. You don’t have to be a genius to know what she will ask next. “His Great-Grandfather was mated to Princess Dyala, he found a second connection a few years after her death.” She smiles as she hands the file to Elder Zane, who confirms my answer to the rest and I start to wonder what else she uncovered during her investigation. “Princess Dezra, we already know that you didn’t meet Prince Darron twenty years ago. Is he the Father of your two Sons?” The Captain asks. “Yes, Dave and Benton are his children.” I answer her. “Is Prince Darron the Father of the child you miscarried?” She asks and no matter how hard I try, I can’t stop myself from answering her. “No, he is not.” I answer her, but I already know that my family will hear the truth soon enough and my future, as well as that of my bloodline, will be gone. The Captain walks back to the table and stacks the files she has been using. Once she is done, she turns to face my Brother. Damn, she looks dangerous the way she is looking at him and yet he doesn’t put her back in her place. My Lycan has not been with me for ages. She has been dormant for a long time, yet I can feel her stir in the back of my head. “Your Majesty, I want to be very clear with you and everyone else in this Throne room. I hate what happened with Princess Dyala and how your family did nothing against it. A week from today, you will have informed the Kingdom about what I have uncovered or I will release everything myself.” She says. Vaughn looks at her for a moment before looking at Elder Jensen; everyone can see that they are in a mind-link and it takes a few minutes for them to turn their attention back to the Captain. “Captain, I will disclose all you have uncovered to the Kingdom. We need to make many changes and this will be a good start.” Vaughn answers her, yet no one has mentioned her name. “Prince Quinlan, I assume that your Father has started your training. Did he show you your family’s Succession Law?” The Captain asks and I wonder where she is going with that question. “I have read it and even asked my Father a few questions about it.” Quinlan answers. After he has answered, Elder Jensen walks over to the Captain to hand her a file. She turns it around so that we all see that she is holding the file with our family’s Succession Law. Why does she need to have our Succession Law? “Prince Everett, this is just hypothetical. You will become Prince Quinlan’s Beta if you shift into a Lycan. Can you decline your position?” The Captain asks him. Everett turns his attention to Vaughn and Quinlan because he doesn’t know the answer to her question. I do have the answer, but she didn’t ask me.“Yes, any member of the Royal family can decline their position. They have to tell me the reason for declining their position and I have to make sure that it is not a rash decision on their part.” Vaughn answers. “Is every family member aware of that possibility, Your Majesty?” She asks and I know I am in trouble, no matter what else she might have uncovered. My mind is racing in every direction, trying to figure out why she started investigating me. I want to know how she realized that something was off. Did Alpha Leon say anything to Vaughn? Did one of them recognize me in one of the paintings? No, there would be no reason for Alpha Leon to mention my name. Nor would they have encountered any paintings with me in them; I made sure of that after returning home. “Yes, every family member is informed about it in the weeks leading up to their seventeenth birthday.” Vaughn answers her. “Princess Dezra, you stated that you never wanted to become your Brother’s Beta and had a way out. Why didn’t you decline the position?” The Captain asks. Damn, I have to answer her and that means that Vaughn will start questioning everything. Even if the Captain hasn’t uncovered it yet, Vaughn will eventually. “I wanted my bloodline….” I try to stop myself from speaking for a second. “I wanted my bloodline to stay in control of the Kingdom, it is a luxury life and I didn’t want to lose that.” My parents gasp while my Brother has trouble keeping a lid on his anger toward me and even my children radiate anger.
