Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 170 An Alliance

Meadow’s p.o.v. “Amelinda means work serpent or weak worker.” I hear Milcah explain through the mind-link as she releases her aura and brings the girl to her knees. “Weak is definitely accurate in her case.” Malek responds as we all try to keep a straight face. “She has been trying to get Magnus to accept her as a chosen Mate since he turned eighteen. No matter how he turned her down, she wouldn’t take the hint.” “Don’t ever release your aura on my Sister again or I will make you pay.” Corbett says as he helps Amelinda to her feet. I slowly get out of my seat to step between Corbett and Milcah, because no one gets away with threatening my friend and future Luna. “And how were you planning on doing that, if I might ask?” I keep my eyes locked with his. I make sure that he and his Wolf feel the presence of Rebel, but it seems that he overestimates his own power. “I will contact the Elders and have her removed from the Luna position. No Elder will allow an Omega to run a Pack, whether it is big or small.” Corbett answers. I shrug my shoulders because I know that the Elders will never deny a Shifter their title. It is against the law to keep a Shifter from their position, whether it is through birth or mating. “Be my guest. Want me to dial Elder Chelsea’s number for you?” I state as Makay hands me my phone. More guests have arrived in the meantime, but I doubt Corbett or his Sister has noticed. They are so damn full of themselves and believe that they can have Milcah removed from her position as the future Luna. “I don’t know who you think you are, but as an Omega, you should know your place in this world. It is in the kitchen and out of sight of high-ranking Shifters.” Amelinda responds. “Why are they so convinced that we are Omegas? Milcah brought her to her knees in a split second.” I ask as I look at Magnus, but he has no answer for me. “Hello, Meadow. What can I do for you?” Elder Chelsea’s voice rings through the ballroom because I had put my phone on speaker. “Elder Chelsea, Alpha Corbett and his Sister want to ask you something. They can hear you and so can everyone else.” I answer her. Corbett looks over his shoulder to see that two other Alphas and their Pack-members have arrived, he has a smirk in his face when he turns back to face me. “Elder Chelsea, I have some concerns about Gold Moon. Magnus is planning to take over in the future with an Omega by his side and I feel it is my duty to point out that it will not benefit the Pack to be led by an Omega.” Corbett says. For a moment, it is quiet on the other end of the line. The smirk on Corbett’s face disappears when Elder Chelsea starts laughing uncontrollably. “Alpha Corbett, this is Elder Josiah. As you can hear, Elder Chelsea finds your concerns laughable and so do I. Milcah comes from a long line of Alphas and is strong enough to put you on your knees. Please don’t bother us with this ever again. Meadow, as a team leader, you can explain the law to him.” Elder Josiah says before he breaks the connection. I make sure to explain the law in detail and loudly enough for everyone in the ballroom to hear. “Come anywhere near us again tonight and I will personally toss you out of the territory.” I growl at Corbett, my voice interlaced with that of Rebel. “Ladies and gentlemen, you just witnessed how a Renegade Warrior deals with an Alpha. I need to warn you all, she is also the future Beta female of Gold Moon Pack, as she is mated to Beta Lennox’s twin boys. Milcah is mated to my Son, Magnus. Marley is mated to Gamma Layton’s twin boys. I wouldn’t cross any of those girls if I were you. However, if you would like to find out what they are capable of. I would say, be my guest.” Alpha Lincoln says. It takes a few minutes for the dust to settle. Drinks are served as soon as everyone has taken a seat and we wait for Alpha Lincoln’s speech. “The Alpha Ceremony will be held after dinner. I hope that tonight, some of you will find your fated Mate. If you don’t, there is always another Full Moon in a month or so.” Alpha Lincoln says before he takes a seat as well. I have never been to an Alpha Ceremony before and I asked many questions leading up to this day. Black Valley Pack has always used the same setup for the Ceremony as the Royals do for a Coronation and I believe I would prefer this compared to what other Packs do. Tables are set up around the ballroom, leaving enough space for a dance floor. Each Pack has a few empty spots when all Pack-members are seated, which are usually at the table where the Alpha sits. Leona explained that it was to maintain oversight of the guests while still allowing them to mingle with one another. Apparently, most Packs allow their guests to wander around without any restrictions and that can cause some issues. A Pack places rows of seats in the ballroom or garden for the Ceremony, but not for the times between activities. “It looked as if they were in a classroom.” Rebel mumbles as I remember a few of the pictures that Leona showed us from other Alpha Ceremonies. “At least she didn’t have to explain what kind of issues it could cause.” I respond. We were each able to mention an issue or two when she asked us what could happen if you were to let Shifters wander around your territory. “Alpha Lincoln, thank you for the invitation. I am curious, though. Why would you allow untrained women to sit at your table?” A woman asks. I saw her sneaking into the ballroom during Lincoln’s speech, so she must have missed the altercation between me and Alpha Corbet. “I mean, if you want to place women at your table to keep vultures away from your children, you'd better ensure that they know protocol.” She continues when no one responds to her insult.“Alpha Corbett, get a handle in that Mate of yours. If she insults me or my family ever again, you will lose our alliance agreement.” Lincoln growls and the room falls silent. Having a powerful Lycan threatening to take away an alliance, is a sure thing to make an Alpha to become the laughingstock of the Kingdom.
