Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Malek’s p.o.v. It is almost time for lunch when Alpha Lincoln returns Magnus’ call. It took them some time to deal with Bruno’s blatant disrespect and they haven’t heard the best part yet. “Bruno is in the dungeons at the moment. I am not going to let him out as long as we are in the territory. Meadow might kill him if they cross paths.” Magnus says before he tells them about what happened. “Misha, don’t let him out until I have returned. I will deal with the Asshole myself.” Madden responds. After a few more pleasantries, Magnus informs them that we will head back to Gold Moon territory after lunch. We have enough information to utilize Meadow’s ability for our assignment and I hope we can safely escort Marley and her Grandmother out. “I hope we can get a piece of that fucking Idiot.” Barison growls softly in my head. I think we have to get in line for it, because Meadow will take a swing at him first. “Captain Miles, do you have any idea when we will move in on Alpha Devlin?” Mauro asks. “I need to make sure everyone understands that Meadow is in charge and anyone who has a problem with that gets replaced, not that I am going to tell them upfront." Captain Miles answers. Mauro and I both chuckle. Captain Miles is correct. If we want to enter that territory, everyone needs to follow the instructions Meadow might give them and not resist her every step of the way. We know that Alpha Devlin took every precaution he could to hide most of the cottage in the territory and probably a few more to make it even more challenging to get across the borders. “Can we take another look at the map?” Barison asks me. “Something has been bugging me about the Pack-house, but I haven’t been able to figure it out. Another look at the map might help.” Barison likes to review every scenario he can think of and see if he can find a way out of certain situations. It mainly results in changes to patrol patterns to cover every inch of the border we have or the rotation of patrol members, as he has noticed that certain Shifters are better at functioning as a team. I pull up the map once I have taken the laptop out of my backpack and I listen to him as he mentions everything he sees. “Why would an Alpha place his Pack-house in the middle of the forest?” Barison mumbles after a few minutes. I zoom in on the location of the Pack-house to get a better understanding of his question. Trees surround the Pack-house and if nature runs its course, the forest will swallow the Pack-house in a few years. “Captain, we need to take a closer look at both maps. The sooner we resolve this mystery, the better it will be.” I say as we exit the SUVs. “What did Barison come up with?” Dad asks when he hears my statement and I smile at him because he knows our Shifters as well as our Human half. Everyone follows us as we walk to the ballroom and I walk straight up to the screen to pull up the older map of Seven Cloud territory. “Alpha Lincoln, what is the first thing an Alpha does when he moves into a territory?” I ask him. “Of an existing territory, he will check the border markings and any unpatrolled sections. If he moves into an uninhabited territory, whether it has never been used before or was previously abandoned, he starts from the borders and works his way to the center. Once he understands the layout of his territory, he finds the best-suited location for the Pack-house. Not too close to the border or the forest and there has to be enough room for a driveway and some parking spots.” Alpha Lincoln answers. With a laser pen, I run a circle around the Pack-house and watch as it becomes clear what Barison uncovered. “What is he hiding near the Pack-house?” Alpha Lincoln asks, but none of us has the answer for him. “The cottage where my Mother and Marley are living.” I hear an unfamiliar voice say. “Devlin doesn’t want to listen to my Mother’s screams, but doesn’t want her too far away either. He wants to be able to taunt her whenever he wants.” Iniko points out where the cottage is located and as he turns around to say something, his jaw drops. “Are both of you from the Belleron bloodline?” He asks as he looks from Meadow to Milcah, after he has regained his senses. “She is, but I am not.” Meadow answers as she points at Milcah. “I am the last female descendant of the Sarraveron bloodline, my Brother and my Uncle are the last male descendants.” I knew that Meadow was from a gifted bloodline, but I never heard her mention which bloodline and I never heard her use her surname. “You have the same hair color as Marley, even the waves in your hair are similar. The difference is in your eye color. Marley has emerald green eyes, while you have golden eyes and yours are amber.” He says as he looks from Milcah to Meadow. “I believe you were about to say something else, Iniko.” Dad says as he steps forward. “Oh, yeah. The prison is actually a house next to the Pack-house, I believe it was built for guests to stay in. Devlin fenced it in and put up around-the-clock surveillance. The only ones allowed in and out are the Omegas.” Iniko says before pointing at another location on the map. Everyone leans down to look at the maps on the table or their tablet and I realize it wasn’t one of the spots we had picked. This house is very close to the Pack-house, which makes breaking them out more complicated. “I will contact the King and ask him how he wants you to handle this.” Elder Chelsea says as she walks out of the ballroom. Alpha Lincoln guides Iniko out of the ballroom and the rest of our leadership follows them, leaving only the members of two Squads and every Elite Warrior behind. “Can I have everyone’s attention, please?” Captain Miles asks. “During this mission, we will all follow the instructions and orders of Meadow. If she says duck, you duck and if she says left, you go left.” As we suspected, there are a few men who are looking at Meadow with disgust, but they will pay for their disrespect for our future Beta female.
