Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 103 Firing Questions

Magnus’ p.o.v. Five minutes before we arrive at Frozen Star Pack, Dad wakes me up. Guess I needed to get some shut-eye and I am glad I get some time to get my bearings back. My eyes widen in surprise when I see only one Warrior at the gate. I have never been to a Pack that had fewer than four Warriors guarding the entrance. “Four Wolves right inside the territory, a few feet away to our left.” Meadow says and I thank the Goddess once again for giving her that particular ability. “How can I help you?” The Warrior asks. He doesn’t look into the SUV and therefore doesn’t see that there is an Elder in the vehicle. “Open the gate and inform your Alpha that Elder Chelsea is here to see him.” Dad states. “And don’t even think about making us wait, open the damn gate.” He releases some of his Alpha aura to show the Warrior that he means business and the Warrior is smart enough to open the gate without any further words. I am still amazed at how accurately Dad can aim his aura at someone. I still mess up most of the time and put others on their knees while practicing. Everyone is convinced I will be able to control it as well as Dad or even better. A male is pacing on the front porch, but I don’t remember seeing a picture of him in Frozen Star’s file. He stops pacing when the door behind him opens and I see a very pissed off Alpha Ferdinand walk out. “Elder Chelsea, what is the meaning of this? You are aware of the fact that I don’t like unannounced visits.” He says as he walks toward her, but his face pales the second his eyes land on Dad. “Alpha Lincoln, why are you here?” Oh, yeah. Same response as usual, every Alpha wants to know what brings my Dad to their doorstep, as it usually doesn’t predict much good. “Ferdinand, why didn’t you tell me that we would have guests? I would have prepared some refreshments for them.” A woman, I assume, is Katreena, says. “What kind of refreshments do you make, Luna?” Meadow asks as she steps next to Elder Chelsea. “I have visited a few Packs as a Renegade, but I have never seen a Luna handle the refreshments herself.” But before Katreena can respond, Meadow turns toward Dad. “Sorry, Alpha Lincoln. I forgot that Luna Leona deals with that herself.” Dad has a shit eating grin on his face and some of us try to hide our smiles behind our hands or someone’s back. None of us wants to make Alpha Ferdinand think that we are disrespectful of his Luna. “Not that he would be far off, if he did think that.” Gilliam responds to my thoughts and my grin only grows larger. Gilliam is right, we don’t respect a woman who takes another man’s Mate and we don’t care about the circumstances.“There are many Pack-members around, but they are staying out of sight. More are approaching the Pack-house.” Meadow informs us. “Why don’t we go to my office, Elder Chelsea. My Luna will look after the rest of them.” Alpha Ferdinand says as he moves toward the front door. “The living room will suffice. My team and I will not leave Elder Chelsea unprotected and I believe Alpha Lincoln has an interest in this conversation as well.” Meadow states flatly. Alpha Ferdinand gives Meadow a murderous look, but when her Mates step next to her, he backs off. “Alpha Ferdinand, Meadow is a team leader in a Renegade Squad and she is the future Beta female of Gold Moon Pack. I suggest that you show her some respect, unless you would like to face me in war.” Dad growls, his voice interlaced with that of Kenyon. No one in their right mind would mistake this for a joke. Luckily, someone walking out the front door distracts Alpha Ferdinand from responding and I recognize him as this Pack’s Gamma with the Beta right behind him. “Fine, we can use the living room. Landis, follow me. You might as well learn a few things today.” Alpha Ferdinand says and I am taken aback by the lack of Alpha aura Landis has. Meadow and her team spread out across the living room, checking each window and door, opening them enough for Pack-members to hear what is being said. “Magnus, I told you that every Alpha will take the opportunity to teach their heir when the chance presents itself.” Dad says. “I know most meetings are boring, but being an Alpha isn’t a party. At least not most of the time.” “I am glad that you brought your future leadership along, Alpha Lincoln. I truly believe that they will learn more easily and quickly if they start their training at a young age.” Elder Chelsea says. Someone clearly didn’t tell her that I wouldn’t have become an Alpha if it hadn’t been for two major incidents. One was Alpha Hank’s blatant disrespect of my Mother and the other was Rory screwing up. “She knows. She just isn’t willing to explain the situation to Alpha Ferdinand if he hasn’t figured it out himself.” Gilliam states. “Either Dad told her or she came to a logical conclusion.” Once everyone is seated, a few Omegas walk in with some trays, placing refreshments and snacks on the coffee table. “Elder Chelsea, I would like to know why you thought it was a good idea to pay me an unannounced visit.” Alpha Ferdinand says and I am stunned at the disrespect he shows an Elder—an Elder who answers to the King and is known to tell the truth. “Alpha Ferdinand, I assume that you know our laws and therefore, I assume that you know how to report squatters in your territory. Whether you use that part of your territory or not.” Elder Chelsea replies. He growls softly and his Beta seems to understand where this conversation is heading. “Why didn’t you inform us that Shifters were squatting in Grand Valley territory? Or did you know it was Winston Daystone?” Elder Chelsea fires the questions at him. “I suggest that you answer with the truth. We already questioned Winston Daystone in the matter.” All eyes are on Alpha Ferdinand, each of us curious as to what his answer might be.
