First Love Is Yours, True Love Is Mine

Chapter 156 My Hands Are Numb

Dawn tilted her head up. "What does that mean?" Ethan didn't reply. If he truly told Dawn what he thought, she'd probably get way too smug. "Nothing." He was just blooming with joy. His eyes stayed on the girl in his arms. He lowered his head and kissed her forehead, his voice low and warm. "You don't need to overthink. Back when you leaned on me, I wasn't exactly all that innocent either." Dawn looked at that perfect face so close to hers, and her heart tripped. Almost in a daze, she whispered, "Ethan." "Yeah?" "You're so good."Ethan chuckled softly. Only she would think he was good. Dawn pursed her lips. Then, she quickly leaned over, kissed his cheek, and rolled away smoothly. She flipped back the blanket and hopped out of bed, not giving him the slightest chance to react. Turning back, she flashed a grin. "You probably didn't sleep well last night. Rest some more. Morning!" When she disappeared into the bathroom, Ethan finally looked away. He picked up his phone and unlocked it. Aside from work messages, over 200 unread group messages lit up the screen. Since last night, people had been tagging him every few lines. Before he could scroll, Alex dropped another one. "What's going on? Hiding? Or did you already win her over? Want me to teach you a few tricks, Ethan?" Ethan flexed his fingers and typed back."Sorry, my hands are still numb from holding my wife all night. Don't yours get numb?" After sending that, he tossed the phone down, closed his eyes, and leaned back. By the time Dawn came out dressed and freshened up, he had one arm tucked under his head, eyes closed like he'd already fallen back asleep. Her gaze lingered, and she couldn't help smiling. This feeling wasn't bad at all. In a great mood, she tiptoed out of the room and went downstairs. Hannah was making breakfast in the kitchen. Soft music floated from the living room where Tara, dressed in workout clothes, was in mid-yoga pose. Hearing footsteps, Tara turned her head. She was still holding a tricky pose and nearly toppled over. "Mrs. Jackson, careful!"Dawn panicked and rushed forward, but Tara managed to plop down safely on her yoga mat. Tara smiled warmly. "I'm fine, Dawn. I wouldn't fall from this." "Still, you should be careful." Dawn walked over, grinning. "Morning, Mrs. Jackson." "Morning," Tara answered, though her mind was elsewhere. She tugged Dawn down onto the couch, whispering, "Come on, tell me—what happened last night? Hmm? How far did it go?" Seeing Tara's excited face, Dawn instantly knew what she was asking. She got a little awkward. "We ... we're doing fine." Tara had experience, so she could tell that nothing had happened last night. Her eyes sparkled as she leaned closer."I'll tell you a trick. If you do this, Ethan will be wrapped around your finger." By the time Ethan came down, the dining room was buzzing with laughter. Dawn and Tara were chatting while picking at breakfast."Ethan was such a troublemaker when as a kid. He must've been three or four. His grandpa always kept a tea set in the courtyard, and this brat climbed up and peed in a teacup!" Dawn's eyes went wide. "Wait—did his grandpa actually drink it?" "Almost!" Tara laughed out loud. "Come on, no way he missed that terrible smell!" She even sounded let down. Dawn bit back her laugh, stuffed a mini donut in her mouth, and chewed. Tara's mouth was dry from talking, so she picked up her milk. But just as she lifted it, someone suddenly snatched it away from behind. A cool, flat voice said, "Mom, that's enough. Don't drink too much milk." Tara froze, then muttered weakly, "I didn't even have enough. I barely ate ... " "Gossiping also counts as eating."What a petty brat! Tara didn't dare tease him, though. Instead, she glared at her son, grabbed a plate of mini donuts, and stood up. "Ungrateful boy! I'll eat everything you own!" She then stormed into the living room. Ethan rubbed his nose helplessly, already sensing trouble ahead.
