The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary
Jocelyn’s p.o.v. Christian and Faye have gotten into a routine that allows me to feed both of them, Christian patiently waits until Faye is done before he starts to fuss. He wakes up after Faye does and he never falls asleep before she does, almost like Christian is taking care of her needs first. They love sleeping close together, grumpy when they get separated and we make sure it happens as less as possible. Jenna follows me around, but if she isn’t by my side than she is with Joey and like the big Brother he is, he keeps a close eye on her. Tonight will be the last stretch of our journey, tonight we will all be able to sleep in a bed and I hope that I will be able to sleep without my Pups. Yes, my Pups, because they are my Pups in every way. “Okay, can I have everyone’s attention?” Indigo shouts out and everyone turns in her direction. “After dinner we will embark on the last piece of our journey and I want to say that I am proud of how each of you has handled him or herself. We have seen things none of us should have, we have lost one Warrior and he will be greatly missed. There also have been additions to this Pack and that includes myself and Jocelyn. Tonight we will sleep in a bed, but if you prefer the floor, don’t be ashamed of it. Alpha Inti will give the last instructions, so just a few more minutes before you can eat.” Indigo says teasingly. Inti steps next to Indigo and smiles lovingly at her, I believe another bond is forming. “If everything goes to plan we will arrive at White Mountain Pack around midnight, we will not stop until we reach the Pack-house. Everyone will have a few days to get acquainted with the territory and to catch up on some sleep, after that we will return to a normal routine.” Inti says and then gesture to everyone to get some dinner.Dinner is chaotic and loud with less than five hours to get to our end station and everyone helps to get the mess cleaned up, eager to get back within a territory. I was able to send a message to Mom this morning and an hour ago I got a message back. Mom and Aunt Noa are happy, both of them feel comfortable with Grant and Nelson. If the connection is stable at White Mountain Pack I will call Mom, she send me Grant’s number and I have to keep reminding myself that I am not allowed to call him Alpha. “Mom, can I stay with you tonight?” Joey asks and I still get emotional when he calls me that. It also makes Erylis laugh, because I am only eight years older than Joey. I wrap an arm around his shoulder to pull him closer and I tell him that he can stay with me tonight, I doubt I can get any of them to sleep in a room of their own. After kissing all of my Pups, I close the door of the SUV and walk to the rear to join Joseph. Anyone can see that he is eager to leave, eager to finally get home and see his family again. Ronion gives a soft howl to indicate our departure and the convoy starts to slowly roll out. A part of me is sad that our journey is over, but the biggest part of me is happy that I will get a chance to settle down and see my Pups grow up. I never thought that at the age of twenty one I would have four Pups, but Erylis and I consider them ours with all of our heart. I send a thank you up to the Goddess for letting that Warrior see the grass move, for making Griffin curious enough to check it out and for keeping Jenna and Faye safe. It is as if the trip is easier, but I know that is just wishful thinking. It is still a matter of keeping our senses and eyes open, there still might be something out there that can mess with our plans and I hear Erylis growl softly at those thoughts. The convoy slows down when it gets darker, windows get rolled up and I believe that most Pups are already in a deep sleep. The SUV with the missing door is at the rear of the convoy, only the driver and a passenger in the front. Joseph didn’t want any Pups in that SUV, but he also didn’t want to leave it behind and this was the safest thing we could come up with. I can sense a change in Griffin and he seems to have trouble with the pace we are keeping. “Griffin, calm down. You know what Inti’s orders were, we don’t stop until we reach the Pack-house.” I say to him and Erylis moves a little closer towards him. He keeps focused on Erylis and not his surroundings, probably the best way for him to keep running next to her. I ask Joseph to tell me more about his parents, I know I need a distraction and I hope it will keep Griffin preoccupied too. I find out that his Father is a genius when it comes to finances and his Mother is the muscles in this relationship. We both laugh when he tells me a story his Aunt Eos once told him about his Father and I get to hear about a pillow fight his parents had, sounds like he had a great family to grow up with. “Five minutes to midnight.” One of the female Warriors calls out over the mind-link and Griffin’s head shoots up. I can hear other Shifters around us and I sigh in relief when Indigo tells me that she just crossed the border, the convoy and our Pack-members following. To our left and right, I can see Wolves and Lycans at the border and they close the passage across the border behind us. We have finally reach our destination and we can finally let our guard down. “Welcome home.” I say to Joseph and Griffin through the mind-link, Griffin moves even closer to Erylis and both of them slow down even more. The Warriors pass us, giving Griffin and Erylis some time to themselves. I can see a lot of people near the Pack-house, but I also know that they don’t belong to Little Crescent Pack. These are members of White Mountain Pack and their allies. Like they were told, the Pups and Youngsters stay in the SUVs and they won’t come out until Inti tells them it is okay.
