The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary
Ynanna’s P.O.V. When Armas told us that Aziza would question Roger and that for once I was to watch an interview, I was confused to put it mildly. Kaelan told me that she probably had her reasons for it and I knew that he was right. Aziza never acts without a reason and if she thinks this is the best course of action, than I am not going to argue about it. Watching him trough the window is awkward, normally I would be sitting there. His face lights up as he hears the door handle move, but the second it opens his face falters and I actually chuckle at the action. When she mentions the name Benton the image in my mind starts flashing again, but with Kaelan’s arms around me it isn’t that bad. The more she says the more images I see and I know that Ivy is finally ready to let me deal with my memories. I bury my face in Kaelan’s chest as I keep listening to Aziza’s words and even before she tells him, I know that Mahyna is the name is was born with. Everything she says to Roger is true, she is right about what they did to my Mother and they were brutal in their actions. I was supposed to be at a friend’s house, but I had gone home to pick up my sketchbook and as I was about to leave again Roger and my Father had walked in. I had been to scared to move, afraid they might find me and hurt me and so I kept myself hidden. Roger had told my Father that he would take care of her body and that he had to clean up the house. I had followed Roger to the canyon and when he dropped her in to it I wanted to scream, but I couldn’t make a sound. Tears stream down my face as she finally tells him the name my Father gave to me and I chuckle softly as his Wolf roars. I tell them what happened from the moment she started talking and Kaelan just holds me in his arms, giving me the comfort and strength I need. “Armas, Aziza is right. Ivy needed to know that the truth had been found and Ivy knew that with Kaelan in my life I would be able to deal with the truth. I can move on now even though I would like to know the why. I know I will never be able to put my Mother to rest, but I will be able to put my past to rest.” I say and Armas’ face softens a little towards Aziza. As I turn to her to thank her for everything she did, her phone starts buzzing and she answers it quickly after she checks the caller-ID. She just listens, humming and nodding her head from time to time and everyone is staring at her, curiously. Aziza’s P.O.V. My phone buzzes as Ynanna looks at me and when I see who it is I walk away from the table, hoping that I will get some good news. I listen to the voice on the other end of the line and I don’t show anyone my emotions. Once I sit down in my seat I look at Armas and tell him to sit down so I can explain the phone call. “That was Gamma Dario, I called Alpha Ewan yesterday after I finally put the puzzle together and asked him to send Dario to do something for me. There is only one place Roger could dispose of Jamyla’s body and Dario is the only one I know that is capable of descending down in to that canyon. He just confirmed what I hoped he would find in that canyon. It took him a few hours to find the answer, but as usual he didn’t disappoint me. Ynanna, your Mother will be coming home.” I look at her as I tell them about Dario and I see a sadness in her eyes as my words sink in. Kaelan puts his forehead against hers as he whispers “Now you can put her to rest.” I shake my head, but the two of them don’t see it and it is Amand that asks me to explain myself. “Ynanna, I said your Mother will be coming home…” I don’t get the chance to finish as the door slams open and a woman rushes in. Ynanna looks at her as her eyes slowly widen and then she whispers “Mom” as she jumps out of Kaelan’s arms and in to Jamyla’s arms. Kaelan smiles at me as his Mate is hugging her Mother and I give him a smile in return, just grateful that my hunch had been correct. “Aziza, you surprise me every time you finish a case. How did you know that she was still alive?” Armas asks. “I didn’t know if she was still alive, but over the past four years I have discovered that Lycans can stand a lot before they finally die. I wanted Ynanna to have closure, whether that would be to bury her Mother or to see her Mother.” I say as I look at Ynanna and Jamyla. “Who is Ynanna?” Jamyla asks and Ynanna answers her. She nods her head and actually smiles at her explanation. “Your Father wanted to call you Mahyna when you were born, but I wanted to call you Ynanna and it looks like I got my way in the end.” She says smiling. Council-member Armas’ P.O.V. Aziza is right, a Lycan can survive a lot if they are given time to heal and that is what happened in this case. By dropping her in the canyon, she didn’t sustain further injuries and her Lycan was able to heal. I wonder how long it took her Lycan to heal and why she didn’t come looking for her Daughter, but those were questions for another day. I look at the scene in front of me as I notice something to my left and a small smile appears on my face. Kaiden and Gunnar ask to be excused and before I can answer them Aziza nods her head, making them rush out the door. Aziza quickly tells me about the women they took with them and I understand why she didn’t wait for me to answer. We discuss the situation with Amanda as Ynanna introduces Jamyla to Kaelan, Dario gets introduced to everyone and Ynanna thanks him for finding her Mother. “It was nothing, I owe the Council a favor and I was glad that I could return the favor. I don’t know what would have happened if Harlyn hadn’t figured out the truth when I was accused. So when Aziza called, I was more then willing to help out and I am happy to see that Aziza was right.” Is his response. We head to the living-room where Kaiden and Gunnar are waiting for us with Anna and Rosa. I was told about them by Atlas and I really hope that they will finally be able to start living the life they want. After an hour or so a woman walks in to the living-room and Aziza introduces her as Amanda. She is glowing and I know exactly what the reason is, like Kaelan and Ynanna the Council agreed to forgoing a hearing for their marking and I can see that they didn’t waste any time. “Where is my Brother?” Rosa asks and Amanda tells her that he had to go down to the prison and would be back soon. Amanda is aware of more then she is telling Rosa and I am glad to see that she knows what she can and can’t talk about. Jamyla tells us about her Mate and the way they met, we can see all sorts of emotions running through her eyes as she speaks. Dario keeps his eyes on her and I link Aziza to make sure that his Alpha knows that he will be gone for a few days more. Only to find out that she already took care of that and I smile as I realize that I have underestimated her, yet again. I see Amanda nudging Rosa’s arm as she turns towards the door and a second later Rosa jumps in to the arms of the man that just walked in to the room. He swirls her around as she squeezes him tight and I am surprised to see a smile on Gunnar face, until I realize that he is Rosa’s Brother. “Okay, Little One. I think your Brother could use some air.” He says teasingly and Rosa just looks over her shoulder as she sticks out her tongue. Chris walks over to the couches as he is still holding on to his baby Sister, when he is standing in front of Gunnar he says “I hope you can handle this little ball of fire. Mom always said that she could get herself in trouble while sleeping.” Rosa gasps at his words, while the rest of us start laughing and Gunnar takes her out of Chris’ embrace. “I think I can manage.” Gunnar says as he sits down with Rosa on his lap.
