The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary
Lakota We have found a rhythm in our daily routine, and we even found the time to start a training program; Colton even trains Josh and Lynn three times a week. Alice has been able to set up an infirmary in a cottage near the Pack-house, and she has been constantly in contact with Silver Lotus' Pack-doctor to get everything we might need. Aunt Lucy made sure she sent as many essentials to us every week, and if there is something specific we needed, I would send her a message, receiving it with the next delivery from Silver Lotus Pack. Our Warriors had sorted out the patrols with Quinn and Colton, and it started to feel more like a Pack with each passing day. The last time Dad talked to Council-member Armas, he found out that Armas had secured all of Crystal Blood Pack's finances, but to make sure it wouldn't look like favoritism he had asked an old friend of Dad to hold on to it. He had been on assignment during their first few calls, but the moment he had returned Armas had informed him. So now we have a very wealthy Pack; we can do whatever we want and not worry much about the financial side. Right now I am in Dad's office updating our map with every building that is finished, and I smile as I look at every marking on the map; it is starting to look like something. A knock on the door pulls me away from the map, and when I turn to the door I see Lance standing in the doorway with a serious expression on his face. "Lance, come on in. What can I do for you?" I ask him as I turn away from the map on the table and I walk over to the couch to sit down. He hands me a small bag I have never seen before, and I look from the small bag to Lance. "I have had this for a while now, but I never knew when to give it to you or how to approach the subject," he says as he looks at the small bag on my lap, before he looks up to look me in the eyes. "I have no idea what is inside; it isn't meant for me, and that is why I never looked at the contents of the bag. Jake asked me to give it to you; he wanted you to get to know him and his family," he continues, and I understand why he had trouble finding a good time to give it to me. Lotus softly whimpers in the back of my head; thinking of Jake still hurts both of us, and I am not sure if it will ever go away. He would have been our second chance at love, but someone took him away from this world, and I know he will always be a part of me and this Pack. I slowly open the small bag as Lance gets up from the couch. "Please, I want you to know what is in here," I whisper before he can take a step, and he sits back down as I reach into the bag. My fingers grace against something hard, and as I wrap my fingers over it I understand that these are journals. After I pull my hand out, I am holding on to four journals, and all of them look well read, even though one looks as if it hasn't been written full. Keir It has been six months since we moved into our territory. The Pack-house and three cottages were finished within two weeks of finding it, and it has been amazing to see the territory transform as we removed more and more of the overgrowth. We have found a total of twenty-two foundations, and most of them have been rebuilt. Every morning after breakfast, I have a meeting with Lakota, Lance, Quinn, Darrius, and Colton. We discuss patrols, progress on buildings, and everything else we need to discuss. Lakota starts acting more and more like an Alpha, and I know it won't be long before she can take over from me, leaving her and her leadership in charge. Mylana gave birth to a female Pup a week ago, and soon we will be welcoming another Pup into the Pack as Quinn is near her due date. Darrius has made a request to the Council to keep him and his Mate in mind if they ever find a Pup in need of a new home, and I know that they will make great parents. Just as we sit down, my phone starts ringing and I frown as I see the caller-ID. "Good morning, Armas," I answer the phone. "Keir, I need your help," he says before I can tell him that he is on speaker. I tell him who is listening in, and it doesn't bother him at all. "Good. Two young Wolves were brought in front of the Council yesterday after their Pack convicted them of theft, but we found out that the Alpha wanted to get rid of them as they were mated to the future Beta and Gamma. He wanted them to take his Daughters as their chosen Mates, so he forced them to reject one another. Both of them are eighteen, and when we gave them the choice they just wanted to find a place where they can live in peace. You popped to mind immediately," he states, and by the look on everyone's faces the young Wolves just found their new home. I ask him if he has a map of the area and I tell him to get to the fork in the road. "Send me a message when you get there; I will pick them up myself. Until we have everything secure and rebuilt, I don't want any more Wolves or Lycans to know where the territory is," I answer him, and he tells me he will be leaving shortly. Moments after I have disconnected the call, Alice walks in and Lakota tells her what to expect. Sela is with her. "I will get two rooms in order; I will place them next to one another. It might make the move a little bit easier," she replies before she walks out of the office, and I hear her walking up the stairs. Our Pack-house isn't large; that was impossible with the size of the foundation, and it took us a while to realize why it wasn't that big. We had been discussing it during one of our morning meetings, and Lakota had suddenly smiled as if she had found the biggest treasure in the world.
