Axel From Conri's reaction, I can tell something isn't adding up, and I just stare at the spot where Conri's Lycan ran into the forest. I finally get out of the SUV when I see that everyone is staring at me, and I look at Umayza and Evander as I try to figure out what I did. "Sorry, I think it was something I told him. I just don't understand why he got so angry; I was just repeating what Boris told me about what those females said that day, and that is when he slammed on the brakes. Umayza, I know it is not my place, but as a friend, I just wanted to help. Evander, I am going to ask you a question, and I hope you will answer it honestly, as I might have figured out why Conri got so pissed," I say, and Evander just nods his head. I take a deep breath because I fear not only Evander will get mad at me."When was the last time you slept with a female?" I ask him as I keep looking at Umayza, and I see the hurt reflected in her eyes, but I have a feeling Evander's answer will change that. "Not that it is any of your business, but that would have been five or six weeks before we met Umayza," he answers. Everyone is staring at me, but I know that my team will understand why I asked the question, and Umayza is the first one to connect the dots. She tries to walk away from Evander, but he is not letting go of her, and he makes her look at him as he asks, "Why are you crying, Babygirl?" I tell him how we all interpreted the note they left, and after a few moments, he tells us the same thing Conri told me in the SUV. "Well, that brings me to the reason why Conri took off. Boris, Tarja, and Umayza overheard a conversation between two females a few days before she turned eighteen, and it confirmed what we believed you tried to tell her in your note," I say. I look at Theron, and he moves behind Evander, understanding that what I have to say will probably piss him off as well. I make sure he understands that what I am about to say are the actual words the females used, and then I quickly blurt it out. Evander does get mad, but with Umayza holding his hand, he doesn't lose control as Conri had done, and he turns to her as he places his other hand against her cheek. "Babygirl, we never looked at another female again in that way after we found you; we would never betray the Mate-bond. Axel is right though; our note was probably not written the way it should have been. Maybe we shouldn't have done it at all, but I promise you we never cheated on you. I don't understand why anyone would have said that; besides the Squad, we never told anyone about you being our Mate," he says. Callan asks Boris to repeat the words the females used, and for a moment, I really believe he has lost his mind, especially when he bursts out in laughter. Evander growls at him, and Captain Armand asks why he thinks that is funny; Callan just shakes his head as he tries to calm himself down."Captain, the words were heard out of context. Evander did use her backdoor the night before; the backdoor of her house," he says, and suddenly Evander facepalms himself, making me wonder what the hell Callan is talking about. Movement from across the street pulls our attention in that direction, and I see a silver-colored Lycan walk out of the forest. Umayza walks over to him to put her arms around his neck, and I hear the Lycan whimper as she pulls back a little. "Don't worry. I am not going anywhere; I just need you to give control back to Conri. I need to talk to him," she says as she runs her hands through his fur. Evander turns her around as he holds out some sweats for Conri to change into, and Evander's actions make Umayza giggle. We step away from the three of them, and I ask Blaze if she is willing to travel with me so they can stay together for the last hour of our trip. Callan explains to us what happened the night those females were talking about, and again I understand that hearing, seeing, or reading something without all the information at your disposal will lead to misunderstandings. Umayza Part of me is angry with Axel for telling Conri and Evander about how I had felt about the note and what I had overheard that day, but a bigger part of me is happy it is finally out in the open. It was all a misunderstanding, and now we can start thinking about the next Full Moon. Conri was right when he said the fur of his Lycan was also silver; it is almost identical to Yade's color, and she has been drooling over Conri's Lycan from the moment we saw him. She can't talk to them until the Mate-bond is in place, but she really wants to know their names. "Conri, Yade would like to know the name of your Lycan?" I ask him after we are back on the road again. "My Lycan's name is Kane, and Evander's Lycan is Mylo," he answers, and I roll my eyes at Yade as she keeps repeating their names in my head."Well, not that it would change anything, but it sounds like Yade likes their names. It is the only thing coming from her mouth," I mumble, and Conri chuckles as he pulls me closer to his side. Evander holds on to my hand, and for the first time in years, I feel at ease. "Babygirl, wake up," I hear near my ear, and I swat whoever is annoying me. "Ouch, Babygirl. Was that necessary?" I hear after that, and I slowly open my eyes to look into Evander's face; my face reddens as I realize I just hit him. "Sorry, I am not in the best of moods when someone wakes me up," I whisper. Axel walks up to the SUV holding a couple of keys in his hands and gives Alexia directions to our cottages as he leans into the window. Council-member Armas booked us a few cottages as he knows this is what my team prefers to be able to keep me safe. As we make our way to the cottages, Boris explains why we stay in cottages instead of in a Hotel, "I think that is actually the best way to protect someone; it gives you more escape routes than a Hotel would," Conri says, and I can tell that Boris feels validated that someone like Conri actually gives him a compliment. Evander has had his head buried in my neck ever since I smacked him in the face, and I actually enjoy having him this close. I can't believe that this morning I asked my team to be my barrier between me and my Mates, and right now I am leaning against Conri with my back while I hold Evander against my chest.
