The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary

Chapter 110 The Rescue

Lakota "Malik, we will help you in any way we can. Don't tell Council-member Armas about your plan; I will discuss it with our leadership, and I will explain to Ivan what you need from him." I say. We all know why he wants to bring Night Shade Pack down, and we will help him with whatever he needs. With the triplets in our lives, time passes fast, and after almost six months, Ivan links me that he got a call from Malik. I call in my leadership, and I also ask Romano and Josy to join us; we need to prepare for what is coming. We all sit down in the seating area of my office, and I tell them that Ivan received a call from Malik. "We all know what that means, and we need to make sure we get all the information we can. Malik is counting on us, and so is the Council, even if they are unaware of it at this time. Josy, can you make sure that whoever Ivan brings home is well taken care of?" I ask her, and she nods her head. We all know that Night Shade Pack is not only known for the gift their Alpha and her daughter have; they are also known for the cruel way they deal with their victims, and Malik has found a way around it. He will supposedly kill his targets, but Ivan will bring them here to stay in hiding. Romano and Peter have taken care of the cottage next to theirs, and it will be able to house at least eight people; Josy will look after them with the help of Romano. We have also started to clear the last part of our hidden territory, because we don't know how many new members Malik will send our way, and we want to make sure we can build enough buildings to accommodate them. Alice and Mylana suggested taking down the cottage Alice used as an infirmary and building an extra building similar to the Warrior building near the corridor to our other territory. Peter jumped at the opportunity to build again, and Rory has helped him out, together with a few other Pack-members.It takes Ivan two days to get back, and the female with him is terrified of males, but for some reason, she allows Ivan and Romano to be around her. Josy is very patient with her, and slowly but steadily, she opens up to Josy, making sure we get everything the Council might need in the future. Four months later, Ivan shows up with a sixteen-year-old male, but we can tell that he isn't a shifter we have in our Pack, and I see a knowing look in Josy's eyes. Two days later, she tells me that he is a Mountain Lion and that he is related to Jake. I show him the journals and tell him why I have them in my possession; he smiles sadly when he hears that his Uncle died. Malik has been contacting Ivan on a regular basis, and we heard from Ivan that Malik volunteers to take care of the victims. He wants to make sure that he saves as many as he can, his way of getting revenge on Night Shade Pack, and every one of his victims that we take in are grateful for his help. Ten years have passed since we took in the first one of Malik's victims, and each of them has found his or her place within our Pack, but none of them leave our hidden territory. They all chose to stay in hiding, not willing to risk exposing themselves to Night Shade Pack, and it is the reason why Malik can still continue with his work for the Council. Like me, Jazzy and Denali decided ten years ago that their family was complete; Josy is an entirely different story. She is in her fourth pregnancy now, and with the way she is talking, I believe she will get pregnant as many times as the Goddess grants her. Her first pregnancy was of two Cubs and one Pup; all of them are males. Her second pregnancy was a female Pup, while the third pregnancy gave them a female Cub and a male Pup, and I thought that would be it, but a month ago, she told us she was expecting again. Romano thinks this will be just one young too, but we will have to wait until the young is born to find out if it is a Pup or a Cub. Josy It has been fourteen years since Malik went on assignment for the Council, and the only contact I have with him is through Ivan. Two days ago, Ivan brought back a young She-wolf, and as always, we do everything we can to help. I just hope Malik will be able to come home soon; I want both my boys to find happiness. Conan and Marc are helping me to get the last few things in order before I am going to turn over the diner and motel to them. No, I am not going to quit working. I am just nearing the end of my pregnancy, and Mano feels better if I take it easy until our young are born; he is even more overprotective during my pregnancies. Marc is one of the people we took in at Malik's request, and I cried when Conan told me that Marc was his Mate. A lot of Malik's so-called victims found their Mate within our Pack; Kanoa found his Mate four years ago. The Council has been bringing us newborns ever since we settled down here, and with a few same-sex couples, there is always a loving family waiting for them. I hear the bell above the door chime, and I take a look at the time to see if it might be Mano; he told me he would come get me if I took too long. At first, he wanted to come along, but I was able to convince him to stay home and finish the last details of the nursery. "Aunt Josy." I hear Ivan yell, and in all these years, there is only one reason for him to sound like that: Malik has reached out to him for help. I slowly walk out of the kitchen to ask him what is going on, but the second he sees me, he says, "Hurry up, Aunt Josy." I look down at my huge belly with a smile on my face.
