The Pack’s Lost Daughter
Third Person's POV Back then, Zenia had left too abruptly. No one had dared reach out, and she had erased the past completely from her life. From Aysel's perspective, it must have seemed as if Zenia had taken the money and vanished, never even enrolling at the inter-pack academy. The thought made Zenia's stomach twist with worry-how disappointed Aysel must have been. When Zenia approached her now, offering an apology along with an envelope similar to the one from years ago, Aysel did not refuse. She knew that accepting the money would make Zenia happier. She did not reveal to Zenia that the original sum had been her own savings, painstakingly collected to escape the suffocating control of the Moonvale Pack. This secret was shared with no one, though Damon and Skylar were perceptive enough not to miss it. After Zenia's disappearance, Aysel's parents had come to the academy a few times, stirring panic. A young wolf vanishing without word-rumors ran rampant. Some whispered of accidents, others of abductions. Yet the three of them-Aysel, Damon, and Skylar-guessed the truth: Zenia had left of her own volition. Damon had been furious. To him, Zenia's silent disappearance wasted Aysel's care and consideration-a betrayal of the loyalty he valued among wolves. And indeed, the Moonvale family had ensured that allied families' offspring would not aid Aysel, hoping to force her back under their control. Aysel survived those early days with part-time work, and discreet help from Skylar, who had smuggled a small sum to her. Slowly, she regained her footing. She never regretted her decision. Just as she had never doubted Zenia was a wolf of integrity, not one to run off with money selfishly. Her purpose at the alumni gathering was not to question Zenia, but to see her with her own eyes, to confirm she was alive and well. Aysel remembered the Mistyhowl Mountain incident-how Zenia had gone to find Damon, rallying help when she had been trapped. Every act of kindness she had received in her life, she treasured. And a hardworking, determined wolf like Zenia deserved her own true life. No matter how difficult life had been for Aysel, the Moonvale Pack had never been as cruel as Zenia's family had been. "Will you continue staying abroad?" Aysel asked softly. Seeing her old friend, vibrant and thriving, lifted a weight from her chest. The two wolves did not linger on the past sentimentally. A simple exchange of "Thank you" and "It's nothing" covered what needed to be said. Zenia shook her head, determination lighting her eyes. "I'm returning to the continent. I want to gather a team and make a proper film. I've mapped out the story and the theme-I want to show the struggles of wolves born in the lower ranks of the packs." Aysel's eyes curved in a small smile. "Wishing you success." Zenia returned the smile. "Your blessings always seem to be right." Just as the two prepared to continue their conversation, Aysel's phone rang. Seeing the name on the screen, she smiled and said to Zenia, "Sorry, I need to take this call." Zenia nodded, understanding. She turned to find Emma to thank her as well, but a familiar voice called out. "Zenia?" She turned in surprise. It was Damon. Then who was the wolf whose presence had just made Aysel's smile so bright as she answered the call? She raised an eyebrow. Damon's eyes, however, held a mixture of shock and delight. "Perfect timing. Can you help me with something?"
