Reborn as the Baby Sister Everyone Spoiled—and the One He Loved
Facing both of them, Terry deliberately softened his usual cold demeanor. "I've been swamped with work lately and haven't had the chance to visit you both. I brought a few small gifts—I hope you'll like them." Ryan quickly placed six elegantly wrapped gift boxes on the coffee table and then stood behind Terry with his usual poise. Rebecca smiled warmly. "Terry, there's really no need for gifts. Just having you here is enough. We're practically family already." Terry nodded calmly. "Very soon, we will be family." Rebecca was momentarily taken aback, glancing at Leon, subtly signaling him to bring up the matter of canceling the engagement. Leon gave her a small nod. Since Terry was here, it was time to address the issue. However, before he could speak, Terry continued, "I also prepared another small gift." Alora's mood instantly lifted, her earlier gloom vanishing in an instant. Her face lit up as she stood excitedly. "Thank you, Ter! You're so thoughtful to even prepare something for me." Moments earlier, she had been sulking. How could Terry bring gifts for her parents but not for her? She'd felt deeply disappointed. But now, she was overjoyed. Terry, however, didn't so much as glance at her, as if he hadn't even heard her words. It was as though Alora didn't exist. "Leon, Rebecca," Terry said, his tone calm but deliberate. "I heard a month ago that you found your biological daughter. "I've been extremely busy and haven't had the chance to come and meet my fiancée."Today, I made time and brought her a small gift. "Is she not home?" When Terry's words fell, everyone in the room understood—when he said 'my fiancée,' he wasn't referring to Alora. He meant Elaine. Alora froze where she stood, her face alternating between pale and green. Her entire body stiffened, and her fists clenched tightly. Elaine? Terry had brought a gift for Elaine?! Not her?! What was he thinking? Elaine had already asked to call off the engagement! And yet, he still brought her a gift?Had he lost his mind? "Alora, sit down," Rebecca said, unable to bear the awkwardness any longer. She quickly pulled her daughter to sit beside her. "Mom," Alora whimpered, leaning against Rebecca, feeling utterly wronged. Rebecca gently patted her back in consolation. It seemed clear now—Terry didn't harbor that kind of feelings for Alora. Over the past two decades, though the two had been engaged, Terry had never once taken the initiative to ask Alora out. Even when Alora invited him, he had always declined. Leon glanced at his daughter, saying nothing. No one understood men better than other men. Given Terry's indifference toward Alora over the years, she obviously had no chance with him. "Elaine went to the hospital early this morning to visit a friend who was in a car accident," Leon explained. "She should be back soon." Terry nodded. "Alright, I'll wait for her to return." Alora's eyes widened in shock. Wait? Terry was going to wait for Elaine? Did he not value his time at all? How could he waste it waiting for that woman? Her mind twisted in fury, dark thoughts consuming her. She began to curse Elaine silently, wishing she wouldn't return. Better yet, she hoped Elaine would end up like her friend—dead in a car accident.Leon let out a deep sigh. "Terry," he said after a moment's hesitation, "there's something I need to tell you."
