Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
It was clear someone had taken the mask when no one was looking. If the thief weren't caught, Aleena would bear the blame. The room erupted with murmurs once more. "Aleena is finished. That mask has incredible value. She might face years in prison," a voice whispered. "Who could have taken it?" This room is constantly packed. Who knows who might have grabbed it? "She has only herself to blame. Why take something without asking for it?" Another voice added, "I heard her boyfriend is drowning in gambling debt. She must have needed the cash to help him out." "What a fool to waste her life on a guy like that."Aleena's sobs grew louder as the gossip swirled around her. Instead of sympathy, the onlookers only mocked her. Breaking the tension, Seraphina approached and asked, "Can I see the footage?" Michael handed over the hallway footage. "Here, take a look." Seraphina examined the footage intently, her focus unwavering. Eventually, Thomas joined her and asked, "Find anything?" "Maybe. I think I know where it could be hidden, but I'm not completely sure," she replied, holding his intense gaze with her calm, clear eyes. The crowd now turned their attention to Seraphina, their suspicion shifting. Ignoring the gazes, she stood up and walked into a nearby prop-filled room. "Do you really think it's here?" Michael questioned with uncertainty. "Not entirely. I'd say fifty-fifty," she answered.Seraphina could've left then—her name was already cleared—but she stayed. She believed the mask, kept in a box crafted from Golden Sandalwood, held significance for Thomas. He was the first to defend her, and she couldn't ignore that. Amid the skeptical glances from the crowd, she stood firm. Without hesitation, she turned to Thomas. His response was immediate and decisive. "Search the room," he commanded. No one challenged him. Michael swiftly instructed the team to start searching the room. Time went by with no sign of the mask, and those waiting outside became increasingly restless. "What's the holdup? Can't they find it already?" "If they don't, we'll be dismantling equipment all night. This is ridiculous!" The grumbling grew louder, and even Michael started to look uneasy. He asked Seraphina, "Are you sure you're not mistaken?" Thomas cut him off with a sharp glare, instantly silencing him. Turning back to the room, Michael ordered, "Keep looking!" Finally, someone's voice rang out. "Found it!" A staff held up the mask, which was carefully wrapped in gauze and tucked inside a black plastic bag. After the discovery announcement, a person in the crowd turned away, momentarily showing sadness in their expression. Michael asked eagerly, "How did you know it was here?" Seraphina didn't respond; her gaze locked onto a slim, dark-skinned young man in the crowd. His body stiffened as their gazes met. After a brief pause, he promptly looked away to avoid her stare. She had noticed his nervous behavior earlier when Michael questioned everyone, and now it was even more apparent. Thomas followed her line of sight, his expression turning icy as he ordered, "Grab him." The young man's panic was immediate. He shoved his way through the crowd to escape, but the security team was faster. They caught up with him in seconds, tackling and pinning him down with practiced ease. "Give them to the police," Thomas stated coldly.
