Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
"I know," Seraphina replied. She was well aware of Linara's intentions. It was a classic "rise from the ashes" tactic. Having lost her reputation, Linara had chosen to play humble, garnering sympathy to overshadow past events while subtly tarnishing Seraphina's image in the process. A win-win for her. Seeing that Seraphina had it under control, Evelyn didn't press further. After all, she had never met anyone more astute than Seraphina. "Tomorrow's Thomas Foster's concert. Don't be late!" Evelyn reminded her enthusiastically. "I won't." Though Seraphina wasn't into celebrity culture, she was mildly curious about Thomas Foster, the star everyone seemed to adore. Just a tiny bit curious—really, just a sliver."I'll swing by to pick you up tomorrow," Evelyn offered enthusiastically. "No need. It's not on your way. Let's just meet at the concert entrance." As the two exited the school gates, a syrupy voice called out from ahead. "Seraphina!" Heads turned toward Seraphina as Linara jogged over, her hand reaching for Seraphina's backpack. Seraphina, however, walked right past her without stopping, leaving Linara's hand grasping at empty air. Not far away, Skyler, Dora, and Caleb witnessed the exchange. "Looks like Linara's not having an easy time at the Whitewood Residence," Caleb remarked with a sigh. "That sister of hers is ruthless. Linara's going to have a hard time from now on." Dora noticed the trace of pity in Skyler's eyes and frowned. She had worked hard to create distance between Skyler and Linara; she couldn't let that effort go to waste. "Skyler, you're coming to Thomas Foster's concert tomorrow, right?" she asked, trying to shift his focus. She desperately wanted everyone to know she was Thomas' accompanist, but rules forbade her from revealing it. Still, she longed for Skyler to see her shining on stage. Skyler didn't respond, but Zack spoke up for him. "Of course he is. Foster's his idol—he wouldn't miss a single concert." Dora shot Zack a glare. … Night fell over Pyrin, and the city lit up like a galaxy of stars. Over at the Pyrin Stadium in the southern district, traffic was backed up for miles as car after car tried to enter the venue. The line of vehicles stretched over ten miles, with traffic officers and police working hard to maintain order and prevent accidents. From the plaza outside the stadium to the entrance, flowers, gift baskets, and promotional posters lined the path. Fans and volunteers worked tirelessly to guide attendees and keep things running smoothly. For Seraphina, it was her first concert experience—both in her previous life and this one. She hadn't realized that attending a concert meant leaving at least five hours in advance. Now, she was stuck in traffic, miles away from the stadium. The cars ahead didn't budge, leaving her stranded. "Sera, are you there yet?" Evelyn's anxious voice came through the phone as she waited anxiously at the entrance. "Uh… I'm stuck in traffic," Seraphina admitted sheepishly. "Traffic? Where are you stuck?" Evelyn's voice rose in alarm. "About four miles from the stadium." "What?! The concert's about to start!" Evelyn exclaimed in frustration. "If I'd known you were this unreliable, I would've picked you up myself!" "Don't worry. I'll get there before it starts," Seraphina reassured her. Pulling cash from her bag, she handed it to the cab driver, then hopped out of the car, preparing to run the rest of the way. Meanwhile, backstage at the concert, chaos reigned. Staff bustled about, busy with last-minute preparations. Dora was ushered into the makeup room, where stylists began transforming her appearance for the performance. Just then, a staff member entered, scanning the room. "Who's Dora Barnes?" Dora stood up. "That's me." "Come with me. Mr. Foster wants to see you," the staff member said impassively.
