Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone

Chapter 81 Seraphina's Rebuke

"Aidan, you must get Seraphina a ticket," Linara insisted gently. "That way, we can all go to the concert together." Her thoughtfulness and consideration for Seraphina filled Aidan with both relief and a pang of sadness. "Don't bother," Seraphina said, setting down her cutleries. "Seraphina, are you upset?" Linara's voice wavered, hurt by the rejection. Then, biting her lip as if making a painful decision, she held out her ticket. "Here, you can have mine." Seraphina scoffed inwardly at Linara's over-the-top antics, a reaction Aidan caught immediately. His heart ached for his sweet, considerate sister, trying so hard to please someone who didn't even appreciate her. Thinking about all the grievances Linara must have endured in his absence, Aidan's chest tightened with pain. If their parents wouldn't protect her, then he would. From this day forward, he vowed to safeguard his sister. "Linara, if she doesn't appreciate it, don't give it to her," Aidan said, his tone firm. He had wanted to get along with Seraphina, but her behavior made it impossible. Two sisters—one was so kind and understanding it broke his heart, and the other was utterly insufferable. If anyone had to choose, the answer was obvious. As far as he was concerned, he couldn't treat Seraphina as a true sister. "Seraphina," Oberon said sternly, his voice laced with disapproval. Chloe sighed and added, "Seraphina, I know you're upset, but this has nothing to do with Linara. You're sisters; you need to love each other." Seraphina scanned the table, seeing the disapproval on everyone's faces. Then, she caught the glint of smug satisfaction in Linara's downcast eyes, barely hidden. It was both amusing and irritating. She really hasn't learned her lesson."I already have VIP tickets," Seraphina announced, rising from her seat. "You can keep that one." She took two steps toward the door before pausing and turning back. Her gaze rested on Aidan, filled with a trace of pity. "As the heir of the Whitewood Family, you couldn't even secure a VIP ticket. That's a reflection on your network and relationships—you should reflect on that. Pathetic, really, and yet here you are, acting so smug." Her words landed like a slap, leaving Aidan humiliated and furious. But Seraphina wasn't finished. Watching his discomfort, she added, "As an heir apparent, you should stop wasting your time on trivial family drama and sentimental nonsense. Focus on expanding your connections and exploring the world. That's what you should be doing." Oberon, who moments earlier had been frustrated with Seraphina, now looked at Aidan with disappointment. Both were his children, yet Seraphina had just returned and already accomplished something Aidan had failed to do. Her capability was evident; she was promising, a true asset to the family. As his appreciation for Seraphina grew, Oberon's gaze drifted to Linara, whose face was red with embarrassment and anger, and then to Aidan, who was barely holding back his fury. His brows furrowed. Perhaps it's best not to let Aidan and Linara spend too much time together. Their petty attitudes might influence Aidan in the wrong direction. Aidan, humiliated by Seraphina's scolding, fumed silently, unaware that Oberon's disappointment in him had deepened. He also had no idea that his position as the Whitewood Family heir would soon be in jeopardy. And he certainly wouldn't anticipate that Whitewood Group, the foundation of their family's power, would one day teeter on the brink of collapse. The best way to destroy someone wasn't to strike them down directly but to dismantle everything they cared about. Seraphina was still weak and couldn't achieve this now, but as the saying went, "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link." Bit by bit, she would corrode and devour the Whitewood Family's foundation. Their downfall was inevitable.
