Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
Evelyn's eyes lit up with excitement. Ooh, I better grab my popcorn! After the morning classes, all students and teachers gathered on the field for the morning exercises. That day also happened to be the monthly speech day, and the speaker was Theron Silverbrook, the student council's vice president. Standing on stage, Theron looked full of confidence, and Seraphina's bright eyes flashed with a bloodthirsty glint. "Do you like Theron?" A sudden voice appeared behind her. Evelyn had somehow made her way over to her class and was now standing right behind Seraphina. "Oh, wait. I almost forgot—you're the true Whitewood heiress, right? The one who's actually engaged to him. So, that preening peacock on stage is your fiance," Evelyn said with an amused smirk."Tsk, tsk, such a Beauty and the Beast case," Evelyn remarked with an exaggerated sigh of regret. Before Seraphina could respond, Juliette muttered, "Evelyn, calling Seraphina a beast right to her face—that's a bit rude, isn't it?" Evelyn's expression soured, and she looked at Juliette like she was an idiot. Seraphina stifled a laugh. Trying to stir up trouble? How amateur. "Are you blind or just plain stupid? If your eyes are bad, go get them checked," Evelyn shot back bluntly. Onstage, Theron's arrogant gaze swept over the crowd, relishing the adoration in the eyes of the female students. Their infatuation filled him with both pride and disgust. When his gaze fell on the piggish, infatuated look from a girl in Sophomore G, his stomach churned, and he nearly gagged. Admiration from beautiful girls was a pleasure, but when unattractive girls looked at him that way, it was revolting. Talia Finch clutched her friend's arm excitedly. "Theron just looked at me! He's so handsome, so perfect." As if he'd ever notice you, her friend thought, rolling her eyes inwardly. She knew Theron called Talia a "pig" behind her back, though Talia remained blissfully ignorant. As Theron wrapped up his speech, thunderous applause erupted from his admirers, who clapped with all their might. He bowed gracefully with a hand on his chest, then strode off the stage, exuding charm. "Oh my gosh, I just adore Theron!" "Theron is the perfect prince. How is he so flawless?" While the girls were still swooning, Kelly silently stepped onto the stage, gripping the microphone. Her gaze scanned the crowd before settling on Seraphina. The crowd murmured in surprise at her unexpected appearance. "What's Kelly doing up there?" "Is she giving a speech too?""Oh, great! Like I want to sit through another speech. This is torture." The students muttered restlessly. The monthly speeches were already tedious enough; listening to a second one felt unbearable. "I'm standing here today because I have something to say to Seraphina," Kelly announced. The students, who'd been slumping with boredom, immediately perked up. This was about to get interesting. "Seraphina," Kelly sneered, "you have the nerve to do such things but can't even own up to them. If you're going to behave like that, don't be afraid when people talk. You're filthy inside and out—who knows if you're carrying some disease. And yet you pretend to be so high and mighty. You think you deserve an apology? Keep dreaming! I'd never apologize to a filthy, despicable person like you."
