Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
There was a time when Yvonne had given her hope, only to snatch it away and cast her into the depths of despair. That feeling, sharp and unforgettable, remained vivid in her memory. It was a sensation that would never fade. And now, she thought, it was only fair for Yvonne to experience the very torment she once endured. "Get up," Seraphina said, her tone light. Yvonne rose to stand before her. She kept her posture meek, her voice soft as she asked, "Seraphina, does this mean you've forgiven me?" "Forgive you?" Seraphina echoed. "Not quite." The memory of being pushed into the abyss by someone she once trusted was something she would never forgive. Not in this lifetime.Yvonne said immediately, "Then I'll kneel again. I'll kneel until you forgive me." Seraphina raised a dismissive hand, stopping her. "There's no need for theatrics," she said coolly. "I can give you another chance. But whether you succeed or not depends entirely on you. If you have the ability, perhaps you can realize your dreams. The Lewis family might even climb to the top of society. But if you lack that ability, then there's nothing I can do to help. This is your one and only opportunity." Yvonne's pulse quickened. "What is it?" she asked eagerly. Seraphina said, "Next week, Lowell Group will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. The event will be attended by business elites and high society figures from across Pyrin. I'll take you there, but once inside, everything will depend on you. Whether you can find someone willing to support you or not will be determined by your own efforts." Shock and disbelief flickered across Yvonne's face. Was she really willing to help her? It seemed almost too good to be true."Is this… really happening?" she asked, her voice trembling with excitement. She had always wanted to attend an event like this. "Of course," Seraphina replied. Yvonne took advantage of the situation and said, "But I don't have an evening gown or any jewelry." Seraphina's expression didn't change. "If I've agreed to take you, naturally, I'll take care of those things. You simply need to show up looking your best. But let me make one thing clear—this will be the last time I help you. And it's not for your sake. I'm only doing this because of your father." "I understand," Yvonne said quickly, her earlier gloom giving way to a flicker of hope. "I won't waste this chance. I'll make sure I don't disappoint you." "I hope so," Seraphina murmured, her gaze briefly lingering on Yvonne. A flicker of amusement passed through her eyes. She watched silently as Yvonne's mind began to wander, already lost in fantasies of the life she'd long dreamed of.But Seraphina didn't disturb her musings. There was no need. Because soon enough, Yvonne's daydreams would be shattered by the arrival of her worst nightmare. As Seraphina left the park, Dora hurried over to meet her. Dora's gaze darted past her, scanning for any sign of trouble. Seeing that she was alone, and unharmed, Dora let out a relieved breath. "I was worried," Dora admitted, her voice tinged with concern. "I thought Yvonne might try something desperate." "I told you, she doesn't have the guts for that," Seraphina replied with a faint smile. "You overthink things, as usual." "Let's just go," Dora said. It was only after the three of them walked off that Yvonne emerged from the shadows. I won't let this chance slip away. No matter what it takes, I'll secure a backer. I'll rise above all of them, Yvonne vowed silently. Her heart burned with determination. She refused to stay in that miserable place, where she was constantly belittled and pushed around. If Seraphina could claim the life she wanted, why couldn't she? Elsewhere, in the sleek interior of a Maybach, Dora leaned toward Seraphina mysteriously. "I've got some news you might like. At Lowell Group's banquet next week, there's going to be a special guest. A mysterious one, at that. Word has it, it's George Foster—the genius doctor from the medical world." "George?" Evelyn, who had been quiet until now, suddenly widened her eyes in astonishment. "Are you serious? Lowell Group actually managed to get him to attend?" Dora nodded. "That's what I heard from Zack. I'm not sure about the details, but you wouldn't believe the frenzy this has caused. The minute the news got out, every business mogul and high-profile figure started scrambling for invitations. Lowell Group's 50th-anniversary celebration is officially the event of the year." Seraphina's voice, calm yet curious, cut through the chatter. "George Foster? Is he really that famous?" Her question earned her twin glares of disbelief from both Dora and Evelyn.
