Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone

Chapter 163 Searching for Evidence

Evelyn opened her laptop, her fingers dancing effortlessly over the keys. In an instant, a document appeared on the screen. "The first person to post the twisted information was him. His name is Liam Reed, and he works in the publicity department at Spectral Media. So far, there's been nothing unusual about him." With a few more quick taps, the screen shifted. "The one who shamelessly doxxed you online is Zachary Holden, a third-year computer science student at Pyrin University. He's got some skills with computers, but against me, he wouldn't last a minute. And trust me, you don't want to know—his computer is filled with some disgusting videos. It turned my stomach." Seraphina watched, her gaze fixed on Evelyn as she spoke with vibrant energy, detailing how she had cracked Zachary's firewall and planted a virus in his system. Confident, bold...Even with the heavy, smoky makeup, Evelyn's brilliance was undeniable. "Can you pull up the surveillance footage from the school gate and the street cameras?" Seraphina asked, her voice calm but firm. Evelyn flashed an exaggerated "OK" sign and immediately began typing again. Lines of code filled the screen, fast and furious. Seraphina wasn't well-versed in hacking, but it was clear Evelyn knew exactly what she was doing. Ten minutes later, Evelyn's fingers came to a stop, gently pressing the spacebar. The surveillance footage from the previous day appeared on the screen, but it was blurry and indistinct. "There are too many people. It's too hard to see anything clearly," Evelyn muttered, frowning as she studied the footage. "Try the street camera footage," Seraphina suggested. Evelyn popped a lollipop into her mouth, tapping the keys with new urgency. The screen shifted, revealing a different angle, but it was still unclear—too many people crowded around the center, blocking the view. "What now?" Evelyn asked, her voice tinged with frustration. "If I'd known someone would twist the truth for attention like this, I would've recorded a video myself." Seraphina placed a hand gently on her shoulder. "We can't predict everything." "Let's check the campus forum. Maybe someone filmed it. If we find a video, it'll clear everything up." "That's worth a shot," Seraphina said, though she didn't hold out much hope. Finding a specific video in that sea of content felt like searching for a needle in a haystack. Only when one had no other choice did it feel like that desperate search for an impossible needle. Seraphina's eyes drifted back to Liam's file, her gaze lingering on the long string of addresses listed there. As she'd expected, no one had filmed the incident.Evelyn's face fell, a hint of disappointment crossing her features. In the afternoon, Oberon hurried back, his steps quick and determined as he headed upstairs to find Seraphina. His expression was stormy, as though he were ready to unleash his anger. But the moment he saw Evelyn in the room, his fiery temper seemed to falter, and he swallowed his frustration. "Evelyn, I need to speak with Seraphina," he said, his voice clipped. Evelyn shot a worried glance at Seraphina. Just moments ago, Oberon's face had been filled with fury, and she couldn't shake the feeling of concern for Seraphina's safety. Seraphina offered a reassuring smile, her voice calm. "I'm fine. You should go back." "I'll wait downstairs," Evelyn insisted, her concern evident. She refused to leave. If she went downstairs, her uncle would have no reason to hold back. And if his anger got the better of him, what would happen to Seraphina? No matter what, she would stay, hoping to be a shield, a reason for Oberon to restrain his fury. Once Evelyn left the room, Oberon's composure cracked, and his anger surged forward. "You're going to apologize to the Lewis family right now," he demanded. Seraphina raised an eyebrow, her interest piqued. "What did you do?" Oberon blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting her to catch on so quickly. "I'm not leaving until you tell me," Seraphina said, settling back in her chair with an air of casual elegance. Her posture was lazy yet composed, as if she were completely at ease despite the tension in the room.
