Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
Seraphina stared at the message, mulling it over for a moment. She couldn't help but sense a faint undertone of grievance. Grievance? Her mind instantly flashed back to the concert that day—to the man exuding charisma and dominance. Just imagining that cold, proud face wearing a wronged expression sent a shiver down her spine. She shook the image out of her head. She must be overthinking it. She then replied, "A friend." That's what we are—friends. Although they'd only met and worked together once, every conversation with Thomas felt easy and natural. She enjoyed talking to him, but he was always so busy. She never dared to reach out to him on her own or disturb his life. Thomas replied, "Since we're friends, how could I stand by and do nothing while my friend is wronged? There's no need to be polite with me. I can't stand seeing any of my friends suffer unfairly. It's not just you—I'd do the same for any of them." Satisfied, Thomas admired his carefully crafted message. With this, Seraphina wouldn't feel any pressure or burden. In the restaurant, Thomas' assistant placed a glass of juice by his side. Out of the corner of his eye, the assistant caught a glimpse of the screen, just in time to see the message. His worldview shattered instantly. What the hell? Thomas, you're shameless. How can you use such sweet words to deceive a girl? The assistant clearly remembered a time when Thomas' childhood friend got into a fight. He had simply stood on the sidelines, watching until the other guy was thoroughly beaten before stepping in to take down the entire group. On the other hand, Seraphina was genuinely moved by Thomas' message. She never expected someone as outwardly aloof as Thomas to have such a warm and caring heart. When Seraphina didn't reply, Thomas couldn't help but send another message. "My PR team is quite capable. You can borrow them if you need them." Although she appreciated his kindness, Seraphina preferred solving problems herself. Both the debts from her past life and this one carried more meaning when she resolved them personally. "I don't need your PR team, but I could use your top lawyer." "No problem." After replying, Thomas wasted no time and immediately called the top lawyer from his brother's firm. When Seraphina emerged from washing up, a new message awaited her. "The lawyer is Lionel Lopez. His phone number is 134-123-4567. I've already spoken with him." Seraphina responded with a simple "thank you," but there was no further reply from Thomas. She didn't mind. She knew he must be busy. Curious, she searched for information online. What she found stunned her. Lionel was a legendary figure in the legal world, undefeated since starting his career. Every case he handled, no matter how challenging, ended in victory. A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. Jasmine entered, looking worried. "Miss Seraphina, Mr. Whitewood and Mrs. Whitewood are waiting for you in the dining room.""Okay." Jasmine added cautiously, "Mr. Whitewood seems to be in a bad mood." "Thank you, Ms. Cooke." Before Seraphina even entered the dining room, she could feel the oppressive atmosphere. The maids inside immediately moved to pull out a chair for her, their every action marked by care and trepidation. Chloe spoke first. "Seraphina, are you aware of the situation online?" "Yes." Seraphina picked up her bowl and began eating leisurely. Chloe and the maids around her were stunned by how calmly she was eating. With a loud bang, Oberon slammed his fork on the table and glared at Seraphina sternly. "How can you still eat? Do you have any idea what kind of trouble you've caused out there?" Seraphina lifted her gaze, her expression calm to the point of indifference. She met Oberon's fury head-on, completely unshaken.
