Chapter 55 The Joy Of Being Able To Re-visit Your Childhood

Even Benny was completely gobsmacked on seeing this; he did not know what to say, he was speechless as he opened his mouth wide while staring around foolishly. The street was truly a shocking sight. Despite this much increase in technology utilization, the road of the street was so backward that it had portholes. It was apparent, that the appearance of this kind of sparkling car here clearly broke the normal equilibrium. Clark was sure that 100% of the people they passed stared at the car with greed, envy, or jealousy. “Man…, I think we should park the car in a better place before coming back on foot”. He gulped, as he turned to give this suggestion to Leo. His original enthusiasm for coming here was already gone; he felt like someone that cold water was just poured on. Benny seconded this suggestion without hesitation and even added that they should just go and not come back. Unlike Clark, he felt deceived, he felt like a wife that was cheated on. Leo didn’t answer immediately, he thought silently to himself for 5 seconds before he agreed to return the car to somewhere better. He also felt resigned. After so long of him leaving here, there was no sign of growth, no development was done here. He agreed with his friends to return the car, but he directly ruled out any thoughts of going and not coming back. He did a sharp U-turn with the car, before quickly driving back. As soon as they drove back, somewhere else in the street, a figure completely garbed in black attire left, weaving expertly in between the tight houses before reaching an uncompleted building deep inside the street. “Commander, can I come in?” The strange figure in black asked in a respectful tone, as he faintly bowed. “Come in”. A deep voice answered from the depths of the building. “What happened,” the owner of the deep voice continued, as the strange person on black walked in. If Clark saw this man, he would have been alarmed and shocked; it was the commander of the terrorist base that he attacked. “Commander, you were right, I saw Clark’s car enter the street today”. “Did you confirm that it was him?” “I couldn’t confirm as he quickly drove back afterward, but I’m pretty sure that it was him”. “Ok, call and inform the others to look out for him. I’m sure he is with his friend and will likely come back on foot if it was him”. The Commander said in a deep er tone, as he slowly let out a breath of cold air. After Clark escaped from the terrorist base, they ran again as the local police force came after them, they had no choice. Fortunately for them, the commander was decisive this time as he led them to flee that night without rest. The same trick could not take him unawares twice; he was not someone that does not learn from mistakes. Luckily, they escaped, but the terrorist base was now just a shadow fragment of its former self in terms of strength and prestige. After they settled down in a new location, the commander proactively researched Clark. After a lot of intensive research, he finally found his real identity. After getting this, he predicted after days of thoughts and calculations that Clark will probably use his week of leave to visit his hometown. The problem was that they couldn’t barge into Vatican City as it was an advanced city, so they gambled on him coming to his friend’s town. It seems that their gamble paid off, as they probably already found him. All these undercurrents were unknown to Clark and his friends, as they strolled back leisurely while discussing. They made sure to change their clothes to match the status of the people in the street a little, before going back. “Seriously, battle arts are too hard to learn,” Leo complained in a grumpy tone. “This common battle art that I bought, I can’t even perform it a little after 2 days of practicing it”. “It’s a little frustrating,” Clark added with a sigh. “During my simulations, I’m trying but I can’t perform it fully yet”. Benny also added his own complaint to spice up the mood as they followed Leo, only God knew where he was taking them. As the 3 boys walked, a pair of eyes watched them keenly with extreme caution from a corner. After confirming what he wanted, the owner of the eyes directly left. … In an uncompleted building, the terrorist commander stood with his back facing the 3 high-grade soldiers. They stood silently with solemn and stern expressions on their faces, like members of a secret cult. After their misfortune, the terrorist headquarters gave them a little aid by sending them a new high-grade soldier who already learned a battle art. The commander finally turned as he coldly gave a new order. “Observe them for 2 more days, while reporting your findings to me daily. We’ll attack him on the 3rd day. The 3rd person with them, try to find out if he is a high-grade soldier also, no matter the cost”. “Yes sir”, the 3 executioners all acknowledged the order with a salute, before leaving simultaneously. After the soldiers left, the commander turned back to face the wall before sitting down. “Clark, your greatest mistake was killing 2 of my high-grade soldiers. You’ll surely pay for it. I promised that, and I'm no here to fulfill my promise”. He muttered hatefully while suppressing his raging emotions. … Leo’s parents did not have a house of their own; they were provided shelter in the company where they both originally worked as cleaners. Unlike a lot of other kids, his childhood was not too smooth going. He slept there with his parents, all his childhood before he became homeless after their death. He brought Clark and Benny there to see the company, but they just passed as he basically didn’t have any memories there. He finally started smiling, as he led them to where he inherited most, if not all his childhood memories. The Milan stadium was one of the only resources that this street had. Even the police were reluctant to patrol here, as this street was one of the shadiest places in the town, which led to a lot of criminals settling here. He spent most of his childhood days here in this stadium, where he played football every evening with his friends and where he fought others alongside his friends. The military also recruited him from this same stadium. He smiled involuntarily at seeing the familiar stadium. The stadium was currently scanty with few children playing, as time was still around the late afternoon. Clark and Benny followed his suggestion to buy snacks to eat and spend their time before 400 pm. 4 o’clock was the main action time, where the stadium is fully packed, and where the fun starts. It was not long before 400 pm passed. His word came true, the stadium gradually began filling up as spectators from the surrounding and people came from various corners. He finally invited them to play with a nostalgic smile on his face. Clark readily agreed, but Benny stayed behind as he was a complete newbie to football. His old friends were clearly surprised to see him, from the expression on their faces. But they quickly ignored it, as they excitedly invited him to join them. The happiness on their faces was not that of seeing an old friend, it was that of seeing their ace player after so many years. The football game was a delight to both Clark and Leo, they completely enjoyed themselves. Clark scored one goal, but Leo scored a whopping 3 goals, a hat trick, which led to his teammates chanting his nickname like the good old days. Leo felt like he went back in time as all his teammates chanted his name. He now felt really happy for agreeing to come on a tour with Clark on their one week of leave; it was definitely his best decision in years. Somewhere else in the stadium, in the spectator stands, Benny laughed as he cheered his new friends on. He was completely ignorant, as a strange guy in black clothes weaved closer to where he sat.
