The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
Thora's POV: "Unbelievable!" Before Laurel could say a word, Norman's eyes turned blood-red with rage. "Is this how you treat your elders? You think having the Blackwoods behind you makes you untouchable? How dare you bring up your dead mother! You're so young; how can you be this cruel? When you get the inheritance, are you planning to get rid of me too?!" With that, he wrapped his fork and knife in his wolf power and hurled them straight at me. "Thora!" Felix yelled, terrified. I just smiled, not bothered at all. Then my eyes sharpened. The fork and knife that shot toward me at full speed suddenly lost all force. I lifted a hand and caught them with ease. Everyone stared at me, stunned. In Norman's stunned gaze, I let my fingers loosen. The fork and knife clattered onto the table. "Sorry about this," I said calmly, "but since things between us are already cut off, I won't let you hurt me again. If you insist on trying, then I won't hold back either." I looked right at him, speaking each word slowly and clearly. "Bastard! From today on, I don't have a daughter like you! Get out of this family!" Norman roared, pointing at me. Felix tried to speak up, but I stopped him and rose to my feet unhurriedly. "I'll leave. But the inheritance right stays with me. Don't even think about taking it away, unless you're actually capable of it." My voice stayed cold as I glanced at the three of them one by one. My gaze finally settled on Laurel. "And about my mother's death ... whether it was an accident or someone's trick, some people know better than I do. If I ever drag the culprit out into the light, then—" I leaned in, my tone soft and deadly. "You'll learn that even death can be a mercy." Laurel shuddered. Her chest rose and fell fast, like she was struggling not to panic. Seeing her expression, I smiled lightly. Then I even gave a polite smile to the ones still glaring at me. "Enjoy your meal." With that, I headed upstairs. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught the flash of murderous intent in Norman's gaze. I didn't stop walking. Inside, I couldn't help but laugh coldly. Haha, so he's willing to kill me for the inheritance? With that tiny heart and narrow mind, it was already a miracle he made it to a colonel in the army. Back in my room, I narrowed my eyes, danger simmering beneath the surface. Everyone in this family, except Felix, pretty much wants me gone. Norman is just one more name on that list. We already fell out a while ago; one more clash doesn't matter. If I didn't push back now and then, they'd think I was easy to bully. They'd use the same tricks over and over to make trouble for me. Still, this clash wasn't completely useless. When I mentioned my late mom, Laurel and Norman's reactions were interesting. Laurel looked guilty and scared, like she was hiding something. Norman covered it with anger, but the panic in his eyes was real. I sat down at my computer and opened the files Luke sent me. I looked through them again, trying to find something—anything—that connected the two of them. Nothing. I stopped reading and called Harvey. "Hey, Thora." His voice was full of surprise, like he never expected me to call. "Are you familiar with Starlance City?" I asked.Harvey said, "Of course I am! Just ask. What do you want to know?" "I need you to find an empty house for me. It has to be outside any pack territory. Clean. Quiet. Private." "A house? Are you moving out?" "Just find it. If you can't, I'll get someone else." I didn't want to waste time explaining. Harvey promised, "Okay, okay, I'll start asking around right away." I made a small grunt and hung up. Staying in this house was getting more and more inconvenient. I'm tired of wasting time dealing with these people. Now that I'm building my own core team, I need a base in Starlance City that belongs only to me. I glanced at the silver bracelet wrapped around my wrist and brushed off the thin layer of dust on it. Right then, a face flashed across my mind—handsome, cocky, with that annoying grin of his. I couldn't stop the small smile that tugged at my lips. Who knows what that troublemaker is doing now ...
