The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
Around the casino, people at several tables turned their heads. At the biggest table sat a man in his late 30s. He had a square face, average build, and wore casual clothes. A few bodyguards stood behind him, with several suitcases lined up at his feet. Anyone could tell those cases were full of cash. He tossed money onto the table like it meant nothing, clearly not caring whether he won or lost. When he heard the noise, he lit a cigar and slowly blew out smoke. His eyes settled on the teen in the white suit, a strange shine flashing in his eyes as ugly thoughts crept into his mind. As Thora passed one table, she caught sight of a familiar face out of the corner of her eye—blond hair, delicate fair features, and a gold suit that looked elegant rather than gaudy. It was Roxen. He spotted her as well and gave her a small wave. Thora's lips moved slightly before she looked away. Roxen had found his way here as well. She went straight to the largest table and sat down, snapping her fingers. Tristan stepped forward at once and opened the case he was holding. With a loud crash, piles of cash spilled onto the table, clearly announcing her entry into the game. Thora smiled faintly, tapping her fingers against the tabletop as her gaze swept over everyone seated there. Her gaze paused for a moment on the middle-aged man to her left. She glanced at the suitcases beside him, then calmly looked away. Just then, another loud clatter echoed through the hall as more cash hit the table, and the thick smell of money filled the air. "Looks like a fun table. I couldn't miss this," Roxen said as he sat down smoothly, shining in his gold suit. He nodded politely at Thora, acting like they were strangers. His appearance stirred quiet guesses. Many assumed he was royalty from some far-off empire. After all, no regular person ever showed up at Sky Casino. They were sure of it. The middle-aged man's eyes moved between Thora and Roxen, an unreadable gleam flickering in his eyes. The dealer smiled politely and began shuffling. In just moments, this table became the focus of the entire casino. Watching from above, Dorian gestured lightly. One of his men immediately handed him a phone. Dorian glanced at the photo on the screen, then passed the phone back. Darius caught the movement and understood immediately, though his eyes never left Thora. At the table, Thora won some rounds, lost some, but her face stayed calm the whole time. "Does anyone want to raise?" the dealer asked with a smile. Everyone now held two face-down cards. The man on Thora's left sneered and shoved all his chips forward. Roxen smiled slightly and leaned in, pushing his chips out as well. "I'm in." Thora followed without hesitation. "Call." With three players betting big so fast, the others quickly folded or backed out. It was only the blind round—no need to gamble like lunatics. The man glanced at Thora's stack and laughed. "I'll raise again." He added more chips, pushing the pot to around 20 million. The dealer nodded and looked around the table. Roxen raised a brow and casually pushed more chips forward. "Call." When it came to Thora, the crowd held its breath. Based on her past behavior, she'd surely go all in. Sure enough, she raised her hand to move her chips. "Kid, are you sure you're not bluffing?" the man suddenly interrupted, eyeing her cash case. "Do you even bring enough money?" He'd already sized it up. She didn't have enough cash. That was why he'd deliberately raised the bet. Thora frowned slightly and looked at Tristan. He leaned in and whispered, "Boss, I don't think we've got enough." They hadn't brought much to begin with. Tristan had thought she'd win quickly, but she'd lost more than expected, and now he couldn't tell what she was planning. His voice was low, but their expressions said everything.Roxen had never seen Thora trapped like that. Amused, he leaned back to enjoy the show, waiting for her to ask him for cash. The man's eyes grew bolder as he stared at Thora. He grinned, gold teeth flashing. "No money? That's fine. Bet yourself instead. If you lose, you're mine. What do you say?" The crowd exploded with noise. Life-stakes weren't uncommon in gambling, but the filth in his eyes was obvious. Most people were used to ugly scenes, but seeing him talk like that to such a good-looking teen still made many uncomfortable. A few troublemakers, though, started cheering it on. Thora shot him a cold look. His smile froze, and he shivered without knowing why. Roxen stayed relaxed, but the glance he gave the man was already a death sentence. Thora truly didn't have enough cash. Her options were simple—bet herself, or fold and lose everything she'd already put in. She tapped the table lightly. She looked calm, but each tap made the crowd tense for no clear reason. Even now, she didn't waver. At last, Thora looked toward Roxen. She hated dragging things out. She was about to borrow money when a smooth male voice suddenly sounded from behind the crowd. "Who said he's broke?"
