The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
Over the past few days, Luke had been unusually well-behaved, fully focused on figuring out how to break into the academy's system. After being punished so many times, he hardly slept through class anymore. He'd even started taking an interest in what the teachers taught, especially computer science, absorbing knowledge like a sponge. Still, hacking fascinated him the most. For example, his boss had told him to find a way to check a senior teacher's file. Faculty records were highly confidential and stored in a separate system. If Luke wanted that info, hacking was the only option. And the harder it was, the more excited he became. He'd been stuck on that problem for days. Meanwhile, at the Shooting Institute's training field.Mike watched the girl practicing with her rifle, a slow smile spreading across his face. Shirley looked slim and delicate, but her explosive power was shocking. She'd clearly handled firearms for years. Her small hands had incredible grip strength, and even heavy weapons didn't tire her out. Just as she focused on her shooting, someone suddenly tapped her shoulder. Shirley's eyes sharpened instantly. She swung the rifle butt backward, slammed it toward the person behind her, twisted around, grabbed his shoulder, and stomped down hard on his back. He was pinned to the ground right away, yelling, "Ow, ow—Shirley, that hurts!" Only then did Shirley realize who it was. She released him and asked suspiciously, "Why are you here?" Using her distraction, Mike struggled free and jumped up, quickly pulling his wrist away. "Shirley, who taught you those moves?" Even though he'd been caught off guard, her actions had been smooth and decisive. He barely had time to react. "Thora did," Shirley said proudly. She shot him a warning look. "Stay away when I'm shooting. If I lose control, I might start treating people like targets." Instead of being scared, Mike felt his blood heat up for no reason. Shirley scanned him with a frown. "You're acting strange." Mike pushed down whatever he was feeling, pulled a bag of candy from his pocket, and smiled warmly. "Want some?" Shirley blinked in confusion. "Huh?" He smiled with confidence. "Do you want it?" Who needed dignity when there was candy? Besides, he always carried plenty, and she didn't sense any danger from him. She nodded right away. "Yeah." Mike was thrilled, feeling proud of successfully tempting her.Shirley, though, thought he was kind of dumb for giving away candy for free. When she got back to Astralis, she planned to tell Oliver about it. ... Not long after Thora left the library, she sensed someone watching her from the shadows. The person was extremely well concealed and skilled at tracking. She walked a long way without finding their exact position. She kept her pace natural. When she reached a cluster of remote buildings, she slowed down, slipped behind a few pillars, and waited. She held her breath for almost two minutes, yet still heard no breathing nearby. Suddenly, her expression shifted. A breath sounded right beside her. Thora reacted instantly, throwing a punch straight at the person's face. That person reacted fast, barely dodging the blow, but the force of the punch still scraped his cheek. When she saw who it was, Thora pulled her hand back, her tone cold. "You again." Lance touched the cut on his cheek and chuckled. "Ash, sometimes I really wonder if you're a human weapon. No wolf power, no abilities, yet you're stronger than most users." He finally voiced the doubt he'd held for a long time. Under her gaze, he slowly peeled off a thin human-skin mask, revealing his real face. If that face appeared openly in the academy, it would cause an instant uproar. Some students would probably risk expulsion just to try to kill him. The list of people who wanted him dead was long enough to circle Blue Star. A hint of mischief crossed Thora's face. "If I told everyone that Greywolf's leader, Lance, is right here at Blue Star Military Academy, what do you think would happen?" Without the disguise, Lance looked far more relaxed. He met her eyes with a playful smile. "Trying to turn me into public enemy number one? Come on. Would you really do that to me?" Thora's smile disappeared. Her gaze turned icy. "Why are you following me?" Her sudden shift only made Lance laugh harder. After a moment, he calmed down and glanced aside. "I'm not following you. I'm following an interesting teacher." Thora thought for a second and quickly figured it out. A chill flickered in her eyes. Lance stepped closer, his tone teasing. "I just didn't expect that teacher's target to be you. So I figured I'd come say hello."
