The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
Darius remained silent, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His voice softened slightly as he spoke. "When she comes back, we'll hold the bonding ceremony and let everyone know that we're already mates." The icy sharpness of his features eased, warmth touching his expression as a faint smile curved his lips. Yereah understood at once. No man would ever share the woman he loved, especially not someone as devoted and single-minded as Darius. "Alright. I know what to do," Yereah said with a shrug. Temporarily suppressing Draven's consciousness was still within his capabilities. At least for now, Darius could still keep him under control. "Preston and Evelyn are also very worried about you," Yereah added as he prepared the compounds. Darius nodded. "I'll go home for a visit."At that moment, the office door was shoved open again, far more noisily than before. Carl burst in and froze the instant he saw Darius. His eyes welled up dramatically. "Alpha! You're finally back! I can't live without you!" He rushed forward, putting on an exaggerated show of sobbing, then abruptly changed tone. "While you were gone, I was handling Skybound Group matters and overseeing the Nightclaw Pack. The other day was payday for salaries and bonuses, but you weren't here, so no one paid me…" Darius kicked him cleanly back toward the doorway and delivered a single, crisp word. "Out." Yereah barely managed to suppress a laugh. Moments later, Carl edged back in, instantly composed and serious as he began his report. "Alpha, since Ms. Green left, there have been people secretly watching the area around the Greens' residence. They're likely wary of the Greens' influence, and with Norman's strong reconnaissance abilities, they haven't dared to make a move."Ms. Green's villa is also under surveillance. It appears to be the same group, but only Howard is inside, so they haven't acted. Their real target is probably still Ms. Green." Darius gave a quiet acknowledgment. "There's one more thing," Carl said, his expression turning grave. "Yesterday morning, General Green was taken to the royal estate by someone sent by the Lycan King. He hasn't returned since. In the afternoon, his personal belongings and medication were packed up and moved as well. It looks like a long-term stay." Darius' fingers froze against his thigh. His tone deepened. "You're saying my grand-uncle took General Green away?" Carl nodded. "They were extremely discreet. If our people hadn't been watching closely, we wouldn't have noticed anything." Darius had long stationed personnel around Marlon for protection, so every movement was reported promptly. Confusion surfaced in Darius' eyes. Why would his grand-uncle do this? Was it a form of confinement, or protection? What secrets did the Greens hold? And what did Marlon know? A faint sense of unease crept in. His instincts warned him that this secret might be tied to Thora, which was the last thing he wanted to face. Including the attack on Thora before, and the organization behind it. Could his grand-uncle taking Marlon be connected to that group? Darius sensed that an important truth was buried within Thora's origins, one that could entangle many people. "I understand. Keep monitoring the Greens," Darius said in a low voice. "Yes." Darius suddenly thought of something else. "Also, have the people watching Professor Marcellius' institute record everyone who enters and how long they stay. Report any suspicious individuals immediately."Lucas Marcellius was the only expert they knew who researched wolf kin with special abilities. In times like these, anyone seeking him out might be connected to that organization. "Understood," Carl replied before withdrawing. Darius leaned back slightly, a sharp glint flashing through his eyes as he murmured softly, "It seems I should find some time to have a proper talk with my grand-uncle."
