The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
His thin lips curved into a sly smile, giving him a devilish air that radiated bold, dangerous intent. "Because I wanted to. It's none of your business." That one line left Ashley speechless. Her smile disappeared, and her dark eyes locked tightly on him. Thora guessed these two might have had some past conflict. The way they glared at each other felt like they could kill on the spot. Of course, she was cautious around anyone who appeared out of nowhere. But for now, as long as they didn't bother her, she wouldn't make the first move. "So, how's it going?" she asked Luke. "I'm okay. They tricked me into falling behind, almost took me out," Luke said, wiping his glasses before putting them back on calmly.Thora nodded. Luke was the tech expert. Every member of the Wolffang Unit had their own talents. She didn't push them past their limits, even though their physical strength was stronger than most special forces. Still, these assassins weren't ordinary people either, so Luke taking a hit wasn't a surprise. "Let's go, Boss. If we don't move, we'll get eliminated," Luke warned. "Okay," Thora nodded, slid her knife into her pants, and got ready to leave. "Wait, those two look like they're on Chaules's most wanted list." Luke finally noticed the two assassins' face and spoke up. Thora glanced back, then looked away quickly. She wasn't surprised. Hugo had warned her before they came here. It wasn't just people sent by a pack or the Astralis Empire. Some were wanted criminals, assassins, or even powerful fighters from other races. But no matter who they were, anyone who could appear here was not someone to underestimate. Ashley's blue eyes flicked with surprise. She gave Luke a quick look, then turned to Thora. "If we try to catch up now, we probably won't make it. "At this speed, 200 people will get eliminated fast. When I came to find you, I found a shortcut. Want to take it?" Ashley made the tempting suggestion and added, “And don’t forget—we’re still carrying heavy packs. Chasing the lead team while hauling 60 pounds isn’t easy." Thora was quiet for a moment, narrowing her eyes and thinking. Luke whispered cautiously, "Boss." He didn't say more, but Thora understood—Luke was worried that Ashley might have some hidden motives. But Luke stayed quiet after that. He knew Thora always made careful decisions. "Ashley's right. It'll be hard to catch up now." Thora made her decision and faced Ashley. "We'll take the shortcut." Ashley's face lit up instantly. "Great!" To show she wasn't lying, she added quickly, "By their pattern, every time they clear a map, they turn. You noticed that, right?" Thora nodded, focusing. "Turn angle is 30 degrees. Each map is about six miles. Since I left, they've already entered the next map and moved one mile." A flash of light glinted on Luke's glasses. He froze, shocked. How had he missed all that? Ashley and Number 79 were also clearly impressed. Number 79 didn't show much, but his eyes mainly stayed on Thora. "Wow, I didn't expect Thora would catch all that," Ashley said softly.Thora gave her a calm look. "You did too." Ashley grinned. "You're right. The turn angles are really small. I guessed close, but not as exact as you. Plus, every turn switches left and right. They used some tricks so no one could guess which way they're turning. "Right now, we're at the start of this map. They turned right. Next map, they'll go left. So if we take the shortcut now, we can go straight and reach the endpoint of the next map."
