The Apocalypse Wolf Queen

Chapter 213 Laurel Has a Plan B

Thora walked straight to the seating area beneath the stage where Norman stood. She sat down without hesitation, taking up space like she owned it. Harvey and Tristan stood behind her like two silent reapers guarding a demon king. Shirley, however, didn't bother acting serious at all. She chewed gum and looked around with a bright, playful smile. Thora had planned to come alone, but these three insisted on tagging along. Since she didn't feel like arguing, she brought them with her. From the moment Thora appeared, both families never took their eyes off her. Norman's gaze locked onto the rank badges on her uniform, almost burning a hole through them. Laurel instinctively stepped back and nearly tripped.Thora's arrival lit up the entire hall. Silverleaf Pack actually had someone this young and already a high-ranking officer?! The room shifted instantly. People began reevaluating the Silverleaf Pack power and imagining what that rise meant for them. Some were already thinking about how to get closer to this powerful pack. Caleb couldn't stop staring. His eyes followed Thora every time she moved. He stood frozen in place like someone had unplugged his brain. Tonight, Thora was too dazzling, and it was impossible to look away. Hazel's shock and fear slowly twisted into jealousy and resentment. Especially when she turned to Caleb for comfort, only to find him completely mesmerized by Thora. Her anger flared even hotter. She yanked her arm out of Caleb's grip and hissed, "What are you looking at?" Caleb simply frowned. He didn't reach for her again. And his gaze drifted right back to Thora.Norman never imagined Thora would return, much less like this. He couldn't help but yell, "Why are you here?!" Thora let out a cool and sharp smile. "I'm a Green. Why wouldn't I be here?" She didn't say she was here for Hazel's ceremony. Only that she came because she was part of the family. "You brat!" Norman glared at Thora, but when he saw her calm expression and the deadly looks from the men behind her. He suddenly couldn't get another word out. Thora hadn't intended to ruin the ceremony. So, she simply said, cold and flat, "Go on." It wasn't a suggestion. It was an order; no one dared to argue with it. And just like that, the engagement's atmosphere shifted. It no longer felt like a party. It felt like something completed under her command.Caleb frowned. Why was she still as bold and domineering as before? He used to hate that about her. Back then, he believed women should be like Hazel—gentle, cute, soft, and pretending to be helpless so men could feel protective. But now, looking at Thora, the old disgust didn't rise. Instead, he felt a strange mix of envy and admiration. "Dad!" Hazel cried, seeing Caleb's focused stare on Thora. She panicked at the thought of anything ruining the ceremony and instantly leaned into her father's arm, playing the helpless daughter. Norman didn't want Thora to ruin the day, so he forced himself to continue the speech that had been interrupted earlier. "Thank you to all our honored guests! Today, with the elders of Silverleaf Pack and Argenvale Pack as witnesses, I—acting Alpha of Silverleaf Pack—officially announce this: My daughter Hazel and Caleb will be engaged today!" He raised his voice proudly. "From this moment on, Silverleaf Pack and Argenvale Pack are officially in law. May our partnership bring strength to both sides. Thank you all for your support." Down below, Thora sat with a smile. Her fingers brushed the silver band on her wrist over and over, her eyes sharpening with growing impatience. Tristan noticed the small movement and lifted a brow. His boss was getting restless and wanted to end this fast. But Thora didn't interrupt Norman. She let him finish. With his announcement, Caleb and Hazel officially sealed their pact in front of everyone. Hazel finally exhaled, her smile bright and full of triumph. She tightened her grip on Caleb's arm, holding him possessively. Norman had originally planned to use the engagement to announce the new heir of Silverleaf Pack. But Thora's sudden appearance destroyed his plan. Under Astralis Empire law, if a pack heir from a military family goes missing for more than two years, their inheritance rights can pass to a direct relative. Norman had assumed Thora would die after joining Wolffang. With her death, he could legally replace the heir without trouble. But she had returned, alive and now a major general. Laurel didn't care about Thora's return. She stepped up beside Norman and urged quietly, "Announce it already! Marlon is basically a vegetable. What are you worried about? Did you forget? I brought home the signed succession-change decree from the hospital last time." She had her plan B in place. In case Norman's scheme fell apart, she secretly had someone forge Marlon's signature on a decree changing the heir. Marlon couldn't defend himself now. He was as good as dead. Thora couldn't do anything. Norman stiffened at her words. He also remembered that decree. He found it odd, but yes, it really was his father's handwriting. Norman looked at Thora, standing there with that cold, unreadable face. He gritted his teeth and raised his voice. "There is one more thing I wish to announce—" But he never finished. Thora cut him off with a calm, icy tone, "Are you done with the ceremony?"
