The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
"Whoosh!" Suddenly, a cold gleam sliced past Shirley's ear. It severed a single strand of hair, too fast for anyone to react. Julio stared coldly at Shirley. "Rein in your killing intent, or I'll kill you first." Shirley flinched as the severed strand drifted from her ear to the ground. She forcibly suppressed the wolf power surging inside her, her lips pressed into a tight line. If not for Thora's plan, she'd have killed this bastard who dared to ambush her right now. Lance glanced at Julio, who then stepped back half a step. But the moment he stepped back, his knee suddenly exploded in pain. With a muffled grunt, he instantly dropped to one knee.Thora toyed with a round chip in her hand, her gaze falling coldly on Julio. "Control yourself, or I'll cripple both your hands and feet." It was the same tone, but the threat felt even more terrifying. Seeing Thora act, Shirley's fury subsided, though her eyes remained dark and stormy. Lance said nothing, but the coldness on his face was obvious. Julio struggled to his feet and was about to step forward when he caught Lance's look. He respectfully stepped back and positioned himself behind Lance. Lance smiled and nodded like a gentleman. "My apologies. I didn't keep my subordinate in check. Please excuse the rudeness." Thora didn't dwell on it further and directly answered Lance's earlier question. "Betting lives works. If I win, your life is mine." Her lips curved emotionlessly. "If I lose, my life is yours." Thora's words made all three people beside her tense with dissatisfaction, but there was nothing they could do about it. How could the boss bet her own life? Lance's gaze bore into her as he slowly uttered one word. "Deal." An attractive female dealer brought over two dice cups, one for each person, and announced the rules with a smile. "Gentlemen, the rules are simple. High or low. Five dice each. Shake your cups within the time limit. When time's up, the highest total wins." With that, she struck the bell. As the bell rang, both Thora and Lance began shaking their dice, their gazes locked together with an intensity that surpassed the dice rattling inside their cups. Their expressions were calm, almost impossibly so. But only the two of them knew that the dice inside the cups were spinning at breakneck speed. The dice seemed controlled by some invisible force, always returning to predetermined numbers no matter how they were shaken. Thora appeared calm on the surface, but she was pushing her ability to its limits to compete with Lance. She was manipulating the numbers in Lance's cup, but Lance was controlling the gravitational direction every time she shook her dice. No matter how she shook, they'd end up at that number. This was a battle of abilities, Thora's manipulation of the dice versus Lance's control over the surrounding gravitational field. A trace of surprise flickered through Lance's eyes. Her ability seemed stronger than before. The clatter of dice kept ringing out, growing louder. The veteran gamblers present had already noticed something wasn't right. Because the sound of the dice colliding was identical every single time.Thora's eyes narrowed as an invisible energy field enveloped the space between them. In the private room overlooking everything, Dorian's gaze suddenly sharpened. The red wine in the glass he held began swirling into a vortex. Ding! The timer signal rang out. The rattling of dice abruptly stopped. The entire casino fell silent in that instant. Everyone unconsciously held their breath. Thora and Lance's gazes met, their expressions terrifyingly calm. Lance's lips remained curved in a gentle, elegant smile. Everyone stared at the dice cups on the table, waiting for the result. Bang! Suddenly, a gunshot echoed through the entire Sky Casino.
