The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
Inside an abandoned factory building in a distant empire. "Boss, I'm done with the modifications." Maddox tossed a modified gun into Thora's hands. Thora caught it and tested its weight and balance. "Not bad. The performance is even better than the last batch you modified." Receiving praise, Maddox's face lit up with a grin as he shot a smug look at Harvey and Tristan. The others couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. Getting praise from the boss was nearly impossible. Anyone who got complimented even once would show off about it for days. Thora finally cracked a smile as she glanced at everyone, then shifted her gaze to a location displayed on the projection screen in front of them. "Next up, our target is here. The training mission is infiltration."The moment they saw that location, every single person's eyes filled with barely contained excitement. Ever since leaving Wolffang Base, the boss had been leading all of them in operations throughout the Chaules across the Blue Star. According to the boss, this was their training mission. Every single battle would serve as an evaluation and assessment of whether they still had what it took to remain in Wolffang! So in every fight, they gave it their all. Back when they first left Wolffang, they'd had a full set of gear but only a single standard-issue handgun as a weapon. Yet with just one handgun, they'd seized better and more powerful firearms from those notorious criminal forces and thief syndicates. Then they had Maddox completely rebuild and modify them into new weapons perfectly suited to their needs. They'd never realized that being self-sufficient could feel this damn satisfying. What shocked them even more was that the boss's tactical command was at the absolute peak-commander level. Back at base, they'd only heard her lay out strategies, but in actual combat, they truly experienced firsthand that every single word the boss spoke was the absolute truth for achieving victory. ... Meanwhile, at the Skybound Group CEO's office. Darius looked at the young man sitting across from him, his tone carrying a cold edge. "Shouldn't you be at school, Felix? Why are you in my office again today?" Felix kicked back with his legs crossed and grinned. "Aren't you my brother-in-law? My sister said if I need anything, come to you." Darius's eyes narrowed. Over the past few months, this little punk had been causing him trouble constantly, whether he had a real reason or not. For every trivial little thing, he'd show up at the door demanding help. And every single time, he'd tack on that same line. "Aren't you my brother-in-law? My sister said if I need anything, come to you." If the kid claimed he wasn't doing it on purpose, Darius wouldn't believe him for a second. For the sake of those three words, "brother-in-law," Darius had actually helped him a few times, but he hadn't expected the brat to keep pushing his luck more and more. "Have you ever heard of a certain rule?" Darius's fingers tapped lightly on the desk as a cold smile curved his lips. "What rule?" Felix asked. Darius spoke with deliberate calm. "In werewolf customs, a mate's family is to be treated with respect, and as Thora's mate, I have the authority to discipline her kin. So ... "Darius lifted his gaze, his body releasing a subtle Alpha pressure. "Keep pushing it, and I can still put you in your place." Felix immediately felt an oppressive force bearing down on him. Darius continued in a low, measured tone. "Don't think that just because you're Thora's brother, I won't do anything to you. I have a hundred ways to make Thora believe me over you." The obvious threat sent tension crackling between them. Though his combat ability was nowhere near Darius's level, Felix didn't back down. His eyes sharpened as he met Darius's gaze head-on. In that moment, he truly grasped that the man before him was the Alpha of the Nightclaw Pack. Out of respect for his sister, he'd always been pleasant toward him. But if he wanted to, Felix probably wouldn't even know how he died."Because you're Thora's brother, I've indulged you in every way. But if you keep taking advantage of that ... " A cold smile played on Darius's lips. "Don't blame me for not showing any mercy. "On the flip side, if you behave yourself and listen, I guarantee that in the near future, you'll catch up to your sister's level." Darius spoke slowly, but the threatening intent in his words was crystal clear, carrying an invisible pressure that left no room for resistance. Felix's original intention had been to make trouble for Darius. After all, the guy had quietly stolen away his sister. Besides, he hadn't seen his sister in months, which made him even more irritated. But Darius was making him even more irritated right now. He let out a cold snort and stood up, his body ramrod straight. "I don't need you to tell me that. I'll catch up to my sister on my own. And I don't need your help either. I will make it to the top through my own abilities." Felix's expression turned stone-cold as he stormed out of the CEO's office with long, angry strides. His demeanor was completely different from when he'd arrived. Darius's gaze followed Felix's retreating figure briefly before looking away, the smile on his lips gradually fading. After Felix left, Darius redirected his attention to the files on his computer screen. Those files contained information about all of Thora's activities and locations over the past few months. He narrowed his eyes and stated matter-of-factly. "Carl, I need to leave for a while. Keep me updated on all company and Nightclaw Pack matters in real time through encrypted channels." Thora's recent activity patterns were getting more and more dangerous, and there was a very real possibility she might encroach on those people's territory.Just to be safe, he had to get over there. Carl frowned, as if understanding something, and replied coldly. "Yes, Alpha."
