The Apocalypse Wolf Queen

Chapter 14 Practicing

Thora's POV: "Thora, you're asking for death!" Sophia shouted, but she couldn't break free from my hold. The school forbids students from using wolf power to fight. Anyone who breaks that rule is expelled. So even though she was furious, she didn't dare use her wolf spirit. Even if she had, it wouldn't have helped. My close-quarters skills from the apocalypse made beating these inexperienced fighters too easy. "Let go of her, you bitch!" one of Sophia's friends screamed and picked up a stool to swing at me. I lifted my knee a little and used Sophia's own struggle to shove her forward. The stool hit her square on the back."Ah!" Sophia cried out in pain. The crowd fell silent. I stood and looked at the students around me. Their faces showed surprise and a bit of fear. They hadn't expected this weak mixed-blood to take down a pureblood like Sophia. "If we're in the same class, I don't want to hurt my classmates," I said slowly. "But if this happens again ... " I curled my lips. "It won't just be a kick next time." Most students here had strong family backing. Astralis College had a hidden rule, which was not to drag the family or pack into school fights. Anyone who used family power to win would be despised. Even if they rose later, their network would be cut off. So how well you did in school depended on you alone.I knew taking action against Sophia would not bring the Greens or the Silverleaf Pack down on me. It was my fight, not theirs. "You went too far, Thora!" Sophia snarled as she recovered and tried to rise again. A voice stopped her. "Sophia." She froze. I looked toward the voice. A boy in a black hoodie stood there—Harvey Vasil. He seemed to be the core of Class F. I gave him a small nod. Sophia marched up to him, angry. "Why did you stop me? I only slipped, and she took advantage." "Why are we fighting in class?" Harvey said, annoyed. Sophia snapped back, "Then why do you fight with Ashton every day?" Ashton Smith strolled over in a loud floral shirt. He was the son of an influential diplomat. He didn't care much for school. He wanted to be a singer. He and Harvey were always at each other's throats. Ashton draped an arm over Harvey's shoulder and made a show of himself. He grinned and said in a showy tone, "We're not fighting. We're practicing." Harvey shoved him off. "Get lost, you drama queen." Sophia huffed and went back to her seat. A teacher in a business suit came in as the bell rang. She opened her lesson plan and started class without looking up. It was a quiet agreement. Students and teachers didn't disturb each other. I sized up the class using my memory. There were more odd talents here than I expected. Harvey might nap in his chair, but his wolf-spirit pressure was fierce and mature. The girl in the corner worked on a machine so precise its gears fit without error. You could tell no ordinary student made that. My desk mate was Luke Leacock. His parents were rogues who lived outside the pack system, but he was recruited by the Empire's Hacker Alliance for his skills. He looked clean and pale, with messy hair and a quiet, nerdy air. I glanced at the code scrolling on his screen. The nested commands weren't normal programs. The base structure hid military-grade encryption. I let a small smile play on my lips. Class F? A place full of hidden talent. Maybe more interesting than the elite Class S.
