When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 97 What Else Can You Do To Me?

She felt sad as she pulled out her gun and struggled to crawl out of the cabin. Looking at the bare wood with the solidly frozen soil underneath, she was standing on the Zergs territory, not knowing where to go from here. Suddenly, the sound of a plane engine was heard in the sky. Her head lowered as she looked up and saw a tiny blue fighter flying slowly, in less than a hundred meters distance over the wood. She ran as quickly as possible. “Bang bang bang” Bullets were raining from the sky from machine guns. She had only run for about ten meters when she heard a loud “bang” behind her! She knew that it was the Cheetah wreckage exploding from the bullets. The huge shock wave punched her down and drained her power. Feeling about to faint, her ears seemed to be covered by the thick film. She couldn’t hear anything. She was blind and deaf for a moment. After taking a deep breath, she tried her best to run. Fortunately, the roads were rough in the mountains, and she soon ran into a small hill out of the plane’s shooting range. After she could finally see clearly again, she saw the wood and the ground covered in gunshots, a complete mess along the way she had run just now. She knew she couldn’t stop. Lowering her body, she ran along the foot of the hills. After taking several steps, she saw three black ergates carrying guns heading out to the hill. Her heart trembled violently as she turned around, looking for other routes. But when she looked back, she saw another four black ergates. It was obvious that this group of ergates was searching the ground. They had her surrounded by less than two meters from her.A beam of light went through the thick, solemn cloud. It wasn’t the sunlight. It was soft and glittering, covering the lifeless sky golden and red. Emerald knew it was the human army fighting the decisive battle with the Zerg army. After joining her fatal task, she knew that humans would send massive troops to attack the Zerg planet. Patrick was in orbit right outside the planet, leading the army to launch the most potent attack ever. Remembering Patrick and what he was doing at this moment, Emerald wanted to live more than ever. After being captured by the Zergs, she finally realized how much he had influenced her life. Patrick was strong and determined, capable of doing just about anything. She had never been willing to rely on a man, but this wild, energetic, dominating man slowly had made her get used to living under his control. She realized that the shackle of her freedom she had now was kind of sweet. In fact, he had never confined her, but instead, he had given her plenty of leeways. And now, she was surrounded by seven armed ergates in their territory, with only one grenade launcher in her hand. Maybe she could kill one or two if she acted quick enough, but no matter what, the other ergates would eventually kill her cruelly out of revenge. Slowly and silently, the ergates were coming close to her. The leader was the strongest, its centipedes had collapsed, and it was walking two strong lower limbs like a mammal. Several of its black tentacles were glowing coldly. Emerald took a deep breath before she slowly raised her hands above her head, her gun falling on the ground. What would they do to her? Kill her? Eat her? Or keep her as a prisoner? She hoped they would capture her as a prisoner, but her identity as a soldier who had been part of the air attack is evident by her uniform. Would they let her go? The leader seemed surprised to see her so cooperative and said something in Zerg’s language. One ergate from behind Emerald immediately crawled to her to pick up her gun and then crawled back. Suddenly, a sharp cutting flesh sound was heard immediately before Emerald screamed from the pain in her right leg right before she felt it becoming numb. She grabbed her bleeding shank and kneeled on the ground with one leg. A black, sharp hook was cutting through her muscle from the side of her shank, hanging her leg with the hook. She looked at the worm leg that sliced through her flesh, blood was dripping. Emerald thought she’d faint from the pain. But instead of fainting, the pain was getting worse. The ergate slowly pulled out the hood from her leg, the hood rubbing against the severed muscle. She felt as if her bones were breaking and her flesh was being cut off. She fell to the ground, her whole body was feeling numb, enduring the pain of slowly cutting through her flesh. The process lasted less than 3 minutes. Emerald’s face was on the cold, dirty, frozen soil, covered with tears. She didn’t dare to look at her injured leg and only held her knee with her hand as if the leg would still belong to her if she did this. Thinking that she couldn’t take the pain any longer, the thought of killing herself with the knife she was hiding in her pocket for a split second. But then she remembered Patrick, his calm eyes, his touch, his determination. She thought of how he slept so deep in her arms when he was drunk. Patrick, who was stubborn as a child, made her heart tremble. If he saw her suffering like this, would he be furious? Or would he be speechless and heartbroken? Would he look at her silently and think of the miserable life she had lived in this world? His last words to her were, “Kitten, try to survive.” He was just outside this planet now, and he would pilot the Cheetah that would come to her, even though he still had thousands of Zerg soldiers to fight. She was not willing to die just yet. She slowly raised her head and saw the ergate leader standing in front of her, staring at her with those compound purple eyes. Yes, this was their revenge. They were channeling their anger for losing their military defense system by torturing. She slowly started to smile as she looked at the ugly face of the ergate. There was no more sorrow in her eyes but rather a peaceful glow. “What else?” She asked quietly. “What else can you do to me?” Although they spoke different languages, the ergate seemed to understand her by the way she looked at them. They looked at her in confusion for a couple of seconds, then the leader snarled in a low voice. They all left suddenly, except for the leader himself.
