When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 163 Is The Child Alright?

Emerald heard the scream of the baby when she stepped into the room. Emerald was still carried by Evan Silas, and she was still in a daze. When she heard the crying of the baby, she finally came to herself and struggled to stand up. But Evan wouldn’t let her go and walked directly to the bedroom. “Bang!” He closed the door and threw Emerald on the bed, looking at Emerald coldly. Emerald almost collapsed when she saw Patrick. She cried, punched Evan, and bit him in his arms, and now she stared at Evan hopelessly when he approached her, with her eyes swollen and her throat husky. Evan stood by the bed, and his face was darker than ever. “You humiliated me.” He grabbed her wrist so hard that she felt extremely painful.“Kill me!” Emerald shouted and pulled Evan’s hands to her neck, “Kill me, and everything will be over!” Evan pulled his arms and pushed her easily onto the bed. “Maybe I’ll kill you,” he stared at her pale face, “When I lose interest in you.” “Commander, Major General Kahlil is here,” someone suddenly said by the door and interrupted their confrontation. Evan glanced at Emerald, immediately let go of her hand, and got out of bed. He slammed the door. Emerald could hear his cold voice, “Lock the room, and she can’t leave it anymore.” Emerald sank down to the bed, and she felt she was in a living hell when she saw Patrick’s tall figure in her mind. When Evan went downstairs with a dark face, Kahlil had asked the guards about the “accident” day. When he saw Evan’s face, he knew that things were getting worse and worse. He couldn’t help but think of the message from Patrick that a mercenary brought him. The young soldier said to him in a way that was neither servile nor overbeating, “General, Patrick wanted to ask you whether you could help him get his wife and his son out if he was willing to give up everything he had and leave here to have a vagrant life.” He was shocked by his words. He knew Patrick’s personality. He knew that even though they were keeping the peace on the surface, the resistance would never stop as long as Patrick was alive. Although nothing special and specific was found, he knew that Patrick would counterattack one day. If he had the Empire’s interests in mind, he should’ve let Evan kill Patrick. But he couldn’t do it. However, Patrick said that he was willing to leave Galaxy Eternity for his wife and son, which meant that he would give up his hundred thousand mercenaries and the whole Alliance. Did he really want to sacrifice so much for Emerald? In fact, Kahlil thought this was the right decision. If Patrick left the galaxy, the situation could be much more stable. Besides, the friendship between Kahlil and Patrick would be saved. He didn’t need to face the dilemma anymore and would be relieved. Then he looked at Evan, who had already sat on the sofa. Evan Silas and Kahlil were both made by the last ruler of the machine men, but Evan was stricter and crueler than him. But till today, the Commander, who believed in the superiority of the machine men, had been simulating Heath Ledger for over four months. Besides, he seemed angry. If he were angry with a woman, it would be more complicated to save Emerald than Kahlil expected. Evan seemed to think of something, and he suddenly smiled. Then he said to Kahlil, “What’s wrong?” Kahlil calmed himself down and made a brief report of the plan of invading the Orc planet. They discussed the plan for a while and determined the strategy. It was already dinner time. Kahlil suddenly said, “Brother, I’ve got several bottles of human-made wines, and they tasted special. Do you want to have a try?” Evan Silas nodded indifferently. It wasn’t necessary for them to eat with the energy of crystalloid. However, they would feel better when simulating the human body. Besides, machine bodies couldn’t experience the beauty of human food. Therefore, all the best chefs had gathered in this house. A sumptuous dinner and Kahlil’s good wine were waiting for them. However, Evan suddenly said to the machine babysitter, “Give her some of the dishes.” Kahlil didn’t say anything about it and just persuaded Evan to drink. After finishing two bottles of wine, Evan started to blush. Kahlil asked him casually, “Brother, what are you planning to do with Emerald Wilson?” “Go back to the home planet.” Evan leaned on the sofa with his eyes closed. Kahlil was shocked. He thought that Evan would only be interested in Emerald for a while, and he would stop this when the simulation was over. But now he wanted to bring her to the mother planet? “Why? When the simulation is over, maybe you don’t even want to look at her anymore.” Kahlil said slowly. Evan was silent for a while and answered, “Then I won’t stop the simulation.” Then he paused, “before she dies.” Kahlil didn’t expect that he would say so, and he murmured, “Brother, does Heath Ledger that you are simulating really fall in love with Emerald Wilson?” Why did Evan have such a desire for Emerald in such a short time? “I don’t care about human’s intangible love.” Evan opened his eyes, and he seemed gentler than before, “She happens to make me feel comfortable. Her appearances, smell, personality, behaviors, and thoughts all make Heath Ledger, who I’m simulating, feel comfortable.” Evan’s words made Kahlil upset, and he raised his glass and said, “That’s interesting. I hope I can find a woman who can make me feel the same way one day.” Evan closed his eyes again, and he seemed to fall asleep. Kahlil put down the glass, and he was determined now. Though he wasn’t sure about that idea before, now he has made up his mind. Before, he wanted to save Emerald because he wanted to be a good subordinate and a good friend, but now he had more reasons to do it.This woman couldn’t stay with the Commander. The whole future of machine civilization depended on his will. If he indulged himself in simulating Heath Ledger, then the doomsday of machine men may come in the near future. When faced with the problem of his species’ interests, Kahlil would never hesitate. When he saw that Evan was asleep, Kahlil stood up and went upstairs. The guard didn’t stop him. He stood at the door of Emerald’s room and saw that she was sitting by the side of the bed, holding her baby. “Is the child alright?” Kahlil asked. Emerald turned around and nodded, “He’s fine.” “Come here.” Kahlil lowered his voice, “let me take some photos of him.” Emerald trembled and sensed his tone, so she walked to the door.
